Clearview Orchards

If you visit clearview orchard every year like we do then u will be happy to find that Mel and carol had added parking lot this year to make finding a spot easier than ever! Carol also made some divine lavender soaps that smell amazing and it is infused with honey and dried lavender that’s from the orchard!
We are not disappointed with all the varieties that’s already waiting for us — Jonagold, honey-​crisp, Fuji, gala and cameo– each of them flavorful, sweet and just show how much care went into them to create such perfection.

We really liked this place on our visit today. The apple picking was over in September but it’s a nice, small place to take little kids. They have a little pumpkin patch and the farmer’s happy to take the kids on his tractor for a hay bale ride. There are also benches out back and little see saws and a swing.
Not much food to buy except apples, squash, apple butter and honey and turnovers but certainly worth going to for a pleasant family outing.

They are very cooperative and helpful. Don’t forget to buy honey and pie. Please call them before going to confirm if u pick is available that week. There are places to sit and relax. They provide free ride to the garden.

Love love love this orchard! The little negatives I have are that there is no real bathroom, just a port a potty. Also because the apples are organic, you may find some apples with bugs everywhere. But that’s natural and only comes with the territory. Oh and it’s super hilly so keep those strollers behind. The many positives: right off the hwy, awesome little playground setup with a little chicken coop too for the little ones, yummy homemade apple ice pops, and of course organic fujis! Organic apples in general and a little stand in front but organic apples!!! I’m from NYC and have seen my share of apple orchards but never so great as this. A must visit orchard!

When I think of fall I think of apple picking. & since I hadn’t gone apple picking since I went on a field trip in 1^st grade, I decided it was definitely time to try it again. This is a delightful little orchard that has rows & rows of apple trees. They have denim bags hanging for you to take & begin your picking adventure. My friend and I came the last weekend in October and thought that we would be making it just in time. Unfit tamely for us, we were too late in the season. They explained to us that the majority of the apples had already been picked earlier in the season & that the lack of rain had led to a smaller crop than usual to begin with. They recommended coming at the end of September/​beginning of October. Nevertheless, my friend and I treated ourselves to DELICIOUS apple turnovers. She also got the hot apple cider, which was delicious as well. I bought a bouquet of dried lavender and they had a small pumpkin patch on the side as well. My reasons for reason for giving it 3 stars are that I believe they should advertise when apple picking has ceased for the season just so people know what to expect when they go there. Also the products were very pricy. But with lots of picnic tables around it’s an adorable fall getaway for families and dates alike!

I have been waiting to go fruit picking all year, I missed berry picking over the summer so your only choice during fall is apples. Unilocal assisted me in finding Clearview Orchard and it was a slam-​dunk. Right off of Highway 1, you will find this large orchard tucked away behind some winding roads.
–Parking is free.
–They provide bags for your use.
–Apple samples are provided at the store
–Feel free to try one apple per person while picking, many water fountains are around to wash them.
–The orchard is EXTREMELY hilly, if you have trouble walking up and down large steeps, this will be difficult for you. They do have a smaller area to the left that is a little easier to walk up and down.
–Pumpkins, squash, honey and lavender are just some of the other things that they sell in their store.
–Try the juice and turnovers!
We had a fantastic time and collected 11 pounds of apples. The customer service was suburb and I can’t wait to come back next year.

This place is amazing! The staff was cheery and friendly and the apples were juicy and sweet. It’s a perfect little get away in Watsonville. I must have eaten so many apples because for some reason apples are so gosh darn delectable when they’re just picked from the tree.

Organic apples, honey from their own bees and great cider. Pumpkins, too! A family run, friendly business with fantastic grounds for a picnic after picking.

We came here for the apple picking last weekend. They also have pumpkins, strawberries, and honey, and they sell various apple products. They DO take credit cards.
Pros:
— The apples, all varieties, are $ 2 per pound.
— We had a lot of fun picking the apples and the people who work there are very nice.
— The trees are nice and low for easier picking.
— They gave us free samples of fresh-​pressed apple juice, honey, and apples.
— The orchard is gorgeous, and they have some fun areas for picnicking and hanging out.
Cons:
— The orchard is actually pretty hilly, which I hadn’t read in any other reviews. It was slightly difficult to really «get in there» when picking due to some of the trees being on an incline.
— There were only 3 types of apples in season to pick when we went.
— I couldn’t get over the price of the honey to actually buy any.
Overall, it was a fun experience. No regrets about going, but not sure we’ll probably try somewhere else next year.

We came here with our family over the weekend. It is such a fun and friendly place. The orchard isn’t very big but there are more than enough delicious apples to pick. After picking our fair share of organic gala and fugu apples we headed up to the barn area and shared frozen apple pops. My two young kids were in heaven. There are beautiful views and a fair amount of picnic tables to sit and enjoy your fresh picked apples or a packed lunch. There are swings and other toys for children to play on. The owner’s family was so friendly and even brought the pet tortoise out so my kids could see it. We can’t wait to go back.

The beau & I had the best time Apple Picking at Clearview!
We chose it for the proximity to where we live (45 minute drive) and were not disappointed at all.
Apple Picking has kind of a short season (roughly 2 months) but if you have the time to go, I highly recommend it as a weekend activity.
We walked on to the orchard and were immediately greeted with a bag and set off to pluck our very own apples!
There were only a handful of trees that weren’t ready yet, but more than half were ok to pick from. They had a very good selection of apples (Gala, Fuji, Granny Smith, Arkansa Black, Quince to name a few) which we were excited to see.
We had an opportunity after filling our bag to the brim with different apples to speak with the Owner and his Son-​in-​law. They were really nice and shared tons of information about their operation which was cool to hear from their perspective.
We brought our own sandwiches, a bottle of hard apple cider and shared it after picking apples at one of their picnic tables and people watched for about a half an hour.
If you’re looking for a cute date with your S.O. or a fun and inexpensive activity to do with your family I highly recommend Clearview for any and all U-​Pick fun!
One note I will make though is that if you do bring kids who pluck tons of apples, please be prepared to pay for them. It’s really disrespectful to pick them and then leave them. This orchard is all organic and tons of work goes into maintaining the trees and grounds.

Yesterday was the first time I visited Clearview Orchards or picked apples. I came with my friend Amy Y. and it was such a delightful experience. The smell of the orchard is simply heavenly and even intoxicating in a delightful way. It instantly made me want to eat honey from the bees that visit these trees. The apples were also every bit as delicious as they orchard smelled. As soon as I walked into the door in the evening all of my six children were waiting for the apples and began to gobble them up. They have rated them as the best apples they have ever eaten. I also have to agree with them. It is a good thing I came home with 16 pounds of them!!! I will come here again with my children in tow so that they can also enjoy the experience of picking, the beauty of the nature all around, and to have a picnic.
Beyond apples they have pumpkins, honey, and some other various products. I want to come here for fresh pumpkins and I might just do that soon with my family. I am thinking the most delicious pie and pumpkin pasta ever with their beautiful pumpkins!!! I also really want to get some of their honey. If the honey tastes anything like the orchard smells it will be more than worth any price paid for it!
The owner knew my friend and greeted her very enthusiastically. He is a kind and humble gentleman and very generous to the guests that visit the orchard. They are nice people who deserve the success they have with their orchard and I would recommend this place to anyone.

First time visitor. Mel and his family has set up a charming orchard where families go to pick apples. Love the ambiance. Sitting area to relax afterwards and enjoy the scenery. Had a great time. We’ll be going back again next season.

This is our 3^rd year going to Clearview for apple picking. A favorite fall tradition. Mel, Carol and crew do a WONDERFUL job making your experience amazing. They are so welcoming! There is apple everything. Apple butter, apple juice, apple cider, apple popsicles, squash, local honey and don’t forget to pickup several DELICIOUS apple turnovers. The apples are always firm, crisp and sweet. I recommend everyone check out Clearview Orchards and make it a part of your fall traditions. Bring a picnic, enjoy the scenery and the swings!

A nice place to pick up good apples. There are a lot of nice apples, mostly red ones. But we also like green apples :) not very cheap, but all is organic. Also, you can buy pumpkins and honey there. There is a good playground for kids. Highly recommend if you are in around that place.

Apple picking just seems like THE THING you have to do in the fall and even though I have an apple tree at home, it really doesnt compare to going to an apple orchard and scouring the place for some apples. Fortunately and unfortunately, my friends and I were able to make it to the last week of the U-​Pick season (last weekend of October) so we were able to experience the place but there were barely any apples in sight to pick. The orchard is a decent size with many rows to walk through but since it was at the end of the apple season, the only ones we found if any were very small or diseased looking. I called ahead to ask about the selection and they were correct in saying that there were very few to pick and most likely you would just purchase the nice ones at the store. I refused and searched far and wide and found 2 semi-​decent apples that had a tiny hole in each. A group actually had a basket of a dozen apples or so that were pretty big and not nasty looking and said that the front trees had apples. I ran my booty over there and was able to pick about 10 apples that were actually in really good shape. I probably took the last of the good looking ones but at least I bought apples at my first apple picking trip! Now I know to plan ahead and come in late September/​early October for apple picking.
This place is pretty small and cute. The store sells their various apples and pumpkins along with apple turnovers, apple juice, and apple popsicles for a dollar. I just had my eyes set on my apples but I knew that I had to ridiculously wash these puppies because I found a slug on this perfect apple… oh well… There is an area in the back that has a little swing, horse swing, and bench swing and my friends and I had fun there. There were two benches right next to it if you want to have a picnic and I had totally made cookie butter sandwiches for that moment but ate those right up before the trip. The farm also had avocado trees which I had never seen before but unfortunately those puppies werent ripe. Overall, it was mostly our fault for going so late in the season but I know that if we had gone earlier, this would have been a 5 star experience!
**TIPS**
1) Apples are $ 1.50 a pound.
2) U-​Pick ends the last week of October so to get the best selection, I would go late September or early October. Call ahead and ask about the picking season.
3) Only open on the weekends.
4) Wear comfy shoes because the trees are in different leveled grounds. I wore flats and my feet got pretty dirty.
5) Enjoy!

Small, but nice orchard. Plenty of apples when we visited. Easy curbside parking if the driveway is full. They also have a store right at the top of the hill where you can buy honey, apples, and other produce.
The staff was very friendly and pointed out where to find which types of apples. The cost is $ 1.50/lb of apples. They also provide bags so you don’t have to bring your own. The walk through the orchard is a bit hilly, so I recommend wearing walking shoes instead of sandals. It was an all-​around pleasant, stress-​free experience. I would visit again.
Tip: a lot of the best apples require a bit of a reach inside the trees. We had more luck picking smaller apples than the bigger ones.

This Orchard is beautiful, kid-​friendly, and has organic apples! We spotted some avocado trees as well. Apples look great this year!
This was our second year going apple picking at Clearview Orchards and it was even better this year than last. The staff is as friendly as it gets and kids have a blast picking apples, swinging, playing, looking at a giant turtle (Jethro I believe). They even have some pumpkins already which are very cute for photo-​ops. More photo-​op areas are set up in the front.
Try their cider, cider pops, and local honey at the shop. We love this orchard!

I swear… going to Clearview Orchards brought me back to picking apples and cherries with my mom and sisters as a little kid. Everyone was so kind, from the moment my friend and I got there. The gentleman at the gate, who hands who the bags? Totally sets the tone for the kind of experience you will have.
The views are breath taking and you get a little exercise in as well. They have a great plot of family owned land that produces not only apples, but avocados, honey and pumpkins! Nothing like harvesting your own snacks. Groupon had a great deal of $ 10 for 10lbs. My friend caught it and I didn’t, but it was inexpensive. They also have a little market place, where you can buy pre-​picked apples and such.
The awesome part? They have benches strategically placed in between the rows for resting or as I used them… phone stabilizer for shots. Even from the benches, you can see the beauty of the surrounding areas. I got some fantastic panoramic photos.
If you’ve never done anything like this? I suggest you jump on in and try.

My friend bought a groupon and a group of us made a trip to this apple orchard. It was a beautiful day and we had small children in our group. The kiddos had a great time and it was nice that the orchard had dwarf trees so that even the littlest helper could pick their own fruits.
We were greeted when we came in and everybody was so very nice and friendly. I think it’s a family run business. They explained how the orchard was set up and even let us know that there was a little picnic area further down where the kids could play. We had a great time picking apples and enjoyed our picnic lunch. The apples here were sweet and delicious. Definitely worth checking out!
