Mr Cleaning

We have been using Ed for a few months now and have really appreciated the nice job his crew does! They are timely, reliable, responsive and do a great job!

I distance-​manage my mom’s place at Pajaro Dunes and basically it wouldn’t be possible without Ed and his crew. I requested a quote and was immediately called to schedule an appointment; the first deep cleaning was done that week and now our place is cleaned after each guest (3−5x a month) without any issues. Ed lets me know when we are running low on the consumables (TP, soap, etc) and stocks everything after getting my approval. He’s even done some small fixes to things that have been broken by guests around the house, which would have been very challenging to orchestrate myself from afar. I do a bank transfer for payment to circumvent credit card fees and after 8 months or so we really have a casual communication system that works for us. Thanks Ed, I really appreciate all your help!

I really hate to do this. But I really value reviews on Unilocal to help me make an accurate decision.
We ordered a free quote for a whole house cleaning, carpets in four areas and Windows.
Ed did the walk through with me and my husband. He was detailed but kept saying «wow those are a pain to clean.» Ok got it, cleaning sucks… that’s why I’m looking to hire someone.
My total quote was $ 2700+
So we started knocking things off our list. I really needed carpets and Windows for sure. Windows alone was $ 700+ and carpets were $ 600+. The house cleaning alone was going to be $ 1320. After deliberating I decided to have him do just the house cleaning and I would hire the other carpet guy I used before to do the whole house carpet for $ 250. I would do the Windows myself which usually takes me about an hour.
He allowed us to split the $ 1320 into two pay periods but after he left I just kept thinking of how much I would still have to do. Dusting «correctly» would have cost me extra. He said the cleaners just normally dust around things. (Not ok with me). And how I would still have to wipe the walls from finger prints, and then wash my couch cushions before he would clean the frame area. Basically I’m paying $ 660 and I still have to do the brunt of the work. So the next business day we asked him to just quote two of the carpet areas and we would cancel the house cleaning. He said «$ 150 for the two rooms». We agreed. But then nothing! No one called me to set up the appt like he said. We’ve texted and he doesn’t respond.
I contacted him two weeks before my guests were due to arrive and now, they arrive TOMORROW and I still haven’t heard back from him.
This is poor business to me. I was patient and wanted to give him time because I know he’s busy. But so are we. I based my decision to hire him from these Unilocal reviews. From what I’ve seen posted he doesn’t usually charge this much.
I’m left feeling like he really didn’t want to clean my home and didn’t want my business because I wasn’t going to pay the full $ 2700+. I’m not made of money. I have been in and out of the hospital for 4 months only to have it end in a miscarriage. After the surgery I decided I needed more help than we could do ourselves and I wanted the peace of mind of having the house done right.
I’m sad I had to write this. I just wanted communication and help. I wish he would’ve just said «I don’t want to do this job» so I could find someone else. But instead he kept saying «I don’t really need the money.» Or «that’s a pain to clean so if you could do this part we would do this part.» Which made NO SENSE to me.
I wouldn’t recommend using him because he doesn’t communicate after the initial consult. I even asked «do you want me to call your wife at the office?» No response. We did call, and texted and got nothing.
UPDATE: Within SECONDS of posting my review, guess who called? So if you want to get him to call you, leave a review! Apparently he’s paying more attention online than to those who are actually trying to contact him! Unreal!

Mr. Cleaning continues to go above and beyond to make sure my mother’s home in Santa Cruz is always perfectly clean! Since my parents live out of state and I live in San Jose, I’ve often asked him to do extra odd jobs to help maintain the house and get it ready for VRBO guests and there is truly nothing he has said no to. They have helped with cleaning inside and outside, helped fix some handyman issues around the house, stocked it with the brand of towels and sheets he recommends for vacation home rentals, etc. He and his crew also knew exactly what to do to make sure it was ready for guests like fancy folding the towels and putting hte sanitrary strips on the toilets so guests would know the ywere clean and he also takes care of putting out fresh toiletries for each new guests. All these little things we didn’t even think to do for renters since we are new to the VRBO scene on the owner side, he has made sure we are doing so all our guests are happy. Communication has been tricky (due to me and my family’s fault) since we are renting the house out and its kind of a family affair on what needs done, and we all ive out of town, but thank God Mr. Clean is patient with us and hasn’t fired us as clients! He has also been great about getting over there and getting it clean for quick turnaround or at the last second if awe have a last second renter sign up. We aren’t renting the house out currently, but we plan on continuing to use him in between visits for sure.

Wow, I don’t know where to start, or how in the world this business has more than one star or happy customers?!
So I had «Mr. Cleaning» come in and give me a quote for a deep clean, Windows done and bi-​weekly cleaning. He was very good at communicating arrival times and all that, but that is where the good ends. I paid $ 245 for the most awful «deep clean» I have ever paid for. The master shower wasn’t cleaned, the counters in the kitchen were not wiped down, the glass shelves in guest bathroom not cleaned. Not cleaned under the dressers, didn’t move the books, all of it. I was totally floored when I came home, and the cleaners were just leaving. His son, who cleaned our windows (and he did a good job), said «my dad appreciates feedback. If something wasn’t done well, please let him know. So once we were inside, looking around, I was floored. All of the issues that I mentioned above were wrong, and I really could tell that the job was rushed and not thorough. So I texted «Mr. Clean» to let him know what an awful job his crew had done, and he responded, a day and a half later, with «well, what do you want me to do? Fix it?» Well, yes, of course I did. I asked him to yes, please send over someone to do the job, that I feel was done so poorly, the right way. Well, guess what? He does this texting me at 6am, «I’ll have someone in the area at10am, will that work?» Well, I answer him around 8am, and all of a sudden his «girls» aren’t available anymore. This run around went for a few days, and finally I just said «forget it, this is ridiculous, you aren’t going to honor your work, and I don’t want to work with you anymore.»
Here’s the thing, he is a fast talker, will be quick to come in and get the contract, but not willing to have a good, even sloppy job done. I truly have never had such a bad job done in my house. Really shocked he is in business. I mean, who misses the Master bath when cleaning a house, and who doesn’t honor their work by sending someone out to make it right?
I have found a wonderful person, who does an amazing job, and not some schizter person who isn’t worth his word.

We needed a detailed house cleaning prior to moving out of a rental. Prior to the scheduled date, we received a detailed list of exactly what they would be doing and on the day of they went above and beyond. The carpets looked better than when we moved in and they cleaned all of the cracks and crevasses in the house. We were able to get our entire deposit back, that is what we were looking for.
The only negative on the experience was that they wanted to be paid before cleaning. I completely understand how people cancelling at the last minute messes up their schedule but paying up front leaves the customer with little recourse if the service isn’t as promised. As it turns out, we had no reason to be concerned but it was a little uncomfortable before we saw the quality of their work.

Does a professional job! Took his time to perfect everything he could. Didn’t make any false promises and went the extra mile to make sure we were happy. Greatly appreciated his service and would recommend him to anyone in need of carpet cleaning. (we have pets to) His pricing matches his work and to be honest I’ll call him again before we move!

To be fair they do a good job cleaning your house. Organising with them is exceptionally difficult and changing plans, even with advanced notice, incurs a penalty charge and rude text messages. They would be fantastic for people who did not work or have busy schedules but are too difficult to deal with if you have a busy schedule.

I called Ed when I needed some quick support to help a friend. I am on the east coast and we coordinated and kept in contact via phone and text. He and his team responded right away and got the job done and it certainly was not an easy job! Very professional. Totally pleased with the outcome.

Called Ed on Tuesday, Got an estimate on Wed and by Noon Thursday the apartment I moved out of was cleaned. They cleaned my kitchen and bathroom making it look like new. Ed and his team were friendly and professional. Next time I move I will make sure to call him.

He and his team are professional, polite and hard workers. They turned a dirty house into a sparkling clean house in about 3 hours. I was absolutely amazed at the transformation.

They made it all so easy! They came out beforehand to find out exactly what I wanted done and gave me the price. They paid attention to detail and my place looks great! They got some really tough stains in my carpet and sent me before and after pictures along the way. I felt really taken care of

If you want your entire deposit back, contact these guys immediately! They will handle everything! Windows, carpets, outside, everything! I called numerous places and it was all piecemeal; one company only did cleaning, one only did carpets, and another only did Windows. We are clean freaks, and when we inspected the job Mr. Cleaning did for us, everything was done to perfection. We would give more stars if possible! Thanks Ed!!!

It can be stressful to have strangers in your home. But Ed and his team are real people, real NICE and real PROFESSIONAL. They work quick.
Have had two jobs done by them. Power washing and a deep clean of the Master bathroom. Having them bid a third job now.

We have a second home in Aptos and Mr. Cleaning (Ed and his crew) always do a great job. Very happy with their service! We are not always there, but we can be guaranteed that when we are, our home is clean and ready for guests. He has great communication and will text us if he has any questions, which I really appreciate! Highly recommend Ed and his team!

ED and his team went above and beyond to clean the home we moved from. Our landlord was happy with the cleaning that Ed and his team did. Ed was great with communication and even sent pictures to us on our i phones. I would use Ed again when needed.

Ed and his crew did a great job in my elderly mother’s very cluttered house, which was in desperate need of a deep cleaning.

Very convenient! Ed offers carpet cleaning in addition to house cleaning services. I was a little reluctant because his quote was a little higher than I budget. The last time my carpet was cleaned the company told me there was little life left and it would probably be best to just get new carpet. Some of the stains were not lifting and the wear was showing. Unfortunately, I’m not in the position to re carpet my entire home, so I called Ed.
I had my usual monthly cleaning on a Tuesday, and he prepped the space for the carpet cleaning scheduled for the next day. The results were like night and day. I had no idea the surface I frequent every day could be so gross. Super pleased with the results and extremely convenient. Usually I have to take the day off to supervise, but since Ed regularly cleans my home, I was without worry.

I called Ed due to the great Unilocal reviews and had a pretty bad experience. We needed his help before the holidays. Our house is small (3 bd/​2bath, 1600 sq ft). He came for the walk through with my husband, told him that we kept a clean home and that the cost would be $ 250. Seemed like a lot. When I asked him how many hours $ 250 equated to, he told me that they don’t work by the hour.
We were in a tough spot and agreed to the price. He then called 3 days prior, told us that he couldn’t clean on the promised date, that he could come the next morning. There was no way to make that work, and it wasn’t what we’d agreed upon.
This whole experience added much stress to the already stressful holidays. Not a good experience :(

Wow! Mr. Cleaning, where have you been all my life?!
I’m so glad I choose Ed and his team from Mr. Cleaning to clean our home. Not only did they show up at the time promised, Ed did a walk through estimate with me prior to doing the job and his team went right to work. They also finished the job by the time he stated it would take to complete. Their attention to detail exceeded my expectations. My house is sparkling clean and they did not leave an area untouched. I also had them clean my windows and carpet. I must say my windows have never looked so clean that I have to tell people to be careful of not mistake them for being open and walk right into them. I’m now a regular service client and I could be more pleased.
