History

Established in 2010.

Open Leaf Excursions is based on the ideals expressed in Richard Louv’s book, «Last Child in the Woods.» Our children are not experiencing the joys of the outdoors like we were able to one generation ago. There are children within urban environments who don’t even have a worthy green space to explore. Open Leaf Excursions is here to help urban folks find their way to nature, one step at a time.

Meet the Business Owner

Dana J.

Business Owner

As an avid outdoor person and native Wisconsinite, Dana has spent a lot of time in nature. She has learned first-​hand all of the wonderful benefits of spending time in the outdoors. As a mother of two boys she is also learning the great importance of sharing these lessons with the next generation. Dana has worked extensively with urban youth teaching environmental education and has seen how exciting it is to introduce the outdoors to those who have never had the opportunity before. She created Open Leaf Excursions as a way of fulfilling her passion for youth in nature. She hopes that along the way that people on her excursions learn to become lovers of nature and quite possibly the future stewards of the land.
