I just went for inspection.
The men I dealt with at the inspection station were very nice and I got through nice and easy.
However, I know if you have to go into the place, the story is a bit different. They can go very slow, just depends on how busy it is when you get there and who’s working. For some reason, they were making people wait outside and I guess allowing a few people in at a time. Don’t really understand that, having a line of people outside in the hot sun. There was also a ton of people doing their road test and the line had a lot of young people, so maybe they were just keeping the road test people out so they don’t clog up the waiting area (they didn’t do that when I tested).
Overall, this DMV could be worse. If you need to pick an inspection place, this is a good one.
PS; if you go on the DMV’s website, if you poke around you can find video stills of how long the wait is at any DMV. The stills are updated every few minutes (I checked today).

THIS DMV HAS THE WORST COSTUMER SERIVCE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! Horrible experience this past Saturday. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot, stood on the 1 hour ½ line (at 7am) to the inside line it, was nothing but sarcasm. I have to say the BEST was the minimum WAGE WHITE BLOND CURLY HAIR clerk/​witch! working on the license verification line who woke up on the wrong side of the bed. This individual proceeded to belittle everyone that came to her /​or the other 2 workers line for license renewal verification («the points checker»). I observed her treating and down every single person who approached her and the other workers line. Once it was our turn online I was hoping that she wouldn’t put her 2 non sense into our convo like she did others, but of course she gave her stank attitude to us as well. Due to her unprofessional actions I asked to speak to a manager little did I know this man was also a JOKE (white male glasses) he did not even let us get a word out but said we can not assist you here you must go else where! Really like what ever happen to costumer service or the costumer always being right? not even did he NOT listen or want to hear what my husband and I was telling him about his RUDE and UNDERCLASS staff but he kicked us OUT! THIS DMV IS THE WORST THEY NEED TO GET SHUT DOWN OR RETRAIN THE ENTIRE STAFF. I GIVE THEM ZERO STARS AND ZERO CLASS! WAYNE DMV SUCKS

Went here with my 17 year old to get his permit validated on Saturday May 28 and the line was extremely long however the black security guard handing out the papers was very helpful and friendly, also the white thin employee outside checking documents was also friendly! When we got inside the older bird looking black lady with short hair had no kind of class! What a waste of space in this world! She was rude to everyone that came into her lane! The second time we had to see her she told me to give my son 10 dollars and go wait outside, I then proceeded to ask her old self if I could give my son my card so he can pay and this lady just said «go with him then bye «and rolled her eyes. My son looked at me and said «oh my gosh how rude» she must of heard because she responded with a «thank you very much»! I turned around to say something but my kid who has much more class and respect for people asked me to please ignore her ignorance! That lady runs her mouth to everyone because they are protected by security guards and officers! I would love to see her outside of dmv so I can give her dumb looking self a peice of mind! Hope your butt gets fired you disgrace of a person!

Awesome experience at the Wayne DMV! Well, not really. Upon arriving and seeing the massive line outside my heart sank and I realized I was going to be there for a very, very long time. However, once I explained to the congenial officer outside that all I needed was a copy of my driving abstract, he pointed me in the direction of an adjacent room where I was instructed to stand in a short line and be assisted by someone who wasn’t there. In interest of full disclosure, it was approaching noon and, as we all know, everything ceases to exist during lunch breaks. Once again, I came to the sad realization that my visit might never end.
After standing there looking like an idiot for the better part of 15 minutes, the clerk returned from lunch, still picking the remaining morsels from her teeth and sat at her desk to collect herself for about 5 minutes. She then returned to the window and told us to show her our paperwork. Her only utterance afterwards was $ 15. She then proceeded to mutter to herself angrily about how everyone was there today to pick up abstracts.
The entire process for her to pull said abstract was about 30 seconds, not bad considering the state or whomever the hell runs the DMV makes $ 15 for printing out a sheet of paper that costs way less than a penny. Matter of fact, if my vocation was printing out things that cost the price of a piece of paper and was able to charge $ 15 a pop, I’d be ecstatic. I’d be more than ecstatic. I’d do a back flip. One back flip per $ 15, per piece of paper. Hell, I’d even spring for the toner. Which brings me back to the original point which I’ve made many, many times before. If you don’t like your job, find something that makes you happy. Don’t make everyone around you miserable especially when they’re forking over $ 15 for literally nothing. Point made?

long line on a monday mid afternoon looked a bit scary but the wait was like 10 minutes in and out quick friendly staff kudos dmv you did a great job

I am rating this solely based on the inspection line.
I went this morning and was in and out basically. Mind you it was a Saturday, when most people would go and would be packed. No joke, I got my ticket that was stamped 10:27 and when I was pulling out of the lot I looked at the time again and it was 10:37. very quick. the inspectors were great.

Employees don’t know what they’re doing. Testing center white, blonde bleach broad asked me if I was speaking & understanding English, that in America we read left to right, I should go to an eye doctor to learn how to read? Very disrespectful and shocking. Last time I come here — I rather make another few miles to Paterson instead. So disappointed. Happened today…

Went to the MVC in Wallington to get my driver’s license renewed and being forced to wait 45 min in the cold, wtf??? Well, I didn’t actually wait, I went straight to Totowa, and what a surprise. Polite people working and getting my DL in less than 20 min without waiting in the cold, only can say, awesoooome! Customer service was great and fast! Thank u!

How is there not an option to give 0 stars?!
I can’t believe this place. First, the young 17 year old boy working up front didn’t sign my form (that you fill out to renew your license) and I had to go back. But even before that. You see people are on line. A son and his mother blatantly cut the line to get in then jumped in front of me right as I’m about to pay and get my photo taken. MY PRIVATE INFORMATION IS LAYING ALL OVER THE DESK AND THE LADY WORKING LET THEM CUT AND STAND THERE IN FRONT OF EVERYTHING. The boy didn’t have anything with him. The lady working asked his mom why they would come to the DMV with nothing… Guess what people. He still got what he came for. And people wonder why shit happens in this country. Meanwhile, I have all my documents and they still give me a hard time. So, I had to go back to the front to get my form signed that the young boy didn’t do bc nobody gives a shit at this dmv… I finally come back to the lady and the form is not my form. He signed the wrong persons form and gave me hers… DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLES ADDRESS AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS ARE ON THAT FORM? Get your shit together. I’m warning everyone right now. Don’t go here. This place should clean house immediately!!!

CONSIDER ANOTHER DMV. Worst lines, rude employees who could care less to help you. Don’t waste your time at this DMV

HORRIBLE. Nasty people that work the inspection line. Some guy banged on my window telling me to move my car. Then the guy who looked at my car was nasty as well. I don’t plan on coming here anymore I’d rather go to Oakland

Hello 1960. What a pit… rude employees. .long lines… why cant it all be done on one line? What an awful system. only good thing is lots of parking…

I recognize that the employees working at any DMV are never a dream to work with, but this place is an absolute nightmare. Do yourself a favor, and drive a few minutes further and save yourself the aggravation of coming here.
I had to come in for a replacement license. There was no one behind me in line and the rude, spiteful woman working the drivers license and permits station told me to get out of line and come back. It took me all of ten seconds to fill out what I was missing. She then proceeded to give me #101 (the person’s number prior to me was 17) and told me to sit down and ‘make friends’ while I waited. The number she gave me combined with that comment me laugh out loud at how embarrassing this 50 something year old miserable woman was behaving. The ‘security guard’ asked what number I was after seeing me sitting there and laughed when I said 101.
I don’t care where you work or what your business reputation is. People who are rude and condescending for no reason should be embarrassed, and the people who let this kind of ‘service’ go on should be mortified. We as customers don’t want to be there either. So lose the attitude and just do your job. It’s not that serious, and you’re embarrassing yourself.

Rude, unprofessional, and totally do not KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!
I came here for a renewal of my license, this was the same place where I got my license a year and a half ago. They told me there was an issue with my name and I needed to go to Social Security and US Immigration to have it «corrected». I was flabbergasted because my name was the same name I used to get my license here last year! How could it be wrong! Now they said the system changed (LAME EXCUSE). I knew they would not accommodate my case because it was too much of an effort them because they prefer sitting on their lazy asses and giving people a nasty frown whenever someone comes in for a transaction. I was then told they could not help me, so I shrugged off all their bull-cr@p and went to the nearest DMV in Oakland. Not only was I treated professionally, but I was even greeted with a smile and good afternoon. I was told by the staff there that I needed to be counter-​checked with the USCIS S.A.V.E Database and it might take 4 days for my name to clear. They took my number and said come back when we call you along with all your documents.
Well the next day i got a call and came in as instructed. The whole process was a breeze. No long lines, no rude and unprofessional staff, and I got my license within 30 minutes.
Avoid this DMV at all cost! You are better off going to the LODI DMV or the smaller offices where you are treated justly and professionally.

The people who work in this DMV seem to find a vindictive pleasure in extending the wait time and sending you to the wrong place. The road signs make the place hard to find, but this does not seem to help the Wait time. Even when it is not packed, the employees are sure to remove people from the help desks in order to ensure that everyone gets their fair share of grueling wait period. I’ve gotta hand it to them, if there’s anyone in the world who knows how to make large numbers of people thoroughly miserable, the people at the DMV have got it down to a science.

Horrible. Got there before closing on a Saturday and was told that that they weren’t taking anyone else. I said its 12:45 and you close at 1. They said nope, come back Monday. If my company ran that business that way I’d be out of a job. Oh wait, that’s right. They can do that because they’re state run…

While I had a great experience today, I cannot and will not give the DMV more than 3 stars, because I certainly am not a fan.
I had to stop in today to renew my license, change my last name, and change my address. I decided to go mid-​morning to avoid the pre-​work rush and the lunch time rush. It was the perfect time. I filled out my form and the woman sent me to Line 7. I was the first person in line (after those already being helped). I was called within minutes. The woman was quick and efficient. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. You read that correctly, less than 30 minutes! I brought my Kindle with me expecting long lines, but I didn’t even have a chance to sit down. This was probably the best experience I’ve ever had at a DMV.
I’ve been to this location many times over the years, including for my road test many moons ago. The best time to come is at an odd time, mid-​morning or mid-​afternoon, and in the middle of the month. I got my last license in the Oakland office and that was a shit show. I think I’ll stick with this location from now on.

The DMV really gets a rep for being one of the worst place to visit. I mean I understand why because not so long ago it was an excrutiating process just to get your license. I remember when I first got mine it took such a long time that I probably had breakfast, lunch, and maybe even dinner from the food truck outside. I’m exaggerating… or maybe not. That memory has been compressed to a very narrow section of my brain. Over the years I’ve seen improvements. For example the last time I came to renew my license I was in and out in less than 30 minutes! Wait what?! Yeah you heard that right 30 minutes. Granted I had my documentation and got it all in order but the line still moved efficiently. Then my most recent visit to renew my registration took all but less than 5 minutes. Boom clap the sound in the my heart! Loved it. You’re okay in my book DMV… you’re quite A-​OK.

Believe it or not this location is much better then the others that I have visited in the are, I am talking about Paterson, Jersey city, and Union City. First of all this one has parking which is a huge plus over the others. As for the rest be prepared to wait and deal with the mess that is the DMV.
Workers here are nasty as you would expect in such a facility, ready to snap at you or anyone else at a drop of a dime. This reminds me of a soup nazi place in NYC, but the result is less then satisfactory.
The entire process is probably dated back to the 1950s, they still give you lamented numbers and then yell them out. You have to make 4 line seeing different people before you actually go to get processed.
I suggest you go on a weekday during early hours as the lines and the frustration gets much worse as the day progresses. I am glad I don’t have to come here often.
