House of Cupcakes

This location is closed. But when it was open they had the best cupcakes around. Tasty, fresh, and decorated very nicely. Unfortunately, when I went there the other day, they had closed up for good. I think they have a few other locations around the state.

I came in here craving cupcakes. The only cupcake I found to be «cupcake wars» worthy was the hazelnut crêpe cupcake, this one was excellent! This was the second time I have been there and I was not wowed by anything I have had. I ordered a few cupcakes I felt like most of them were just too sweet and overall average. The service was good though.

Yikes! I had to bump you guys way down. I was in the store this Saturday with my mom and had a horrible experience. My aunt really enjoys your gluten free cupcakes, and every time we come in to get one, the counter help is sooooooo nice and offers to put your lemon filling inside of it because that’s her favorite and normally, they do it for her while she waits.
We came in to get her one and the girl behind the counter refused to do so, even though we have had this done MANY times in the past. She seemed incredibly combative and aggressive, insisting that the only two gluten free flavors were chocolate and vanilla. When we replied that we knew that, and that we wanted the lemon filling in the vanilla cupcake as per usual, she said that she couldn’t do that and that you guys don’t do that here.
We wound up buying one chocolate and one vanilla so that my aunt could pick, but when we got the cupcakes home, the icing had completely slid off the tops. My mom went back to get a replacement and she did, so I guess that’s good. But my aunt was incredibly surprised when we told her the story — as I’ve mentioned, we’ve never had a problem here before. Usually everyone is nice and accommodating, but the counter service on Saturday afternoon (probably around 1 o’clock) was awful.

The cupcakes we had were delicious, a little much on the frosting but still yummy! I noticed they had a lot of cake options and their giant cookies were very tempting!

I had House of Cupcakes do my son’s first birthday cupcake cake and they nailed it!!! Not only did it look perfect it tasted amazing as well! The staff is so friendly and helpful and I thought their price was more than fair. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

I never understood the hype of cupcake shops until I went to House of Cupcakes. House of Cupcakes’ tiny treats are delectable, fun and very creative! The flavors that House of Cupcakes offers are out of this world. From carrot cake to chocolate «dirt» to pistachio, House of Cupcakes truly has it all. However, by far the best cupcake in the shop has to be the dulce de leche; this bite sized treat is a soft and moist cake with a center core frosting that is salty and sweet. The flavor combo is unreal! Moreover, their cupcake decorating skills are straight out of Iron Chef!
House of Cupcakes staff is fun, kind and energetic… this may be because they are hopped up on delicious cupcake frosting.
The best part about House of Cupcakes is the fact that they offer vegan cupcakes that do not taste like rubber. Having to always hunt down palatable vegan treats, for a family member who is allergic to dairy, is always a challenge. However, House of Cupcakes’ vegan cupcakes are just as good as the regular cupcakes!

Im writing this review as im eating the 4^th cupcake leftover over from my sons birthday on saturday… its that good. The cupcakes are moist, the icing is perfect texture and taste and the designs are absolutely cute!!! I called them on a thursday told them i have a farm themed party for Saturday and i trusted the design they would make and they made me 36 animal cupcakes… pigs cows rooster and sheep that were so cute and so tasty! Thank you house of cupcakes! Your cupcakes are amazing!

I kind of don’t get the hype– the cupcakes are pretty small, the actual cake part is better-​than-​average but the icing is not very good (in my opinion… but I might be biased because I like cream cheese icing on everything and most of these cupcakes seem to have buttercream icing) The huge variety of flavors is pretty novel, but I’d rather have a high quality standard flavor than a «meh» creative flavor. One thing I will hand to them is their customer service– everyone I’ve encountered at any House of Cupcakes location is very friendly and they will happily take custom orders if you call ahead.

This was our first time here and I’m just sorry we waited so long! All the flavors we tried were delicious and fresh! This is going to be a regular stop for us. :-)

I can’t get enough. I’m now there every Sunday. They made the cookie dough one even better by adding mini chips to the frosting and adding more frosting and a little mini cookie. I get enough for me, for the whole week, to have a daily splurge. I think I’m kind of glad they’re a bit of a ride away or I would be in real trouble.

I ordered their dulce de leche cupcake and the cookie dough cupcake. The dulce de leche was caramel HEAVEN. It’s a good vanilla cupcake with a thick, caramel sauce filling inside the cupcake and a true caramel-​dulce de leche icing on top. Amazing on a few different levels, though definitely on the richer side. The cookie dough cupcake was not good at all. The buttercream was WAY too sweet, I could taste the sugar in the buttercream. The base of the cupcake is a plain vanilla cupcake with what resembles a cookie dough filling. Wish I knew about the discount for checking into Unilocal before placing my order! Would like to come back and try a few more, but wouldn’t try any with the vanilla buttercream again. Too sweet for my taste.

These cupcakes are incredibly divine! Great deals and so many options, flavors, designs and they even make their own ice cream. House of cupcakes is sensational!

My cousin brought home some cupcakes for the SuperBowl and let me just say, WOW!
I has the peanut butter cup one and it was phenomenal. A little sweet, but really good. Want to come check them out in person and see their other flavors.

My brother told me this spot won the Cupcake Wars. He also mentioned that I’d never really know it. He was right. The cupcakes are good, though nothing really stands out in particular about them. Stop by if your sweet tooth is aching.

Not worth the time to stop the car. After hearing that they won on «Cupcake Wars» I was hoping this was going to be a good experience. First impression was great, very clean and the staff was very nice, but as they say, ’ the proof is in the pudding (or cupcake) in this case”.
We decided to purchase 6 of the mini cupcakes and 6 regular size before going out to dinner. All thru dinner we talked about how excited we were to go home and try the cupcakes. The excitement came to a grinding halt when we tried them. These cupcakes are average at best. Being in NJ, competition from local bakeries is fierce. I personally would suggest going to Calandra’s. You may not have the selection you get at House of Cupcakes but what you get will be of better quality.
The direct comparison that I can offer is the red velvet cupcake since both places offer it. I guarantee if you try the 2 side by side you will go with Calandra’s, hands down. The cake is more moist and the icing has much more flavor. Sorry, House of Cupcakes, but you need to up your game.

I made a Unilocal account a while back but never reviewed anyone yet but once I fell in love with this place I said I have to review it!
I first became familiar with this store because my gym (I know, strange!) had a cake out that looked absolutely adorable out one day for an event they were having. I had one of those mini cupcakes, which was delicious, and said I have to try more!
It’s a large store with plenty of seating and as soon as you walk in you immediately smell all the great treats. The first thing you see are their 30+ cupcake choices, but they have more. They offer ice cream (which is normal ice cream flavors and that’s perfectly fine because its a cupcake store), they offer cookies, cheesecakes, and all types of treats.
I’ve tried multiple cupcakes and one cookie. The cupcakes are up there in my list, my favorite cupcakes are in D.C. and since that’s not around the corner, these are next best. The flavors are great! I love the espresso brownie, the coconut custard, the peanut butter cups, etc. They ALWAYS taste fresh, never stale or old. My thoughts about people complaining about sweetness even on the Clifton site is… THEYRE CUPCAKES! It’s not supposed to be light. Although if you do want one on the lighter side, the coconut custard is very light compared to others.
They also offer gluten free, vegan and sugar free cupcakes which is nice because no one will feel left out.

Vegan Cupcake Alert!
After hearing, from two different people within a week, that they heard that «the new cupcake place by Panera has vegan cupcakes!» I took that as a sign to stop by and give them a try — especially since cupcakes are my thing and the bakery is on my way home from work. :)
When I got there, they were all out of vegan cupcakes (chocolate) upfront, which is a good thing!, but the girl went back to check to see if they had any more in the back (and they did!) so she offered to decorate some for me (ice them). I had a choice of chocolate or vanilla icing — so I got a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing.
They definitely did not disappoint. The cake was pretty good, but the icing was fantastic! Just the right amount of sweetness and had a rich, chocolatey taste. I’m looking forward to trying the vanilla out next time!
Compared to how much I’ve paid for specialty cupcakes in the past, these were a steal at $ 2.95 each. Currently, they only have chocolate (and sometimes vanilla) with both chocolate and vanilla icings but I’m hoping that they’ll expand upon those flavors and add some fun exciting ones for the vegans — as their selection for non-​vegan cupcakes looks fantastic!
Note: They also carry gluten-​free, sugar-​free cupcakes and Pup-​Cakes (for your dog).

I’ve been to the Clifton location a bunch of times, so I was excited to hear that this location was opening (it’s near my office). I stopped in to buy a cupcake and I was pleasantly surprised.
This Wayne Location is easily double the size of the Clifton location. They offer tables and chairs, which is something the Clifton location desperately needs. It’s nice that they offer this so you can sit down with your friends or family to enjoy that cupcake, cookie, or ice cream sandwich right away.
I ordered the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough cupcake, since it was my favorite from previous visits to Clifton. I’m so glad I did too. The cupcake dough was so soft and moist. You could tell that it was freshly made. The Wayne location seems to offer fresher products. This will definitely be my go to location going forward.
P. S. They offer a punch card. You get a punch each visit and after 10 punches you get a free cupcake.

Cupcakes are just ok. I bought a dozen with a groupon. I tried the mint chocolate chip. it was good… some of the other ones were way too sweet and way to much icing. The carrot cake one has butter cream icing not the cream cheese icing you would expect.
Next time I will try there cookies. they have a huge selection…

We had been waiting for the new cupcake store in the Brentwood Shopping Center to open for a few weeks, and boy we were not disappointed!
We went in this past weekend and bought a 6 pack of cupcakes, a few decorative cookies, and had handmade ice cream sandwiches in the store. Oh my goodness, everything was so good. The carrot cake and cookie dough cupcakes were amazing and my nieces loved the decorative cookies (we got a watermelon and sandals)!
We will definitely be going back soon, and the check in offer for 10% off was a bonus!
