Main Line Vision

Main Line Vision is great! My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Hack for about a year. Dr. Hack is always friendly and professional. For my most recent visit, I was able to conveniently schedule an appointment on a Saturday. Mary did the screening right away and I didn’t have to wait. Dr. Hack did a thorough exam. Afterwards, Mary patiently helped me choose a pair of glasses that best fit my style. I always have a good experience at Main Line Vision!

I visited for the first time today, in need of a prescription for new progressive eyeglasses. The staff made the appointment and a schedule change effortless. I saw Dr. Haak. I am super-​impressed.
I came in sort of dazed with lack of knowledge about insurance, how to deal with problems I’d encountered with my previous glasses, and of course stress that comes with vision problems. When I left I felt well looked after, educated, and cared about.
Mary did an initial screening and Dr. Haak saw me promptly. I received a thorough eye exam accompanied by an understanding and kind style.
Then, Kathy as well as the doctor guided me through the selection process. Brian marked and fit the progressive lenses. Everything is done, they’ll call when the glasses are ready, and I feel confident. This is my third time getting a prescription and being fitted for eyeglasses and this experience was the best so far.
Note: Be sure you know where the building is when you go for your first appointment. It’s in a business park with many offices. When I scheduled the appointment I was given a tip on how to drive left and back etc.
Update: Got em! The correction they offer is wonderful: so nicely fine-​tuned for all purposes: reading, checking a dashboard or computer, and driving. Very glad I came here.

Customer service is terrible. When I picked up my glasses, they didn’t even offer to «fit them» for me and when I requested it, they said, if there is a problem with the fitting, to just come back. When I did come back, the person who adjusted them didn’t even see how they fit on me before he took them and adjusted them. Condescending, is correct.

Nope, nope, nope, and nope.
[TL; DR = This place has unreliable service, treats their clients condescendingly, and tries to sneak extra charges onto your bill.]
First of all, my appointment for a typical eye exam was canceled (because the doctor wasn’t in that day?) and then moved to the date of my choice, and then ON THAT DAY, they called me to say my time wasn’t available, when I had called TWICE to confirm the date a week prior. I rescheduled for a week later, since they apparently were too busy to accommodate a client that had been rescheduled twice already.
When I got there, it only went downhill. The doctor (as far as I could tell, the only doctor – the practice is very small and I only saw two other employees) was condescending and rude. I went in with an issue (corneal inflammation) that I tried to explain to him. After hearing my explanation with an eyebrow-​raised, I-don’t-believe-you expression, he proceeded to turn back to his computer and say, «Well, I don’t really know from that vague description.»
Um. Well. That’s where YOU come in, isn’t it? You’re supposed to be examining my eye? The rest of the eye exam was similar, with him brushing off any concerns I had and basically speaking to me as if I was an idiot.
After the exam was over, the receptionist kept me sitting in the waiting area for a further TWENTY minutes while they «checked my insurance». From start to finish, I was the ONLY client in the practice. It does not take 20 minutes to check insurance, especially when I only had a simple eye exam. I suspect (though I admit I have no proof) that they were looking for ways to add more charges onto the bill.
As a further note, my sister went here for a standard eye exam a little while ago and received similar service (I thought she was exaggerating, hence my ill-​advised choice). We recently also discovered that they added extra charges like «Conjunctivitus treatment» onto the bill… none of which were relevant to the standard exam she got.
