Whittle’s Watch Works

What a cool guy. I’m a first time customer and brought an old trench watch in to be serviced. Peter took a look at it and gave me a price, but also explained how even if he did service the piece, it would not make much of a difference. We discussed it a little bit and in the end decided that the servicing would not be needed.
This guy seriously cares about his customers, he is going to be my go to watch guy from here on out.

Literally almost escalated into a physical confrontation…
The job I had him attempt was to install a correct bezel and bracelet on my vintage Speedmaster. The issues I had with him were:
1) he wasn’t able to install the bezel and bracelet (the bracelet he didn’t even attempt)
2) didn’t have enough knowledge about the specific model and parts
3) lost the original strap I brought the watch on
4) reinstalled the original bezel he took off crookedly
5) unresponsive to emails or calls
6) wasn’t sure what parts (very expensive parts) I left with him
So after a few frustrating weeks, I gave up and went to pick up the watch. He charged me $ 40 for his time. Essentially, I would be paying him $ 40 to misalign the original bezel and take my watch strap. I questioned the cost and he immediately started dropping F bombs. He then got his buddy involved and the dude got up as if he wanted to fight me! He literally called me a «piece of $hit»! Like… what??? Well that escalated quickly. I just wanted to hear what issues he ran into that prevented him from completing the job but he got offended and quickly. So yea. Pretty horrendous experience. And he’s volatile.

Excellent service. The owner was trained in US and Switzerland and he was very nice and a good craftsman. I am glad my friend referred me to this place.

We just moved here. What a great experience. We’ll be back with more watches soon Mr Whittle is a true expert who takes pride in his work and tells it straight.

Peter is the man! My Tudor Watch had a speak of dust and he cleaned the watch and resealed it! A master of new and old watches. Very personable and reasonable, I highly recommend for your clock and watch repairs!

Went to get a simple battery replaced on my Tissot daily. He did that very quickly while I waited as there was no one else in the store. It was also a very fair price. I had also brought in my Tag which had a loose clasp and he fixed it free of charge (it was a simple adjustment). The man clearly knows his time pieces. Great experience all around!

I took my automatic watch in for service with Peter. He is very friendly and does excellent work. My watch was off by about 26 seconds and day and is now running excellently. I would recommend him to anyone in the great Philadelphia area needing work done on their watch or clock.

My wife, her mother and I have been to Whittles for watch repair, battery replacement, clock repair and other repair. I understand his short hours and appreciate his ability to enjoy life while keeping a great business. Do you know what it’s like to repair such intricate watches and clocks. I’ve seen this guy at work, the brain surgeon of watches/​clocks. We have been extremely happy with his service and pricing. See you soon

Peter has serviced 3 of my watches in the last 7 years. He can perform most work on site too! I have been always satisfied with his craftsmanship. His prices are fair, ESP for being in the heart of the main line. He may not be the fastest but Rome wasn’t built in a day, nor was the Sistine Chapel painted overnight. I was very happy to have a good excuse to buy another watch while mine was repaired. :)

One of a dwindling number of true Swiss trained watchmakers, Peter is a treasure. Knowledgeable, patient, enthusiastic, and profoundly honest, you can trust him with any horological challenge from a Breguet tourbillon to changing the battery in a Swatch. An artisan requires time to work to his high standard. Don’t rush him, simply appreciate his work.

Excellent service, very quick and detailed. Owner is very helpful and seems to be quite knowledgeable. A great experience.

I’ve taken our watches here several times. I love this place because it’s the only one I’ve found that will work on Tag Heuers without sending it off to the manufacturer for just a battery change. They know how to do it without voiding the warranty since the watches are waterproof.
It’s a tiny tiny shop on S. Wayne ave, and it does seem like they’re busy quite a bit. (Twice I’ve been when there was a sign on the door that said «No new work» because the owner was returning from vacation — but they took my watch anyway.) But I’ve always gotten my watches back in a timely manner — same day or next for battery changes. This time the pin needed work as well as a new battery and it took a few weeks, but only because, again, he’d just returned from vacation.
He only takes cash or check, no CC’s. And he’s only open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Dude knows how to live. :-)
