Description

Specialties

«We’re not just Shopping, We’re an Experience»! One of our customers told us that and it stuck.

See why Scallywag’s is the premier consignment furniture and décor store in the Western Carolina Mountains. Grab a cup of our coffee and browse artfully arranged vignettes of gently used furniture, art, and everything else you need to decorate your home.

History

Established in 2007.

Scallywag’s opened for business on January 2, 2007 in 5000 sq. ft. of warehouse space. Since then, the showroom has grown to 10,000 sq. ft. filled with great bargains on gently used furniture and all the décor you need to spice up your home.

The owners both left thriving businesses in St. Petersburg, FL. to relocate to the beautiful North Carolina Mountains. While shopping for furniture for their new home they found great deals in consignment furniture stores and the inspiration for a new business.

When Scallywag’s opened, there were no other consignment furniture stores in the Western North Carolina area and most local home owners were either donating directly to worthy causes or sending their furniture to the land fill.

We rapidly became so successful with furniture coming in and going out every day that we adopted «I Should’a Bought It When I Saw It» as our motto. Our regular shoppers all know not to delay purchasing their favorite pieces because they will be gone soon.

Meet the Business Owner

Scott G.

Business Owner

Scott has been self employed nearly all his life. After selling real estate in Ohio in the 70’s and a brief stint as a plumber, he became a massage therapist licensed in the state of Florida in 1980. After 25 years in a successful business there, he retired, briefly, and, in 2004 purchased a home in Waynesville, NC.

While shopping for furniture for the new mountain home he purchased great bargains in consignment stores in Florida. Soon after settling in the mountains he realized that he wasn’t actually retired but only unemployed. After considerable investigation into the in’s and outs of the consignment industry, and with the help of his partner he launched Scallywag’s in 2007.

Today, he is grateful for the consignors and shoppers that have helped to make Scallywag’s the succes that it is.
