History

Established in 1950.

In 1950 the Bloomer family relocated from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to purchase Wayzata Chevrolet which was located on Lake and Superior Boulevards, just west of the Wayzata Bay Center.

The dealership was renamed Village Chevrolet Company and in the late 1950’s moved to the Wayzata Collision building which is located just off Hwy 15 and Wayzata Boulevard. Another move in 1965 placed Village Chevrolet in the building it is located in today.

The company grew into Village Automotive Group through the addition of two more franchises, Mitsubishi and Lexus.

Today, the Village Automotive Group consists of Village Chevrolet, Lexus of Wayzata, The Bargain Lot and Wayzata Collision Center all located in Wayzata just off Hwy 394 and Hwy 15; and Lexus of Maplewood located off Hwy 694 and Hwy 61 on the east side of the Twin Cities.

We are proud to have 300 plus employees, some of whom have experienced the growth and expansions of the organization since its beginning.

Meet the Manager

Larry Z.

Manager

Larry has been with the Village Automotive Group for 31 years. He has been the Production Manager for 14 years at Wayzata Auto Collision Center. Prior to being the Production Manager, Larry worked in the Parts Department for 17 years at Village Chevrolet. His favorite part about working at Village Chevrolet and Wayzata Auto Collision Center is the great people! Outside of work, Larry likes to race a Wissota modified racecar on the dirt tracks around Minnesota and Wisconsin. Racing has been in Larry’s family for many years. Larry and his wife Sara have 3 children: Amanda, Mahayla and Lucas. He is very family oriented, spending his spare time with his kids. Larry has a goofy side and enjoys going out in public wearing his «Billy Bob teeth.» We appreciate Larry’s dedication to the Village Automotive Group and the customers he helps every day.
