R & K Cafe

The food was ok. The chicken fried steak was tender enough to cut with a fork. Green beans had a bit too much garlic for my tastes.
The big negatives were the heavy tobacco smoke smell and the servers were inattentive (we arrived about 2 PM and I think we were one of four parties). The chalk board listed pies as homemade, but two lemon cream pies in the case were in boxes labeled «Chef Pierre».
Overall, disappointing considering how the hometown crowd raves about R&K.

This restaurant opened a week ago. While a family member was in the hospital, I ate breakfast, brunch, lunch and/​or dinner there everyday. The price is exceptional for the quality of the food. Best chicken fried steak I have had in a long time. The large rib eye was big enough for two & so very well cooked & tasty. As good as any expensive restaurant in town. Friendly, caring servers who fixed me coffee, really good filtered water w/​lemon to go (Weatherford water is awful, especially at the hospital), were concerned about me This is a great place, close to the jospital, good, reasonably priced food, super coffee & good people. It won’t break the bank & you will be pleasantly surprised at the value for so many choices. Don’t miss that chicken fried steak, super gravy & homemade desserts.
