I cannot believe there are no other reviews for this place. Admittedly it has been open several years though and Thursday was the first time I wandered in to check it out. And I almost didn’t. This is one of those«don’t judge a book by its cover» sort of places. From the parking lot it looks a little empty and like it’s going to be yet ANOTHER consignment shop that has 20 items in sizes SMALL and EXTRASMALL and nothing else. If this is YOUR impression from the parking lot, as it was mine, well understand that you could not be more wrong. Go in. Really. It’s ok. Promise. Inside, you will find that this is a hidden gem especially if you like expensive brand name merchandise for a fraction of the original cost. The proprietor stocks the good stuff and while I generally am not one to buy anything because of a label or designer name on it I do know quality when I see it. And while this shop does not contain racks & racks of outdated clothes nobody wants(you know who you are«other consignment shop!) like so many others do, it does have ample racks of carefully chosen, extremely gently used(read: most looks brand new & never worn) beautiful name brand clothing. Does the store have tons more SMALL&MEDIUM sized clothing than PLUSSIZED clothing — yes, much more — as most consignment shops do. BEGINON-TOPICRANT: But hear this BIGGIRLS, THISREALITYISNOTTHEFAULTOFCONSIGNMENTSTORES. It is also not a subtle statement by the store’s owner that they only want size 2 women in their stores. It is a supply problem. Bigger girls have a mortal fear of gaining lost weight back again so what happens to that entire wardrobe of Size 18⁄20 clothes when you lose weight & are a size 12⁄14? Does that bigget size wardrobe of clothes end up in a lovely consignment shop like My Friend’s Wardrobe? No. Because the bigger girls, fearing inevitable weight gain in the future, hoards those bigger clothes. So, hear me now bigger girls, if you want consignment shops to be filled with racks of plus size clothing, you have to offer such clothing to them to sell! Do not hoard it, in secret, CONSIGNIT and make a nice chunk of change! How do I know this reality to be true, you ask? Because I worked at a consignment shop in GA and we had only 1 lady who was a plus-sized customer who consigned her clothing. Only 1. And her stuff flew off the racks within 2 days of her dropping it off. And how many plus-sized customers did we have who came in DAILY only to be outraged that our plus-sized section was virtually non-existent? At least 50 — a day! So, big girls take heed, if you want consignment shops to carry your sizes YOUMUSTPARTICIPATEINTHEPROCESS — and not just as an end-user shopper complaining that the plus-size selection is inadequate but as CONSIGNERS yourselves. Ok — ENDOFRANT. In spite of the aforementioned SUPPLYPROBLEM, My Friend’s Wardrobe has ample stock of ALL sizes — small through 2x. It is clean inside with excellent lighting. The store is laid out in a cogent, thoughtful manner. The clothes are of high quality of the barely worn nature. The shoes look new and extremely gently used. I recommend you go now because she has an abundance of cute, strappy sandals for Spring. The jewelry in the case by the register is beautiful and full of temptation for the impulse buyer. I got a high quality NAMEBRAND purse that has buttery leather because of its quality workmanship, a pair of magenta sandals, and a Talbots Petite pair of pants in my size(that fit me like a glove!) and a necklace all for $ 52! Considering the pants NEW would have cost over $ 100 alone, I thought this was EXCELLENT consignment shopping! I have NODOUBT that I will be returning to My Friend’s Wardrobe again & again.
