TAKA Dog Walk

I live in Weehawken. My wife and I were walking down Liberty Place towards Pathmark the Sunday after Thanksgiving and we saw a man and a woman walking away from us with a few dogs about 50 ft down the sidewalk.
The man had a couple dogs to his left and a small white dog to his right, all leashed. The white dog started yipping at the dogs on the left and the man stopped to correct the dog.
This «correction» came in the form of a swift kick. I’m aware of the corrective «kicks» that people see on the Dog Whisperer or wherever it may be. I’m even from the school that this can be very useful. But this wasn’t an 85 pound labrador, it was a 20 pound Pomeranian. The man put some considerable force behind the leg. If there was a question as to the strength of the kick, the dog squared off on the man. It clearly didn’t take kindly to being knocked across the sidewalk. The man proceeded to lift the dog by the leash and continued walking down the street with the dog dangling on the end of the cord, swinging helplessly. My wife and I were shocked. We stopped and stared ahead at this dog dangling by the neck, swinging along as the guy continued walking down the sidewalk after his partner.
Needless to say, we were pretty pissed off. My wife went up ahead toward the grocery store. I waited a few minutes and drove up to the couple on the corner of Potter Place and Columbia Terrace. I pretended to be interested in a dog walker and lied about having a couple of mutts.
Beatrice seemed extremely kind. Paul seemed nice enough, which was a pity. I was hoping he would be a dick. I eventually asked them about their dogs. They were boarding several of them at the time: a beautiful young Ridgeback, a Staffordshire, and some other cute mutts. When I asked which ones were theirs, I was grateful (if you can call it that) to find out that it was his own dog that he was kicking and swinging around like a rag doll.
If I had to put money on it, I honestly don’t think that Paul does this with other peoples’ dogs. But if Paul doesn’t have the discretion not to kick and dangle his own dog by their throat while walking down a city street on a Sunday morning in broad daylight, are you going to trust your animal to him?
Paul, I would love to know why you take part in the business. If you can’t handle yourself, leave the work to Beatrice. Or take them for separate walks, Paul. Train your dog solo so they aren’t aggressive toward your clients, and then you don’t have to worry about stuff like this. But damn, don’t kick and dangle them like a yo-​yo. Just because you don’t have hate in your heart doesn’t mean it’s not animal abuse. Yes, take that in.
I would hate for any of this behavior to be explained away or chocked up to tough love — so anyone who reads this can feel free to communicate with me. Slander is a thing and publishing shit like this is illegal if it’s made up.
Good luck to Beatrice who I hope is either ignorant to what’s going on or looking for a new partner in the business. And good luck to you if you decide to reward stunts like this with your patronage. But most of all, good luck to Paul. By all other accounts, you seem to have an amazing thing going — though by this account you seem intent to squander it.

We have such amazing things to say about this company! Not only do we use them for daily walks, but we have also used them for overnights as well. They are super friendly and we love getting the picture updates daily of our happy little pup. We have been using Taka since our pup was 8 weeks old and now she is 7 months. We have seen such an improvement on her walking skills as well as her response to our commands. They work with her daily on her skills and also set a good routine for me to follow as well. When we are out on the weeknights/​weekends and we see our dog walker my dog goes nuts with excitement to see him. She obviously loves him and enjoys the time they spend together everyday. We chose Taka for our pups first overnight stay and things went great. We received pictures and texts throughout the weekend which made me feel like she was in good hands. I can’t say enough good things about this company and I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a dog walker!

Paul and Beatrice are fantastic people and great at what they do. Paul walks my dog Mason and i can tell by the photos they enjoy each other’s company. Since using Takadogwalk, Mason is no longer crated during the day and I come home to a tired dog and an undamaged home. I would recommend their services to anyone seeking a reliable walker for their 4 legged family member.

I happened to be online and noticed a strange review online. What I find most intriguing about this review is that it’s from a person who just starting Unilocaling in October which is the same time as this review. Could this review be written by their competitors’ friends? We have never, and I repeat NEVER had an issue with Taka Dog Walk. They take their job seriously, and they really care for each and every pet. I’ve always gotten an update, they have never left my door open, nor left us hanging. To me it’s obvious that someone is intimidated by their success and will stoop to such a low level to leave a bad review. All you have to do is read the rest of their reviews to know that your pet is always in good hands with them.

My pup and I have used Taka Dog Walk since she was 8 weeks old, now she is a whopping 1 year. In that whole crazy chaotic puppy time, Taka has been my breath of relaxation. There is an odd review below about being a poor service but it was completely opposite for me and all the other puppy mommies in the area. I get constant updates, they are always flexible and my dog adores them. In the last 10 months of using them, I have never been upset with them

My wife and I have used TAKA Dog Walk’s services for a little over a year now. It’s sad that all good things must come to and end.
We are moving so we will no longer be clients anymore :(

We are so please to welcome BB into our home, Gabby and Chloe already love her. BB is great with the dogs, very friendly and listens and understands all of my pup’s needs. I can’t say enough great things about her and we just started!!! I love that she works hard to fit us in when she is booked solid and can take the pups out for a little break! The pictures she sends during the walks are great!!! Love the service, my dogs are now spoiled!!!

I’ve been using taka dog for a walk for about six months now not only does my dog love the staff but she has been more well behaved they are extremely professional and truly love dogs I couldn’t ask for better dog walkers as well as a dog I love them I don’t like a lot of people in my home and I feel completely trustworthy with them coming and taking my dog for walks they are just simply the best dog walkers I have ever had and my dog will wait at the door for them to come they run a truly respectable business which I love thanks so much to the staff of taka a dog walk for their flexibility and nothing but helpfulness can’t say enough good things about this company

There are no words to truly describe how amazing Paul and Beatrice are!!! I interviewed several dog walkers and felt eh; but that all changed when I met Paul and Beatrice. I adopted a rescue who was a bit temperamental and she was my first dog as a adult and they were always there to help guide me and help with training. They continue to spend time guiding me. My girl, Madison, was recently sick and they were so warm and caring during that time. Yes, this is their business, but they LOVE LOVE love what they do. They send you updates with your pet in real time. It’s not a simple note that went for a walk and did their business. They tell you all about your pets mood and send you pics in real time. Being in law enforcement I find it difficult allowing someone in my home. NOt them! I have a weird schedule and they work around me; which is amazing. They will even accommodate you last minute if can. This is not a temporary job for them. This is their career and livelyhood. The company is insured and bonded. Their pricing is more than fair. I can’t say enough. I would 100% recommend them to anyone.

I have the pleasure of being connected to the two best animal caretakers one could ever wish for to look after my most precious jewel, Koko. Koko is a 15-​year old Chow Chow who shows affection to a select few (as most Chows do) and she absolutely adores Beatrice and Paul. Hands down or should I say paws down, they are not only two of the nicest people you’ll meet, they are professional and extremely reliable. There have been at least 2 – 3 occasions when I mistakenly didn’t schedule them and realized at the last minute — Beatrice and Paul came to my (and Koko’s) rescue and took care of her at a moments notice. I’ve scheduled them for mornings, afternoons (mostly), and evenings, and they’re always there and I haven’t had any cancellations from them. As someone who is very protective of her four-​legged baby, I trust Beatrice and Paul 100% and HIGHLY recommend their services.

There are no words to express how highly I recommend Paul & Beatrice. They are simply put, amazing. They have the utmost professionalism, compassion, dedication and KINDNESS for both their animal and human clients. I hired Paul & Beatrice after having gone through several dog walkers because my 6 year old pit bull was having massive anxiety with anyone coming into the house to walk him. Paul & Beatrice spent MONTHS working with him, coming to our house twice, sometimes three times a day so Duke would become more familiar and trust them, attending training sessions with a professional dog trainer, researching new options and working with me to figure out the best solution — it was not easy and very, very stressful. I have never meet two people more dedicated to making a situation work. They are always positive, with a ‘can-​do’ attitude. They are honest and trustworthy — anyone who gets to work with them should consider themselves lucky. They are also very upfront and honest about their commitments and whether they can take on an extra walk or come at a different time — I never have to worry that they are doing what they say they are, when they said they are going to do it. The text updates are literally the highlight of my day and I share them with my fiancé, who thinks it’s just amazing to be able to see pics of them during the day. Thank you Paul & Beatrice for everything you do for us, we literally cannot express our appreciation enough.

I moved to Weehawken temporarily for 4 months while my apartment was being renovated. It was a super stressful move (what move isn’t?). I have 2 elderly big dogs that have very different needs. One is starting to have mobility issues while the other needs his exercise. My biggest fear during my stay in Weehawken was the happiness and health of my beloved pets.
I am so thankful I found TAKA Dog Walk. It was such a relief to know TAKA was there to give my dogs the love & care they needed. The dogs loved all the attention and I loved that people I trust were there when I needed them. Sometimes I needed help last minute– and ALWAYS ALWAYS TAKA was there to help. Amazing service & amazing people.

Hands-​down the best dog walkers & sitters we have ever had for our dogs (babies).
They take great care of our dogs (they even sing to them!), are extremely helpful and considerate, and the dogs love them — they are all tails a-​wagging whenever Paul or Beatrice comes by. Superlative customer service. I love the daily email photo with comments about how the dogs are doing (not just a ‘did #1 and #2′ — actual sentences!). We have since moved out of the area and are so sad that we & the dogs don’t get to work with TAKA anymore! If you hire them, we are very jealous of you.

Taka Dog Walk is a life saver, by far the best dog walking service I have ever had. I have had my sweet girl (kailee) for over 7 years, she was a shelter dog and had issues being very aggressive with other dogs. She requires special attention and control when walking, if she’s not walked a certain way it could be pretty bad for another dog and/​or for her… Needless to say, hiring a dog walker isn’t easy and it’s really stressful for me. I’m always worried that she’ll be aggressive and the walker won’t have control. I’ve been working with dog walkers for over 4 years and BY FAR Beatrice and Paul are the most amazing walkers I have ever had.
Whey they came for the consultation Paul immediately was able to control my dog (in a very sweet way, think Cesar calm assertive.) I was so impressed, I couldn’t believe it and I already felt good about hiring them. It only got better from there…
They send multiple pictures daily, they really love what they do, you can tell by the candid shots they get of my girl, sooooo wonderful! Walking, running, tired, drinking water. Don’t forget the cute captions they send with every photo, it’s like I am taking the walk with her. All the nervousness/​fear/​guilt we as owners might have about leaving our dogs all day while we work and hiring a walker — GONE! I was excited every day to get their little updates, and in addition it was like verification that kailee (my doggy) was getting the full 30 min run in. Oh, and when I got home, my very active high energy doggy was relaxed and tired from her wonderful walk/​run! She loved them! On the weekends, when I didn’t need the service, kailee would run to the door at 2pm, so excited thinking Paul was going to be there and take her on her daily walk. Give your kids the activity they deserve while you’re working, the lack of guilt I have now and satisfaction of knowing kailee gets to relieve herself and get some exercise instead of being cooped up all day is ALONE worth double the price of this service!
I can’t say enough about Paul and Beatrice! You’re not going to find a better walker and their prices are totally reasonable, the same if not LESS than what you’re going to pay for those OTHER GUYS that only do really bad group dog walkers, that don’t send you any updates, give no special attention and you worry if they’re actually taking that full «30 min.»

We found this company on Unilocal.They took care of our cat for a week while we were out on vacation.
Their rates were reasonable and they took great care of our cat. On top of that, they sent us a photo daily by email just so we felt at ease about leaving our pets back home. Recommended!
