This library is jaw droppingly beautiful. It is set in a gorgeous mansion built as a miniature replica of a German castle. Weehawken’s books are living the dream, fireplaces, stained glass windows, spectacular circular staircases. Ah, if I could come back as a copy of Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises… They have some pretty nifty services too. Along with the typical DVD, children’s story time, and internet perks, they offer author visits, art exhibits, tutoring, and a book club for adults on Fridays from 1 – 3. This timing feels strange. Are they targeting ladies who lunch, senior citizens, college students, or all of the above? I definitely need to find out. Also at 3 pm on Fridays they have board games! I was very excited for this, envisioning meeting other geeks who love libraries AND scattergories. Alas, the board games are for kids. Sigh. Parking is rough. Other than that, weehawken offers a dreamy environment to read, work, or perhaps play scattergories.

So far It’s been great borrowing books for my little ones. They do offer a variety of activities for children and seniors but because it’s free it’s on a first come first serve kinda basis which I can’t be mad about. The staff is always ready to help and that I appreciate!
