Treasure Island Resort & Casino

I don’t go to casinos at all but so far I really like this one. My boyfriend and I stayed in their hotel for the weekend, went swimming at the lagoon, and gambled. I really love their chicken wings from their Xtreme Café. Probably the one of the best chickens wings I’ve had so far! Sadly, I didn’t get to try the buffet because it was so busy and the line was out the door. Overall, It was a nice getaway for the weekend.

What a horrible experience this mess of a so called casino and events center is. We received a mailing for 2 VIP seats for the game show. Called in advance to reserve as instructed. First off the free room was sold out and when we arrived the lines were literally unbelievable. Why do you call ahead to reserve and have to wait in line for seats? I’m so glad I hate this casino. I was invited from a friend who is a Diamond card holder. We ate at the overpriced slow service steak house. The steak was fatty and not cooked properly. Thankfully with his card the meal was free. Gambling is such a joke at this casino. Stay away and save your frustration and money!

Out of the way from everything, this casino has a mildly surly crowd and a harried staff. The prominently displayed ‘no guns on premises’ sign amidst some menacing groups of guests at the main entrance was certainly not encouraging. The internal décor was lavish, newish and clean but the demeanor of the guests left a lot to be desired, and the experience with staff was hit and miss.
The poker room has a mostly open floor plan, and the music is just way too loud. You couldn’t hear people talk while playing in the poker room (and by various accounts it was much worse the night before, when the casino had a band performing). While the casino allegedly plans to wall off the poker room soon with tinted plexiglass, it’s a less than ideal experience with all the outside noise. The poker room staff and management also seemed a bit disorganized and discombobulated. Even given the noise level, I was a little surprised at their difficulty given they never had more than 4 games running, and even when they only had 2 games going they seemed to have a hard time keeping things organized and running. To their credit, everyone working was friendly and made the best of it. I did like their game selection, though the cash game action was a little too tight for my taste.
I can see myself coming back given the chance, but it’s not a place I’d go out of my way to visit… especially after dark.

Visited for a two day work retreat. Every staff member I encountered was pleasant and professional. Will definitely be back.

Well I went to visit treasures island no fun sooo tight. Way to much smoke and the buffet is ok. It really is not fun I never win and it is boring. I went to the wave spa that was ok one star fie treasure island Boring! OH AND DON’T FIRGET THE RUDE STAFF. WOW!

I have gone here maybe 10 times since 92′. I like the size of it and the staff is nice. But I never, ever win on the slots. It’s almost funny how quick it takes your money, usually they at least toy with you, a little win here and there, not this place. I have been to a hundred casinos and I think this might be the tightest of them all. I won’t be back.

Gambling… It’s a huge problem and I prefer to not take part in much of it, especially in Minnesota. However, sometimes you just want to hangout with the family and let your little guy take in the new water park and enjoy some food.
Immediately, you see a lot of needed updates, but they stopped short of the rooms. Very much outdated and the beds are horrid. Far too soft and well broken in. Everything looks like it’s still from the 80’s, but there is one thing that you can;t overlook and the first hotel I’ve seen do it. What is the «it»? No tubs! That’s right, no tubs. Honestly, who takes a bath at a hotel anyways? You can finally take a shower, without flooding the bathroom because the curtain is basically useless.
As for the food, we ate at the buffet and is 100% better than Mystic and Grand Casino. It was actually pretty good and on the Friday night that we were there, it was Prime Rib Night and the prime rib was pretty darn tasty. I also enjoyed the rotisserie chicken, au gratins, mac n’ cheese, all the shrimp I could ask for, the prime rib (I know I said it twice) and the salad bar. I also enjoyed the homemade crepes and churned ice cream flavors they had.
We went for the new water park which was really nice, but I have a feeling everyone would feel a little claustrophobic if the place was packed. Not a lot of places to just sit, relax and watch the kiddos have some fun, but certainly nice. I liked the adults only area and EVERY hotel needs it! If you’re spending the weekend away from the kids or don;t have any to begin with, you just want to enjoy a space without all the yelling, screaming and running.
Walked into the bowling alley, looked very clean, but didn’t take part in any bowling. As for the other amenities, I really can’t hit on anything else, so you’ll just have to check the place out. And when you;re finished, IMMEDIATELY wash your clothing or burn it… If you’re not a smoker!

Staying in Rochester for appointments at the Mayo Clinic. We needed a break and decided to come here. Happy that we did! It’s about an hour drive through farm lands in the middle of nowhere. Very interesting and enjoyable drive! Nicely set up casino with generous slots and free drinks. We went to the seafood buffet. It was one of the best that I went to and cheapest. Way better then Atlantic City and Pennsylvania casinos! I would definitely go back if I lived here.

good buffet but you don’t win as good as you wish

HOTEL:
We got the last room available with the free coupon. Walking into the room, it appeared clean but dated. The desk provided a nice amount of table top space for miscellaneous stuff but the edges are all worn away to the bare wood color, very distinct from the dark varnish. The furniture is very stark, there is only one picture on the wall and the curtains are hideous reminding me of Hawaiian shirt patterning. The closet has a door on it and built in iron caddy. Nice little touches.
The bathroom is very large. There is a blow dryer, a coffee maker and ice bucket in the bathroom. The bathroom floor was tacky. The toilet paper was actually soft! Best TP in a hotel in a very long time. That made me happy :)
However, the outside of the shower current was beyond wrinkled. It looked like it was rolled in a ball to dry. The inside of the shower curtain snaps off to be replaced as needed. Cool idea. It should have been replaced, however. There were pink streaks on it, like from someone else’s shampoo or body wash. The towels were white, clean, thick and seemed new but not soft nor very absorbent.
On the other hand the mattresses and pillows were extremely soft — too soft. You could see that the mattress dips in while the bed was still made — with nothing on it.
I have stayed in worse places but never when the lobby and outside look so nice. I wish they would take some of the money that they are spending on the water park and make things nicer and more up to date instead.
If it had been nicer, I would be willing to go spend the night randomly for a stay-​cation and a full night of gambling. As it was, back to random short evening trips when we don’t have time to go further, such as Grand Casino.

We ate the xmas dinner buffet and it was great. Wifey had ham, prime rib, veggies and yams, child 1 had cormdoggers, clam chowder. Child 2 had corn and chicken sticks with chili. I had a big salad, prime rib, veggies and yams with cranberry sauce. It was an excellent deal

This review is for the remodeled Tradewinds buffet.
In a word, weak. The room is pretty (meeting, the remodel was successful: it’s very attractive), but man, the food was bad.
The old buffet was marginal, at best, with the possible exception of Thursday’s seafood buffet. You have to be picky about the crab legs, because many of the sets they put out our old and tired. But, if you get a fresh cluster of legs, they can be very good.
Haven’t tried the seafood yet since the remodel, but had dinner last night and it was uniformly awful. My wife tried about five different things, had one bite of each and couldn’t finish any of them. I tried a number of things too, managed one halfway decent piece of prime rib, and some good shrimp. Everything else was tasteless. It seems to us that everything was pulled out of the package and reheated partway. Even the pumpkin pie at the end of the meal was still frozen. It was a waste of the 20 bucks (with tip).
It just reaffirmed my feeling about Treasure Island Casino: they simply want to extract the maximum amount of money from their customers, and do not give a single rip about giving any value back in return. Other reviews of this casino reaffirm this in their promo policy. If you spend tons of money gambling, you get lots of modest enticements to come back and spend more. I suppose that’s the caveat emptor of casinos, but this one seems especially bad.
In fairness, our waitress was very nice. Perhaps that was a double-​edged sword, I should’ve complained about the terrible meal, and perhaps gotten a refund, but didn’t have the heart.

Finally made the trip out to Treasure Island. It is a long drive from the Twin Cities. You walk into the casino and it is pretty unbearable due to the smokey smell. They need to find a way to air this place out. If you want something fast to eat and don’t want to do the buffet your only option is the bowling alley and it is pretty gross. The staff is very nice and if you sign up for a players card you get a 12 pack off pop which is a nice touch. It is also nice that they do have a poker room. Don’t think I will be going back though due to the smell. Would rather play at Mystic lake or Canterbury.

We stayed at the rv park here which is a basic parking lot with hookups. No shade and pets weren’t allowed on the grass. Went into the casino looking for dinner and left immediately, barely able to stand the smell with all the smoking going on. I felt like I smoked a pack of cigarettes in the five minutes it took to walk through the place! I wouldn’t come back here.

Review of their Event Center:
Went here for a concert. A bit of a drive from the Twin Cities, but you go where you must to see certain musical acts. They’ve got plenty of free parking (or valet should you choose it). Once you’re inside the casino, just ask for directions to the Event Center. You’ll be directed through the casino, with all the wanderers and smokers and electronics’ noises. Once in the Event Center, there are a few different beverage stands, all selling the same booze, beer and wine. Prices on alcohol seem reasonable. There’s no smoking in the Event Center. They’ve got a nice size auditorium, with some bleacher-​seating around the periphery, and padded chairs set up on the floor. Stage was center, with two large screens on either side of it for easier viewing from odd angles and distances. Acoustics seemed fine. True to the strange practice of some Minnesota people getting up and leaving before the end of some event, people poured out of the auditorium before the concert was finished, making it distracting and chaotic for those of us who like to stay until the very end of a show. Getting out of the parking lot was quite a long wait.

No thank you. Reeks like smoke, no ventilation whatsoever … players club is a joke, randomly sends out promotions and then their reps claim that you are ineligible for promos due to limited on-​card play. This happened to us — relative who hadn’t visited for 9 months received tons of promos, whereas we received none having visited and played on player card only a month previous, even after always receiving them in the past. While the promos are nothing fabulous, they are enough to bring us in once in awhile since we live nearby. The buffet is only a tiny bit better than an Old Country Buffet, edible and fine if you have a BOGO offer, but not worth the amount they charge.
The hotel is nice enough, the pool is always clean and not crawling with unattended kids, but you do have to walk through lobby or casino floor to get to it. Bowling alley and arcade are great, and the dollar day deals are excellent.
For gambling, or stays without the kiddo, I’ll make the drive to Mystic Lake instead. It is cleaner, less smoky and the hotel, pool and buffet are much better. Also Mystic regularly sends good quality promos to players club members (free tickets to different events, free hotel rooms, etc.)
If you are equal distance to either casino, Mystic is a better venue.

First review of the year.
I am a fan of this place because it has almost everything here: slot machines, black jack tables, buffet, hotel, daycare, bowling alley, bars, restaurants and a swimming pool! Well of course it is a casino! It is located in the middle of nowhere in Minnesota. This place needs to have some sort of entertainment for all ages, right?!
I came here for Christmas because my family is too lazy to cook. My oldest sister decided to treat everyone to buffet. I arrived two hours early cause I didn’t know the buffet opens at 4pm, thanks to my sister I was starving since morning! In order to keep myself busy, I played one of the slot machines for a little bit. After losing $ 5 to the slot machines, I quit. I walked around and watched people play instead. You have all kinds of people here from young to older crowds. Most of the old folks probably takes the bus here from all part of town in Minnesota because they don’t drive and they love to have some fun! There is nothing wrong with that. I love it how people don’t really care how they dress here. I saw some people dressed in pjs, simple shirts and jeans, and rarely anyone dresses up to come here. No one is judging! They do have complimentary on soft drinks!
Finally my family arrived and I was still hungry. We get to the buffet at 4:15 and the line is ridiculously long just like Mystic Lake. When I say long, it is long, just picture yourself driving across Montana trying to get to your destination. Oh boy, luckily we got into the VIP line, less waiting. I was so happy when we got in right away. Reason why the line is long because it is seafood night and it happens to be on Christmas day! Spending around $ 25 is not bad for all you can eat crab legs and oysters! Well there are other sort of food in there too. They have great desserts as well, some are sugar-​free. I was impressed with their service because they are fast and friendly! I wonder how much tip could you make off from working at a buffet. I guess the bad thing about the buffet is the bathroom. It is outside the buffet area. I think you would need to bring a receipt with you when you come back inside.
Overall, my family had a great time at this casino. Great service and great food. If you love to gamble, this is the place!

Total wait to check in was over an hour and we were only about 6 people deep in the line when we got in it. If you dont have diamond or emerald status, they check you in only if there isn’t an elite status person waiting. Don’t stay at the hotel or plan on waiting forever to check in.
The non smoking hotel room smelled like smoke as did the entire hallway. I will go back to the casino, but I won’t stay in the hotel again.

While I can’t speak to the gambling experience, my aunt did have a good time at the slot machines (she won a little summin).
Came here on Thursday with the family for the infamous Seafood Buffet ($ 25 for 5 year olds and up). Tried to come early (before 6pm) to avoid the ridiculously long line, but that didn’t happen. We arrived at 6:50pm and didn’t get seated until 8:30pm. And that’s TYPICAL if you come during peak time.
TIP: come EARLY! Like 4−5pm or be prepared to stand in line for a couple of hours (no joke).
The crab legs ARE
and we certainly ate our wait’s worth and then some. And despite it being a buffet, our waitress was very attentive and super nice.
