And two years later, this bakery is still one of my favorites! It may not be the best but it brings back nostalgic feelings and i love the people who are always so friendly! Especially one lady who knows me by name and always gives me free cookies! I adore her! I love this bakery more than I love anything! Its always a treat to come in and smell the sweet stuff and all the decadent little treats! Nothing beats this place. And so thats all I got to say today. Till next time, go to this wonderful bakery!

Delicious desserts, I picked a bunch of mini pastries and they were all so amazing! I really can’t choose which is my favorite because a lot of them are delicious. The rainbow cake was just the right amount of sweet and was moist.

After seeing these reviews I had to make one of my own. even though everybody else acted like they were busy we were waited on by somebody very nice .I don’t like dry Italian cookies so I went straight for the cupcakes made from cannoli. these are some of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I also loved the cannolis that they made fresh for us. I can’t wait to go back so I can get more of the things I enjoyed.

Love, love, love this authentic bakery. Best rainbow cookies ever. Moist. Today my daughter brought me home St Joseph pastries and an extra large cannoli.

They are nice, but their rainbow cookies are not moist, they are actually dry and bland. I do like their pignoli cookies. I will not go back. I am not a fan.

Ok. I’m weighing in on this(no pun intended eek) debate on this small back block bakery just north off 27 on Little East Neck Road. I concur with both Dan and Tom! While Dan is right. there are some less than appetizing things. like oversized bright sprinkled colored cookies that do not look like butter cookies… there are also some things that looked and were great… validating Toms good rating. You have to bob and weave in these places … forage. separate wheat from chaff — See the photo of the St. Josephs aka Zeppole that are made with their own custard. and I critique various custards at Italian bakeries for years.(there is no pay for this odd job. but there is reward) and this one is a true egg custard. not too corn starchy. so… take a look at the St. Joseph and you will see there is something worth trying here. Also. my mother knows how to pick in these places too… she goes mostly for the Bocconotto and the Sfogliatelle. Can’t pronounce?. just look at the pics. and point when in the bakeries. :) I’ve done all can.

I spent five dollars here and wish I could get all of it back, and some. I had called ahead and a nasty woman answered the phone, and I witnessed the same thing in the flesh when I walked in. «Italy» wristbands littered the counter, probably newer than some of the«edible» items, contrasting the nostalgic string machine. About 2 solid minutes after she got off the phone, she acknowledged my presence and demanded an immediate order, which I refused to provide. I asked what certain things were, as they looked either unappetizing/old or like completely bastardized attempts at classics, and she just placed them in a box and didn’t answer me. When I asked her nicely to remove them because I didn’t want them, she groaned unapologetically(of course); to her credit, she spoke no English. When I finally got to leave, $ 5 poorer, I sampled the shit inside the box; I mean«shit» in the least euphemistic way. Everything was crazy light, in the way that you’re really confused and angry, all the while wondering if anything besides air is piped into the things – i.e., not in the good way some pastries can be simultaneously light AND flavorful(None of it weighed more than an ounce or two). The lemon drop tasted like uncooked bagel dough. They’re lucky the pignoli tart was decent, even if it didn’t add anything to the cookie, because an abyssmal one would’ve set me over the edge and this review to 1-star. Nothing else tasted even decent, and it wasn’t anywhere even approaching fresh. It’s really mind-bottling to me that this place has been around so long; with my mind securely in a bottle, all I have to say is «Yeesh».
