We provide everything you need — All you need is a dog and a leash. Professional grooming requires an appointment. Minimal crating/​caging, start to finish grooming in approximately 1 – 2 hours.

Scrubbers is a state-​of-​the-​art professional grooming facility designed for EVERY pet owner. You can do-​it-​yourself or we offer professional all-​breed dog and cat grooming services in a clean, calm, and caring environment. Either way, your pet is happy and healthy because they receive the one-​on-​one personal attention they deserve!

Self Serve — No Appointment Necessary.

All you need is a dog and a leash.

We provide everything you need…

premium soap free shampoo, towels, aprons, ear cleaner, 90 degree water, rakes and other tools.

Forced air blow dryers to blow out coat. ($ 2.50 extra)

Walk-​In nail trimming for dogs or cats $ 10. Grinding is $ 15.

Professional Grooming requires an appointment.

Scrubbers is open late, six days a week, so weekend and evening appointments are always available.

Start to finish grooming. Finished in approximately 1 – 2 hours.

No kenneling/​crating after the groom; you are called 15 minutes before your dog is finished so they can go right home to you.

Dogs are dried by hand with the forced air blow dryers.

We feature all inclusive pricing… grooms include premium soap free shampoo, conditioner, nail grinding if requested, pet cologne/​perfume spritz, bandana/​bows and any treatments necessary for skin problems.

History

Established in 2014.

Our first location, in Royal Oak opened April 1, 2010 and has been a hit among the pet community in Metro Detroit. Since there are not a lot of self-​serve dog washes in the area, we wanted to open a 2nd location to service more of the pet community!

Hi! My name is Nikki and I am the owner of Scrubbers. I will greet you personally when you come in to indulge your pet with an exceptionally wonderful bathing experience. I started fostering dogs and cats in college, and realized how strong of a passion I had for animals. Once I graduated, I moved home and found a job as a groomer, and I’ve been grooming since 2009. I was looking for a career that would excite me every day; I adore all dogs, «dog people» and «dog culture», and wanted to share my discovery of this newer concept in Dog Grooming with everyone.

Over the past years I have accumulated a wealth of insight, skills, and knowledge from hands-​on experience, reading, and from many remarkably talented pet groomers, trainers, and Veterinary professionals. I like to offer EVERY dog owner with a truly marvelous and easy, low cost alternative to home bathing. Not a Do-​it-​yourselfer? That’s okay, I also offer a lower-​stress, more attentive alternative to higher volume grooming shops.

We brought our beagle to Scrubbers about a month ago. The staff was very courteous and our dog liked not having to be picked up. We will definitely use Scubbers again.

Visited Scrubbers for the first time today with our 2 dogs. Staff was really helpful with the bathing process and getting us started. My issue is with the nail trimming service. I highly recommend avoiding this service unless the employee is a certified/​experienced groomer.
The employee who cut my dogs nails was initially very nice and receptive. She cut our first dogs nails extremely fast but without issue. As she started cutting our second dogs nails he screamed out in pain. She had accidentally cut the quick (blood vessel) under his nail. I wasn’t sure how to react but she didn’t skip a beat and quickly went on to cut the next nail. My dog screamed and cried in pain again. She now cut the blood vessel on two of his nails. She proceeded to roughly grab his paw and yell at him to stop moving. I have to be honest… she didn’t mistakenly cut my dogs blood vessels on two separate nails because he was fidgeting. He actually didn’t fidget until after she cut him twice and proceeded to roughly grab his paw in an awkward way. She had clearly cut my dogs blood vessels because of the abrupt and abrasive manner in which she was working. It was clear to both my husband and I. It wasn’t until she jostled his paw that I politely asked her to stop with the nail trimming. She became visibly irritated with us and stormed out of the room. Why? Good question. We wondered the same thing.
We left extremely upset and uncomfortable. She never at any point apologized to us or even explained what had happened. To be honest she never even said another word to us after it happened. After we had to ask her to stop the service she just became visibly annoyed with us and walked away. By the time we asked her to stop she had trimmed 3 nails, cut the blood vessel on 2 of those 3 nails, and then proceeded to (roughly) handle our dog with clear frustration and annoyance. We didn’t want to be rude but if that wasn’t the appropriate time to ask her to stop, when was?
This was just an extremely scary encounter to have with someone you would expect to hold to a more professional standard. Just be careful if getting your dogs nails trimmed by the staff. We visited the WB location but the woman we dealt with said she normally worked at the Royal Oak location.

Went in to scrubbers with my Great Dane and two children, the staff was very friendly and helpful, even got my kiddos stools so that they could help wash my dog. Dog came home smelling great and the price was very reasonable, we will be returning customers for sure. Glad we found this place, no more hair all over my bathtub at home !!

Scrubbers makes bathing dogs easy. I have a Bichon and scrubbers make bath time easy. They have every thing I need as well as fluffed dryers. The dryers help remove mats and is so powerful you can see the water spraying away. The only thing that I cannot stand is the drying room. You leave covered in dog fur, but it is unavoidable. Just make sure your next stop is home and not running errands. Many people with short haired dogs don’t blow dry anyhow. I pay $ 17.00 with the oatmeal package. Totally worth it. It’s better to have fur/​hair there instead of in my house.

Just picked my miniature schnauzer up and I have to say, this is the best groomer experience I’ve ever had. I’ve been to several groomers over the years and feel like something is always not quite right about her haircut. Scrubber’s has the schnauzer cut down pat!
Their facility is so nice and clean. There are several tubs for you to wash your dog yourself. I think I’ll bring her in just for baths instead of breaking my back in the bathroom tub.
Setting up the appointment was easy, they provided a confirmation text and phone call the day before as a reminder, and call you just when they’re finishing up to pick up your pet. They were always so friendly on the phone. I will say that I paid more for her haircut here than anywhere else, but just like anything else in life, you get what you pay for. And honestly, I dropped her off looking pretty darn mangy. I think it was a bargain considering how good she looks now.

Returned last Saturday. As always, a good experience except for one thing. They were very busy, which is fine. to be expected for the weekend. However, everytime someone used the dog blower, dog hair foo-​foos flew around everywhere even though the blower/​dryer area is to the side. We have a hypo breed because of my husband’s asthma and his ability to deal with a lot of flying hair. Some is ok, but there was lots! Needless to say, the man was miserable by the time we got home. Call me neurotic, but it was a little icky to have it flying around me, settle on my clothes, our dog, etc. Lesson learned… we will visit on a weekday now. I still really like all they offer.

Took our dog Reese there a few months ago to use the self wash and loved it. The staff was very pleasant and helpful!
Just returned today from getting Reese groomed and she looks great. I had been cutting her hair myself because we had not found a groomer we liked. Crystal was friendly and very nice, you can tell she loves her job! Reese even got a very cute bandana, which was such a nice touch and wsy better than bows! Will definitely be returning for both services in the future!

We used to take our golden doodle all the way to the Royal Oak location and were thrilled when the WB location opened up! Our favorite groomer, Crystal, also has hours here! We use both the self serve and the grooming and have been completely satisfied with both! It’s amazing to wash our stinky pup without breaking our backs and making our entire house smell like a wet dog. I recently tried the medicated shampoo on our pup while we were there and it made a world of a difference for her level of scratching (allergies). Keep a lookout in those local circulators for coupons (I got half off a wash once!) and I also have had Groupons once in awhile. We would easily pay full price anyway!

I’m so happy scrubbers open this new location in the neighborhood! I have been bringing my dog to scrubbers in royal oak for three year. And always happy about every visit! The new location is very clean and shampoo clean my dog well without hurting his skin. Staffs are all very friendly! I have recommended this place to my friends and will continue doing it!

I am so happy that Scrubbers is in the neighborhood! I took both my dogs today for a self-​serve bathing and I was so pleasantly surprised. Everything is explained in detail so you can’t mess up even if you wanted to. They have steps up into the tubs for your dogs comfort, the attachment in the tub is rock solid so your dog won’t be jumping out of the tub anytime soon, water temperature is set for 90 degrees so you can’t burn your little puppy, the place is spotless, fresh shampoo and conditioner for each customer, special tearless face wash and ear cleaning solution right at your station. Clean towels and brushes and a dryer are all at your disposal.
If you don’t want to wash your dog yourself or you have special grooming needs, they will do the grooming and I can attest to Nicky’s (the owner’s)
talents as a groomer. My Miniature Schnauzer comes out looking like a champion when Nicky grooms her. No more 8 hours in a cage either. They are doing their best to schedule so dogs have the least amount of crate time as possible.
They even have a very affordable dog walking service which has been a godsend to me since I have had back issues and haven’t been able to walk my dogs myself.
All in all, I welcome Scrubbers to the area and look forward to lots more baths and happy puppies!

My dog loves car rides but hates bath time so I was hoping that combining the two things might make it easier for him. Along with the extra socialization this was definitely the case for me and my best friend. Not only was the staff exceptionally friendly but they were very knowledgeable too. They walked me through the whole process of bathing my dog at their facility, they even took the time to show me where he was shedding the most and gave me some pointers on how to best remedy this during the bath.
Between having access to professional grooming equipment and my dog being occupied with all the excitement around him it made bath time fun and easy.
If you like having a clean dog and hate having to sit on your knees to bath them in the tub, this is the place for you. Of course my biggest pet peeve about any place I go is cleanliness and this place is above and beyond clean. Definitely a 5 star business.

Great to see Scrubbers open a location closer to where I live. All the great features of the Royal Oak location are here — except there are six tubs instead of four!
Scrubbers Dog Wash is in the Northwestern/​14 Mile/​Orchard Lake Triangle area in a strip with lot parking. This location is larger and very welcoming when you walk in. Nikki greeted me and Ruby by name (she is so nice) and set us up in the system at this location. Easy, only took a couple of minutes. I always get the Oxy-​Med Treatment package (+$ 6 to price of wash) and upgrade to the Double-​Motor Dryer ($ 4⁄15 minutes). We use the Oxy-​Med because Ruby has hot spots and sensitive skin. We had tried a lot of things before trying this, at the recommendation of Scrubbers, and the results have been amazing — plus she sheds a little less which is impressive for an Aussie! Not sure what you want, just ask — the staff is very helpful. If you have a dog with a double coat or long fur don’t mess around and just use the high powered dryer — it will be a lot quicker and your dog will actually be dry! Well worth the couple of dollars.
Same process here, they pull out the stairs to the tub and help you get your dog secured while you put on an apron. The scrubbers, amazing rakes, wash cloths, ear cleaner, eye cleaner, and towels are all easily at hand. They will mix up your selected shampoo and condition while you rake your dog or get them wet. Ruby enjoys a good massage with the scrubbers :-) The sprayer makes it a lot easier for you to bathe your dog and the non-​slip mat in the tub makes it easier for your dog to stand there. If you decide to use a dryer, they will help you get your dog over there and show you how it works. It used to take me about 30 minutes to get my dog dry and with the high powered dryer, it is only 15 minutes which is fantastic when your dog hates being blow dried. When you are done just stop by the register to pay, maybe pick up one of the dog treats or a new collar.
Scrubbers is great and I couldn’t recommend it more highly for a self dog wash or dog groomer. It makes it so much easier and you don’t have to clean up the mess! We haven’t had Ruby groomed at this location but, I won’t hesitate to take her here in the Spring. They did a great job with her last summer.
