Not a good restaurant. We went twice. Szechuan tofu was a complete disaster.

Sakura was a nightmare of inefficiency and health hazards at the site of our former beloved Indian restaurant. I was served broken glass there and when I told the waitstaff the reply was; «That happens sometimes». This restaurant opened as «Panda West» which confused and angered many long time customers of Panda North. This place is usually empty when I drive by. I wish we had a quality Chinese restaurant in West Brattleboro, but I’m afraid this probably isn’t it.

We got the flyer on the door and decided to try it out for my birthday. 2 hours later they decide to show up. What a joke. Trashed the menu.

My husband & I just moved to Brattleboro and we were looking for a good sushi restaurant. We went downtown and were disappointed. Then we saw this place and decided to give it a try. Its great! Our favorite is the rock and roll. It taste very good and we will continue to be customers here. :)

Stopped in to try. Found the restaurant comfortable and welcoming. Staff was pleasant and accommodating and food was above par. Portions were generous and prices reasonable. We’ll come back.

I left a long review and don’t see it. Love this place. Their sushi is the best in town by a large margin.

VT Asian Gourmet(formerly named Panda West) was formerly Sakura, which moved from a hotel restaurant space across town to its current location about a year ago. VT Asian Gourmet serves up a good variety of Chinese dishes, Japanese dishes, and sushi at moderate prices. Chinese & Japanese lunch specials are served Mon-Sat until 3PM. See the menu and pricing at While passing through the area during a snowstorm, I pulled into VT Asian Gourmet for lunch takeout. The place was pretty quiet around 2:45PM. I ordered the L12 Shrimp in Garlic Sauce($ 7.25 plus tax) served with choice rice(I chose brown) and choice of soup(I chose Hot & Sour Soup). My order was ready in about 10 minutes after ordering. The 6 shrimps(firm and cleaned) with fresh vegetables(broccoli, snow peas, green peppers, onions) in a light sweet(not too thick) sauce was a modest lunch portion, though the dish could’ve had more flavor and more sauce. The brown rice was cooked firm, just right. The hot & sour soup(egg, tofu, celery, carrots, fungi, mushroom) was not too spicy, Overall, this food I had was simple and fresh, and pretty decent. I would stop in again to try some other dishes on the menu.
