Just browsing Unilocal looking for a spot for dinner Thurs. night with my cousin. I always go to Crawdaddy’s and love it. Typically we sit at the bar and get some appetizers. Favorites are: Cajun popcorn with that mustard sauce, with a side of voodoo sauce for dipping. CAREFUL! We also like(I know, I know, how lame is this) the periogies. We’re old ladies and so we share everything and so have a little bit of everything. The bartenders are always very kind and don’t give us dirty looks(we tip well too). A couple good draft beers usually and a good pour on their drinks.

Being from the South and craving some good Cajun food, I stopped in to Crawdaddy’s on the suggestion of a friend. Looks something like a dive bar from the outside. Not much in the line of outdoor lighting, and in a single building on a big highway. Once you walk inside though the ambiance is good, with New Orleans-esque celing tiles and trim with a Mardi Gras theme. The food was quite good, lots of dishes not normally seen this far north. My dining partner and I started off with the frog leg appetizer and cajun popcorn appetizer, both of which I found to be acceptable, if a bit expensive. The frog legs are pan blackened, different from how I’m accustomed to seeing them, but an interesting flavor nonetheless. We wanted to get the half order of frog legs, which was on the menu, but the server/bartender said it was no longer available. Not entirely sure why that was… instead of 2 pairs of legs just give us 1 and call it the half order. The Cajun popcorn(fried crawfish tails) was good, with an interesting sauce and an egg batter. We both got the jambalaya entrées(I had alligator and crawfish). Came out piping hot, as it should, in a big bowl. Definitely a large size. It was lacking in a couple of ingredients and spices I normally associate with jambalaya, namely okra, but it was good, if overpriced at close to $ 20. Maybe I’m spoiled at the inexpensive and hugely flavorful versions you can get closer to the Gulf, though. They did have an interesting bottled beer menu, including Abita and Dixie beers, two items only just now making it this far north. Their taps include a couple of Victory selections and the other local standards(Yuengling, Budweiser, etc.). So, for the time being, it gets 3 stars based on the fact that the appetizers were interesting but nothing to write home about, and the jambalaya was acceptable, but not at the price. Servers were friendly though, and the facilities were clean and well maintained. This may change if I return and try some of the other entrées though.

Crawdaddy’s service was horrible. Though the food was pretty good(not great), the prices were high, and wait times for everything were abysmally long: time to first visit by server, time to order, time to get soup, time to get food. Bread was never brought to the table. No apology or explanation was given. I would never return to Crawdaddy’s. Restaurant owners: If you cannot serve customers, do not seat them!

Eat there at lunch break today — very slow service(waited for 25 minutes until waiter came to take order, and additional 25 minutes until it was served). Very expensive for the size of the dishes. When I wanted to complain, it seems that there is no manager there — the waiter is doing everything(which explains the slow service) Dishes taste were OK — found better places

Found Crawdaddy’s by accident on my way home from college. Stopped in on a whim and had some of the best Jambalya I’ve ever tasted!!! My French college friend(who was dining with me) was a bit turned off by our waitress’s inability to pronounce any of the items on the menu. It was hilarious listening to the two of them go back and forth about who had the correct pronunciation and WHY. SMH. I just ate my Jambalya and laughed. I like this place. Try it.

I’m Cajun, so I’ve made it my mission to sample all the area«Cajun» restaurants around while I’m in this area; Crawdaddy’s is my second stop. I began with a cup of the chicken gumbo; thick, rich roux, perhaps just a wee bit too thick for a gumbo but I’m guessing this is about as close to true Acadian gumbo as you may get near-by. Time will tell. Spicy and in no need for hot sauce, not even for this four-alarm heat loving coon ass. I had the shrimp étouffée’ as an entrée. Again, the roux(that’s «sauce» for you yankee folk) was very, very rich, thick but served it well. Lots of large gulf shrimp cleaned and deveined well from the taste of it. The bell peppers & onion were sliced instead of chopped but hey, that’s no big sin, just something a real foodie may notice. Just the right amount of seasoning and served over hot rice. My buddy had the truly authentic-looking and tasting beignets for desert and they came with an orgasmic ‘foster’ sauce. Not something you’ll find with beignets in New Orleans, but a perfect sweet accompaniment. The service was pretty rushed, TOO rushed. Not sure if we had a new waitress or what, but we’d barely received our appetizers before she was bringing out our entrees, and my friend was still eating his dinner when she took my plate and asked if we wanted desert. The owner definitely has a «type» for the waitstaff. NO men, and only very pretty, very buxom young girls who wear little black stringy wife-beater shirts. Sorry, but we couldn’t help but notice. Is there a problem with hiring MEN to serve customers? I’m sure there are some deserving guys in the area who’d appreciate a chance to wait tables the next time Crawdaddy’s has an opening. **Note to customers with children: I’m sure it’s adorable for your 4, 5 or 6 year old to make choo-choo sounds for an hour non-stop while at home, and perhaps the nice waitstaff at another establishment once said your kid was precious as he or she yelled, cooed, shrieked and galloped around the dining room. However, it’s really, REALLY annoying for the rest of us who’d really appreciate not having to suffer your poorly behaved child or have our own experience ruined because of it. Producing offspring does not give you special social status so please, be considerate of others.

After living out in Philadelphia for a year and craving Cajun, I finally found it out in West Chester. Great staff, excellent crawfish and alligator étouffée. Could stand to be a little more spicy, but overall, a great experience and great food!

We went there out of curiousity as we are fans of The Big Easy and wanted to compare restaurants. Well, The Big Easy has some competition. I loved their food. I was disappointed to find out they were out of hushpuppies, which are hard to find and I was really looking forward to trying. However, they did have some great spiced table bread that made up for it. We started out with the Cajun Popcorn(outstanding, better than The Big Easy’s version) and a Blackened Crab Cake(just OK, it had chunks of tomato in it and it definitely wasn’t lump crab meat). We moved on to the Bayou Shrimp and a Blackened Combo of Shrimp, Scallops and Chicken. I totally loved the Bayou Shrimp, it was served on a bed of rice(or fettucine if you prefer) with a creamy, slightly spicy sauce. The Blackened Combo was perfectly cooked, with the chicken being a favorite. I look forward to going back and working my way through their menu!

Come for the food! Great Voodoo crawfish and shrimp, outstanding blackened alligator. I had a blackened catfish Po’Boy at Crawdaddy’s that was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Good beers, and you might need some patience if it’s busy, but well worth the wait. Voodoo sauce was too much for my 11 year old, but he loved the alligator and the jambalaya.

Hmmmm. .. . judging from the other reviews here maybe they were just having an off day this past Saturday. It happens but our visit was not very good. We decided to try this place based on a recommendation from my husband’s co-worker. We got there about 3:45 and dinner was not served until 5pm so we sat at the bar and ordered drinks and an app. My Spicy Bloody Mary was good. The Cajun popcorn crawfish was nothing special. I think they may have actually microwaved it and sent it out on a little bit of creole mustard sauce. .. . no garnish. It was too chewy and not very flavorful. The bar looked more to me like a place that was trying too hard to be a Bayou bar and although it was a nice environment I was hoping it would have a more authentic feel. Also, the bar chairs were pretty uncomfortable. I wanted to hear Bayou music but instead the golf game was on all of the bar big screens. At 4:50 we were brought into the dining room. I offered to pay the bartender to make sure she got a good tip but she told us she would now be our server for dinner. The dining room looked nice — high ceilings and a cool alligator head over the mantel of the non working fireplace. We were the only people in there at first. .. the room and our chairs were cold. Our server asked what we would like to drink and then brought me a wine list. I just had a house Pinot Noir and my hubby The Monk had a Guinness. We decided to be hogs and order another appetizer — this time we did the Blackened Andouille Sausage with Chevre Goat Cheese. I was really surprised that it came out on an oval plate as very thin slices of sausage — and they squirted whipped goat cheese on top of the sausage like it was cheese whiz or worse yet, Silly String(if you are OLD enough to remember that!) So. .. the andouille was not so great. Next, we ordered our entrees. I asked for the blackened tuna over salad greens but I asked to substitute the honey mustard that came with it with their basil vinaigrette and wanted it on the side. Monk ordered a 20 oz Porterhouse. Ten minutes later the server came back and told my Monk they were out of the Porterhouse — um, this was Saturday and we were the FIRST people to arrive for dinner. .. okay, let it go. He ordered the mustard fried catfish instead(I didn’t want him eating so much meat anyway :)) Dinners arrive — my medium rare tuna came with the honey mustard on the salad — ok, sent it back no problem. It came back with the basil vinaigrette on the side — was okay– they used dried basil not fresh. The salad the tuna was served on was of less quality than most salads we get at diners. It was missing the veggies it was suppose to have…and had a ton of fuscilli pasta on it — yuck. The tuna was just okay– the ends were over cooked. Monk said his catfish was okay. So. .. about $ 100 later we left Crawdaddy’s not very satisfied and drove to the Titus Inn for a drink in a really comfortable and relaxing environment. Was cool too because we ran into a Chef I know who bought us our drinks. Then Villanova won and all was right with the world again. .. the end.

Very good cajun food. Big fan of their voodoo hot sauce. Try the crawfish as an appetizer and there is some sort of seafood tortellini that is delicious. The prices are a little on the expensive side, but the food is good and the portions are decent. The outside dining area is nice in the summer time. The parking area fills up fast; I usually end up on the grass or making my own spot in front of the dumpster.

This place is Off The Hook! Awesome Cajun. Could be a little spicier though… guess they have to cater to the wimpy factor… Great blackened gator, etoufee, blackened steaks… Jambalaya was just ok… kind of disappointing after everything else rocked. Give it a try immediately!

I’m a sucker for some good Cajun style cooking and Crawdaddy’s does not disappoint. While it does not compare to the real cajun food that one would find in New Orleans, it is some of the best in the area. The menu is diverse and contains items such as Alligator Jambalaya and Crawfish, both are delicious. My one criticism is that the atmosphere could be nicer and fit the prices on the menu more accurately.
