I have been going to Sullivan Dental for over 20 years and actually look forward to the visits! Truly! They are like family. We have a few laughs while I have my teeth taken care of with care! Before I came to Sullivan Dental, other places let me «drown» with that «sucker thing» in my mouth, but not here! I can actually breathe during my check ups! That is HUGE! Thanks, Sullivan!

Dr. Sullivan and his staff are always welcoming, patient, caring, and highly skilled. I have been a patient there for 27 years and have had a positive experience at each an every appointment. They go above and beyond to make sure you are as comfortable and as relaxed as possible while in their care. I have had everything from teeth cleanings to crowns done by Dr. Sullivan, and while the dental work itself isn’t always fun, he and his staff do their best to make it as pain free and stress free as possible!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Sullivan’s for over 20 years. He does a fabulous job. He has early morning hours on a regular basis — and this is important to me, as I’d like to minimize any time away from work. He also takes particular care to minimize invasive procedures, and only do as much as needed — and when he does to make it as effective and painless as possible. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

In three words: professional, comfortable, attentive.
As someone who is generally anxious about visiting the dentist (this is mostly due to a slew of fairly negative experiences with less-​than-​aboveboard dental practices, including undergoing an unnecessary procedure near my previous residence in VA), I admit I had some initial trepidation about exposing myself to a new practice. As it turns out, that apprehension could not have been more misplaced.
The receptionists greeted me warmly after I stepped into the waiting room for the first time, and were helpful in answering all of the insurance questions I had on my first visit (of which there were several). They went above and beyond to make me feel like they were there to help me, and followed up with action. For example: I made some offhanded comment as I walked back to my chair wondering whether a future procedure would put me over my insurance maximum, and without my actually asking one of the receptionists promptly got back to me with the information so I could plan accordingly. I expect helpfulness from staff at any practice, but I was pleasantly surprised by their anticipation of my future needs on top of the appointment at hand.
Throughout my first visit and the ones after, the hygienists were remarkably conscientious about my comfort level during cleaning, and seemed to take even visual cues of discomfort very seriously, even when they stem only from nervousness. Even to patients like me who have been through cleanings dozens upon dozens of times, they were no less diligent about telling me exactly what they were doing and giving me useful earnest feedback on my oral health (brushing technique, etc) without being didactic or having any hint of the condescension I had grown accustomed to from previous dentists. Though I haven’t yet taken advantage of the offer, they provide iPods on hand for patients to listen to while they’re in the chair.
Dr. Sullivan has shown the same consideration towards comfort during exams, and is all around friendly to talk to and answers thoroughly any questions you might have. I’ve never left the office with any nagging doubts or questions in my head, financial or dental.
They’ve maintained the same level of personalized attention and care through all my subsequent visits, even though the appointments are generally very quick and efficient.
Their professionalism and focus on patient care also extends beyond the office. I am guilty of forgetting or recording incorrect dates for appointments for other practices in the past, but Sullivan Dental is good about reminding me when I have an upcoming visit scheduled without being disruptive or leaving a million robo-​call messages. After I underwent a filling, Dr. Sullivan also called in person to check up on me post-​procedure. I know it’s in dentists’ best interest to do these things, but to me it demonstrates a one-​on-​one attentiveness reflective of what I’ve experienced during the appointments themselves.
After having been in for more than four visits, I can say with full confidence now that, out of the several dental practices at which I’ve been a patient, Sullivan Dental is hands-​down the most professionally attentive and comfortable one. Coming from someone who considers himself a dentistry cynic, that means a lot.
