Foothill Transit

I cannot and do NOT recommend Foot Hill Transit as a viable and reliable transportation source for people who do not have a car or access to other transportation! These people NEVER stick to their posted schedules and time and time again have made me sit at the bus stop at Golden Springs and Sabana Dr. for more than 30 minutes with no bus in sight. Like today, when I went to go to my job and was waiting on the bus. I got there at about 1:20. Six minutes later, I check my phone, 1:26 – no bus. I said to myself, «Okay, I know their posted time of arrival is 1:41 at Diamond Bar Blvd and Golden Springs so they should be here at 1:43 or 1:45. I’ll wait.» 1:45 passes; 1:50 passes. Finally, it’s 1:54 and I was like «I have to be at work in 6 minutes.» I finally had to get a ride with Über and they were to me in 3 minutes or less!
I have written at least one complaint email to these folks at least a year ago regarding this issue. Ever since then, I have logged all the times they’ve been late and plan to write another complaint email once I finish this review. Add to the fact that I have cerebral palsy and have trouble commuting for work as it is. Again, I cannot recommend anyone riding with Foothill transit because of the amount of times they’ve either been late or skipped busses when late. They have also left me when I was two seconds from them. Not good! That is not how a business is supposed to be run, especially one where you have the city relying on you! When you post a time schedule, please arrive within 5 – 10 minutes of the scheduled time – not 30!

The most unreliable public transit I’ve ever experienced. They look cleaner than Metro and more modern but none of that matters if you’re always 15+ minutes late. If you have a class or job to get to find an alternative to taking Foothill because you’re never going to be on time. Their operators are also never available and when they are they don’t seem to care that busses not being on their scheduled time can have real consequences on people who depend on them. The 486 seems to be the only line that isn’t habitually late but I will never ride the 185 or 488 ever again.

Yeah, The Foothill Buses are still late and haven’t improved the timelyness of there service. Recently, I wanted to catch the FT282 to Puente Hills and I was at El Monte Station to catch the one I wanted. It never showed up and I had to wait to catch two buses later. I even left home with plenty of time to make it. Only if I had a car or there’s another way to get around, but I’m stuck relying on these bozos. Thanks Foothill for making me late.

Once again, busses are still late. They have not improved the timelyness of the service. I refuse to pay when they won’t do their service right. If there was another way for me to get around I would take it, but I am stuck relying on these bozos.

Having ridden on both Foothill & Metro, I’ll take the Metro bus drivers ANY day. Not saying FT drivers are bad (they’re not), but stopping at bus stops when NO ONE is there is beyond frustrating. And the wasted time of pulling away from a bus stop also frustrates. Metro buses don’t waste much time once you’re on the bus. Anyway, I know there are scheduled stops, but if no one is there, move on!

I made an account just so I can write this review. I’ve taken Foothill transit from years now over 8 years. I think the silver streak is pretty on point on the schedule, but in order for me to take that bus, I have to take the 178. This 178 bus is the worst bus I’ve ever taken in my life. It is ALWAYS late. Never on time. If they arrive too early at the stop, they won’t stop there and leave at the scheduled time, they will just keep going leaving the people who goes by the schedule left out, having to wait for at least 40 minutes!
The 178 was suppose to come 30 minutes ago already and it NEVER came! When I checked the online tracking thing after waiting 40 minutes already, it says that the next one is gonna be coming in 33 minutes! What is this?! So out of patience, I called the Foothill transit to ask about the really accuracy of the bus location and even they couldn’t find the bus! They said that the bus must of have their GPS off and that they have no idea where it went and why it didn’t pass by my stop. I’ve waited over 1hr and 20 minutes for this ridiculous bus. I pay the monthly pass for the silver streak rate, the least Foothill Transit can do is give the right schedule or at least know where there busses are at!!! It is so unprofessional! It’s a terrible experience!
Plus, one of the bus drivers didn’t want to let in any more people in the bus just cause he closed the door, but the bus was still art the stop. He opened it eventually to yell at the passengers trying to get in and saying «Catch the next bus, this one is full!!» Which was a lie, everyone can see that the bus was half empty! He was so rude! One of the many I’ve encountered with.
The only reason why I gave this 2 stars is because some of drivers are actually really nice and friendly and because of the silver streak being reliable and on time at most cases.
Foothill need to do something about their busses not being able to track down. Your 178 is not reliable that even your customer service don’t know some of their locations!

Foothill Executives:
I have been a 498 commuter from West Covina for over 25 years. But how times have changed. There are more and more commuters and its becoming increasingly difficult most days to either connect as you wait in line of over 30 – 40 people to just get on a bus into DTLA as scheduled during peak hours between 7 – 8 am.
Not to mention we’ve been in line for over 10 – 15 minutes, just to wait another 10 minutes. Reasons are because of the buses not arriving at their scheduled time or the bus at West Covina WB into DTLA is to capacity. Passengers have no choice but to stand in on a bus just to get to work on time. I feel this is a liability and dangerous to not have a passenger seat. Shame on you Foothill !! it is apparent that more and more people are taking public transportation and we need more buses during peak morning and evening hours. Please add more 498 buses. I await a response.

The people in the building are really nice and helpful. Very knowledgeable with transfers and how to get around. Decent price and easy to get around the area Thank You Foothill Transit!

Timing fuckin sucks! never on time for shit. How the hell did the drivers get hired they were probably late to their interviews.

On yes good ol Foothill Transit of Southern California. I had great memories of riding in the buses back in high school. I was a key clubber back then and I took this bus to visit my friends. Not having a car I had to make do with the bus and apparently it was the best decision I ever made. The availability of most of the routes in this system is pretty high. If you ride in late hours, they provide service that stretched past 9pm when you want to go to a nice restaurant. If you are a shopaholic this is a good way for you to save on gasoline. This system is better than the service that you see in Santa Cruz, CA. I however like their bus fleet, they provide vehicles for every type of use
Drawback: took off points due to the fact that some of the buses have been late.

Very nice looking buses with comfy seats that recline. Also nice that you can get transfers. But what’s not nice is that routes that go on the freeway WILL STILL GO ON THE FREEWAY IF IT IS SHUT DOWN! Once the entire 10 freeway in LA was shut down, and I departed Union Station at 5:30 PM. I didn’t get home (Ontario) until 10:00 because the freeway was shut down, and you would think that the driver would go to El Monte taking streets. But we didn’t! Same with West Covina, Pomona, AND MONTCLAIR!!! Always be sure not to get on a freeway route if there is traffic or if the freeway is shut down. Also, a lot of the drivers are really rude! On one bus the stop request didn’t work so you would have to tell the driver when to get off. I told the driver to stop, but he went right past it! I kept telling him to stop at every stop between Diamond Bar and Pomona. Finally, the driver let us off at the end of the line, which was all the way in Brea!

Worst bus service ever. 3 lanes of the 60 fwy were shut down. Do u think that Foothill bothered to send a message to the bus driver to avoid the 60 fwy!!! NO!!! How can this company continue to provide a great disservice to its customers! Because of Foothill’s uncaring attitude to its riders, we are arriving 40 minutes late!!! Thanks Foothill!!!

Terrible!!! I have been in US for quite a long time and used buses as my transportation. However Foothill Transit dissapointed me so much. I have to say that they are late for most of the time. Sometime, the bus come late for 20 minutes. I am wondering whether their services are to let the customers wait for them. some bus drivers drive dangerously and I don’t know that they know the traffic law or not. Please, improve the quality of public transport so that the proportion of owning the car will decrease and let the place for public transport.

What is the problem with the 281 north the buses either don’t show up (12:17) hacienda blvd. or don’t show up period ??? WTF

I want to thank Rebecca in the call center for helping me find the right bus to West Covina. I was impatient with her at first but she still went out of her way to look up the proper address & bus for me.

Oscar and Lorena at the Puente Hills Mall transit store are champs. When my sister left her wallet on the bus 2÷27÷15 (on Friday night – the worst possible time), they went way beyond the call of duty and tracked it down at the bus yard in Pomona, where we were able to get it that night.
Thanks also to Eric (the supervisor on duty in Pomona) who brought it out to us.

U r getting worse, most of the time late… Worse no show!!! Drivers don’t care! Your customer service totally needs improvement!!! Don’t be boastful, everything has its end. And u r not the only public transpo in the world !!!

The only reason I’m giving Foothill Transit 1 star because I can’t give them 0. Tonight one bus drove right past me, so I caught another and then saw two other buses broken down on the side of the road. And this isn’t an isolated incident. I can’t understand why they can’t seem to keep their fleet running. Over the years I’ve been on 2 buses that have broken down on other services. I’ve lost count with Foothill Transit over the past few months.
So, the jist is this: Very nice, clean buses — that are frequently late or broken down.
Compared to other services Foothill Transit is like toddlers dressed up as adults.
It’s all and elaborate fantasy of being a proper transit system that people indulge them in.

Buses are often late and sometimes skip runs all together, leaving customers waiting for hours. Their drivers don’t always understand how paying fares and putting transfers on fare cards is supposed to work, and they often do it wrong, leaving the customer with no transfer when they get on their next bus. They do run a lot of routes and are useful for getting around the area, but leave lots of extra time to get to your destination.

This is a review on the customer service helpline as well as the directions; they were so lackluster it wasn’t even funny. When they received my call I listened to a 5 minute conversation about people going to a party only to be waiting on the line for nothing. Don’t trust googlemaps
If you’re heading from mt sac to brea mall take the 190 to the 482 to the 286 you’ll thank me later.
Foothill transit is looking pretty shoddy compared to mta and octa its a shame especially on the customer service end.
The bus drivers though are nice and courteous its a real shame.
