Description

Specialties

Foothill Transit provides community-oriented, environmentally friendly bus service throughout southern California’s San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys, including express bus routes to Pasadena and Downtown Los Angeles.

History

Established in 1988.

In response to service cuts and fare increases announced by the Southern California Rapid Transit District (RTD), 22 member cities in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys created Foothill Transit to assume control of bus operations in the area. Service began in December 1988 with operation of Lines 495 and 498. Since then, we’ve added lines and service, received numerous awards, built and acquired new facilities, and completely renovated our fleet of buses. We have the region’s first cross-valley, high occupancy bus service — the Silver Streak. We were also the first transit agency in the United States to bring a revolutionary fast-charge electric bus into service — and Line 291 is the first fast-charge electric bus line in the United States.
