Lighthouse Inn

This was a last minute plan on Labor Day weekend and it turned out to be a success. After calling about 20 sold out places on the water I was able to get availability at a very reasonable price. Yes it is a bit out dated and reminds me of a scene from dirty dancing or something but… The location is great on a private beach, with restaurant, activities, pool, etc etc. I am definitely returning next summer if I can get the same price.

I stayed at lighthouse inn as part of a wedding party. The wedding was not at LHI, but we stayed here for 3 nights.
The bridesmaids stayed in the Gatehouse which was very convenient. The house had a card reader and each room had it’s own card reader, so there was privacy but community: perfect for a bridal party. The gatehouse was clean. The men stayed across the road at the Lodge. The lodge was much less community-​based and more awkwardly set up.
The property is gorgeous, but it would have helped to have walkways between cottages (or anywhere) especially when so many people are walking in heels (there were 3 weddings here this weekend). There is hardly any working WiFi, don’t be fooled.
BEWARE of giving them a card to put on file— upon check-​in, she told me they would charge $ 10 for incidentals, but instead charged me the balance ($ 500), which caused me to overdraft. When I complained she told me she reversed it. She didn’t. Then upon check-​out they charged me again (Another overdraft). It’s been 4 days, still no sign of the money.

The worst place I’ve ever stayed. I knew almost immediately when we drove up that this was not going to be a good experience. There is no clear indication were to check in. We got to our room which was in a building that looked like it might collapse at any moment. We went inside and I sat on our «King sized» bed which was actually two smaller beds pushed together and felt like I was laying on soggy cardboard. They only supply two towels which are just slightly bigger hand towels. The WiFi was nonexistent even though we tried several of their networks. I much rather have slept on the floor if it was clean. DISGUSTING. Waste of money and we wouldn’t return.

GROSS. As a business owner I don’t like writing bad reviews about companies, but this place was filthy. As soon as we walked into the dining area we were greeted by a pungent smell of sewage. It smelled like a hundred people urinated and crapped on the carpet. We walked right out. I don’t understand how people aren’t concerned about the stench and sanitation here? Consider changing your name to The Outhouse Inn.

If you like stuff that sucks, then this is your restaurant. If you like spending $ 30 on fish that appears to have been sitting around for 48 hours before being brought to your table, then try the Sole. If you want staff that will happily trip over your baby carriage with a sleeping infant repeatedly after being asked repeatedly to be careful, then Lighthouse Inn is your place. If you feel comfortable sitting on a skanky carpet while the sweet sweet smell of low tide sweeps over you and your food, then stop, pick up the phone and make your reservation now.
I’m giving this review two stars instead of one because my chicken bruschetta was pretty good. The other 18 entrees ordered by my party however were not.

DO NOT GO HERE. This is by far the worst restaurant and inn on Cape Cod. The service is horrendous. Management is terrible. I’ve personally seen the owner yell at employees in front of customers. Get some class. I think the place needs to be torn down and built back up with NEW owners. They are terrible. The dining room feels like a basement and the rugs are absolutely filthy. I felt dirty eating in there. The waitress was nice but not efficient.
Overall I think this place would be better if the Stones weren’t running this place.

The best thing about the breakfast here was above and beyond the dining room — very open, beautiful view of the ocean. The space was very nice and interesting. The breakfast itself was average, maybe below average. Price should have justified a higher food quality, which wasn’t loads better than a typical breakfast bar at a cheaper hotel. Staff did go above and beyond to make us comfortable, brought us Bloody Marys though breakfast drinks weren’t on the menu.

This hotel is definitely not worth the money. First off, checking in: the girl at the desk checks us into the wrong room — causing our keys to not open the door. We go back and they reset the keys but it happened again before they figured out the problem.
The bed’s mattress was extremely old and/​or cheap. We had the worst night’s sleep and my back is aching me from the mattress. The bathroom had 2 tiny towels — it was a joke. There was not one towel in the whole house that was normal sized. Toiletries offered were minimal and cheap. The main house is shabby — everything is stuck in the 80s, when it probably looked good. The beach they have is private but tiny. Basically, I would never come here again on the basis of the mattress quality alone. Horrid.

This was a not so good experience, especially for a $ 100 per couple. Scenery was great, price and portions were fair (wine was $ 25 average a bottle so this was overly fair). The service was sub standard and needs some polish. The food is terrible, and possibly worse than the food during my three hour stay in a Mexican prison.
I would suggest a few things to help out this place. First, look into the kitchen staff. You are definitely throwing a lot of lobster away. I thought the portions of lobster were great, but I’m a pig and have been thrown out of an all you can eat Chinese buffet. What I am trying to say is you’re giving too harty of portions and way too much lobster. Most people will not eat it.
The management should also look into retraining or replacing the chefs here. Everyone of the members in my party had overcooked food. I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. It was was overdone, and tougher than a biker chic in Province Town.
The staff needs to smile, and they need to be more tentative. Salads were forgotten about, second round of drinks were never offered, and the place was dead so there’s no excuse. A little effort goes a long way in service, and it’s pretty clear the staff has given up or no one cares enough to train them.
The décor could use some dressing. It’s very bland, and just a few add one can really make this place extremely nice. People pay more for this, and that means more money in the pockets of the Owner and staff.
I wouldn’t come back here, unless there was new management, and the reviews drastically changed prior to my reservation.

Was there this past summer. Never again. Such a horrible experience and very underwhelming meal. Wife’s dinner was messed up the start then when she reorders they put crab in top if he’d gush Shen she had told them she had a shellfish allergy. My so called filet was not a good cut at all. Stay away.

Probably the worst restaurant on Cape Cod.
We were here in 2010, the place was deplorable then and we decided to give it another shot three years later (July 2013); big mistake.
The food was over-​cooked and burnt — nothing has changed in three years. Stick a fork in us, we’re done. This place needs new owners, management, cooks, and a complete overhaul.
They do however, have a good view of the ocean, but we didn’t come to eat the view.
Simply put: TERRIBLE. Don’t waste your money. There are many other places with great views or harbors and ocean that are worth spending your money in; just not this place.

5 stars for the view and service but 3 stars for the food. Location is absolutely amazing, we sat outside at the tables on the grass which is literally a hop skip and a jump away from the ocean. So when i say you’re eating by the water, you are in fact eating ON the water. Great sea breeze and can listen to the waves crashing against the rock wall. Got 2 margaritas and they were okay. Clam
Chowder was delicious, but the chicken Alfredo was just okay in my opinion. Wasn’t very creamy or thick, and any Alfredo I’ve had has been rich, thick, and creamy. Slightly disappointed there. My boyfriend had the chicken quesadilla which was also good but nothing to rave about. I’d recommend getting the chowder and the lobster roll looked really tempting. I probably should have opted for that instead of the Alfredo but oh well. The view made up for the okay meal indeed. Cape cod beauty at its finest.

Restaurant needs work, staff really seems inexperienced and the service is BEYOND slow. Caesar salad is the only thing on the menu ill eat its pretty good, view earned a star. I mean I know im sitting in a plastic chair at a restaurant but cmon. Food sucks, service is even worse, prefer the snack shack at west dennis beach

Attended a friends wedding, so we may have had a special menu. Lovely location along the coast and nice outdoor seating/​socializing area. Appetizers were good, but not great (bacon wrapped dates and fried wraps). For dinner the salads were tasty and the sole wrapped lobster was very rich and delicious. Several friends had the steak, which was a little overcooked and tough, definitely not up to par. If you have the choice go fish, seems to be their better type of dish.

I LOVE this place! You can’t beat the view. When you think of cape cod this is what comes to mind quiet, quaint and a wonderful place to take your family I went this past summer and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I will definitely be back! The cod quesadilla and almost all the food is amazing and the dining area is a great place to go in the afternoon for a drink especially the deck!!! The waitstaff is so nice and I just loved it here! It is such a lovely place to visit and there is a good chance you may even catch some of the family working throughout the summer that’s part of what makes it so special!

I had the broiled scallops with pub Fries and roulitulle the portion is a little small and quality is off a little bit. As far as ambiances yes it is old cape cod. I do agree an update is due looks like it did 15 years ago.
I am really surprised at menu selections a little limited and after reading other reviews what is good here?

Lighthouse Inn has been home to a retreat I attend annually for a non-​profit board I sit on. It has a quaint charm only found on Cape Cod. The facility and dining area are a bit dated, but it does lend a certain nostalgic feeling. The food is good, not great, but will leave you full and hopefully satisfied. The cottages are nice and have been updated recently, so that helps. Campy is the term that comes to mind. Mattresses are very firm, more like hard. Shower has crazy water pressure, and is fairly awkward to use. Overall, a traditional mid-​Cape experience!

I attended a Cape Cod Green Drinks reception. The sponsor was Brown to Green Solar. The snack buffet was staggering. I tried a cranberry fritter which was tasty. I did not have a drink as it was cash bar and sad to say, I had no cash. The setting is very rustic and basic. Sort of like The Catskills on Cape Cod? It’s typical old Cape Cod. I did check out the massive solar panels on the roof. I went to support Cape Cod Green Drinks

If you want to experience dinning the way it was 40 or 50 years ago on the Cape, try the Lighthouse Inn. This place reminds me of the Fairview in Brant Rock before it was destroyed by fire. The interior is the old wood paneling that was ubiquitous in restaurants on the Cape. The place looks like it has not changed since the 50’s. (I mean that as a compliment)
The lawn outside is a great place for a pre-​dinner drink; it is right on the ocean. The restaurant has killer views of the ocean from almost all the tables. Service is excellent, mainly college kids hustling to make a few quid during the summer. Food is a solid value in terms of both price and quality, not fancy but well prepared and well presented. Dress is very casual. If you have kids, they will do well here.

Sorry but the restaurant meal we had here was not up to the standards we expected. My brother-​in-​lawe and his wife dined here the summer before and RAVED about it.
We have 1 chicken and 1 pasta (lobster pasta) entrée. Prices were high and food was just OK.
However, the service and ambience are indeed 4 – 5 star. A great place to stay if you have kids — they have a private ship themed playground area.
Also they have a private beach.
