Hampton Inn of West Des Moines

Best Hampton I have stayed at. Newer building (?), Clean, fresh, good wifi. Good shower. Breakfast and afternoon reception were OK but could be improved, but AM coffee was fresh. Reasonably priced. Easy access off I80, both in and out. Pool looked clean and nice but didn’t use. Overall nothing bad.

Loved this one… this is one of the better Hampton Inn’s that I have stayed in… super clean… great exercise room… staff was helpful… A+

First as with most hotels if you want to sleep avoid weekends as sports teams occupy and the parents are a big a problem as the kids, call hotels ahead of time and ask if sports teams will be there
this is a top notch Sunday — Thurs hotel, staff is great, they have a free drink two hours with a good micro brew, rooms are very clean and well appointed, bathroom was very clean and beds comfortable, parking out front and plentiful, internet is fast and outlets in room plentiful, hot cookies in the evening, breakfast is very good and everything fresh and the eating area very clean, no smelly hallways or stained carpet, as a frequent traveler this hotel was a pleasure and comparably priced with other upper end hotels in the area, Hampton Inns continue to rise in quality

Very comfortable stay as I always expect when staying at a Hampton. Clean rooms, great location right off the highway, and friendly staff. A little far out if you’re going to be in downtown Des Moines mostly.

Location Location Location… really? Easy to get in, easy to get out, easy… easy…easy! These other reviews about getting here, they need to learn about directions… so onto the review…
The pricing point for the rooms is right on in my view, for the size and layout of the rooms and amenities. Standard breakfast included.
Knock knock, who’s there? Extra pillows you requested! Ahh… thanks, that was quick. I stated I could come down to pick them up and they advised they would be knocking at my door with them, saves me a trip downstairs.
Nice flat screen, good cable channels, king bed and pull out. The interior of the room is fresh! Nice rolling desk, I used it as a table for my food as I watched the game, excellent! Nice full length wall mirror, bedding was clean, large and comfy.
Pool=a very nice size, hot tub=perfect temperature, floor to ceiling window facing lobby? Yes and no big deal, floor to ceiling windows facing all sides??? Yes, great natural lighting, haha, I soaked it up and enjoyed the evening. Ok selection of snacks and drinks at the «snack shack» area.

Service: are we at Hyvee? Friendly smile in every isle… or at every counter! Staff members were great. kind, courteous, smiles all around.
There is an open field adjoined to the front parking lot with a walking bridge over the highway. Great spot to toss the pigskin, frisbee or hit the tee-​ball stand.
Overall, a fresh hotel that I would recommend if staying in the West Des Moines area!

We stayed one night — nice room– newer HI design with the business desk and bathroom. The fitness room was TINY — and the pool had a huge glass wall into the lobby — so I wouldn’t have gone swimming there ever. There is a huge lobby and small breakfast area. All the HI breakfasts are standardized now. I’ve had the same one at four different hotels in three states. I miss the donuts. While there, I forgot my pillow which the staff put aside for us to pick up on our way back through– Thank you! I need that pillow. The way from the hotel back to the interstate is a pain.

So Hampton Inn is fine if it is the only option in town. And this just about does it in Des Moines. Which is a-​ok if the HI is clean and newer like this one. Helpful staff, clean sheets, clean bathroom. And they shovel their entrance very quickly. Given that it snowed 20+ inches in the 3 days I was there, I can’t imagine that to be a small feat. This southern girl appreciated not having to slide my way back into the hotel.
I really can’t ask for much more when traveling for work. I will be back (for work). Hopefully in the summer.

To be fair I do like this location just not everything about it and how they sometimes try to cut costs of freebie, I know I shouldn’t complain.
The property is right off of I-​80 and is really easy to get to so that I a plus, except for the fact that if you are driving north to south you need to go up a ½ a mile past the interstate to loop around since there is no way of getting to the entrance going that direction.
The manager’s reception the night I was in was a failure compared to others I have attended. The beverages served were flat and skunky and they had a stale bowl of chex mix out for snacks, kinda low rent for a $ 129 a night.
The rooms have been slightly renovated but overall need to be painted and have the carpet replaced.
I will go back here if I have to but honestly there are better options than this for the money in West Des Moines
