Zumba with Kelly at Dance-a-Cross

My overall assessment is that Zumba with Kelly is awesome! I was fairly new to Zumba but the place I was going to cancelled class more often than they had it — most classes were just 3 or 4 people. I liked the music and the moves but it wasn’t worth the hassle. I was pointed in Kelly’s direction via a friend on Facebook and I am so thankful because it is wonderful. Kelly has only cancelled class a handful of times and most of those were due to horrible weather that shut down the entire city. On the rare occasion that she has another commitment, the owner of the studio where we have class facilitates and leads us so we still get an excellent workout. Kelly creates fun and challenging routines but nothing is impossible. One of the best things about Zumba is that the intensity can be modified to accommodate each individual. Kelly is very friendly and personable but she is not obnoxiously annoying like some Zumba folks can be. The class size varies but it is usually pretty packed and everyone is friendly, supportive and more interested in getting a good workout than whatever you are doing. It is usually only women but there have been guys in class before and they are totally welcome. I am one of the least coordinated and most rhythmically challenged people and I have no dance background so I do a lot of things opposite the way everyone else is and I struggle to learn the dances but most people catch on very quickly and look like pros after just a couple of classes. Despite my personal challenges to master what is going on, I get an excellent workout and Zumba really helped me with my 150+ pound weight loss inclyding the past year of maintaining my weight. Kelly’s class helps provide me with a fun and beneficial alternative to weights and other cardio options. She does host or help with special events throughout the year so we have opportunities to experience guest instructors, dress up in fun outfits and support various charities from time to time. The first class is free so if you are considering a new workout place — you have no excuse to not check out Zumba with Kelly!
One more detail: the dance studio where we have class is owned by a very nice couple who also own the Anytime Fitness across the street. After becoming addicted to Kelly’s Zumba, I decided to join their gym even though I already had another gym membership. Joining their gym allows me to attend Zumba class for free so it is really a win-​win.
