Idk what other people have experienced at this salon but I have no complaints. I found my stylist Sophie at a previous salon and was seeing her for a couple months. With her I went from a brunette to full on blonde. Long story short I left to go back to my friend who ended up f’in up my hair and wound up back to Sophie who fixed it and was like why did I ever stray away. I have had fantastic experiences with her and every time she makes my hair look better and better. I would deff recommend her and this salon to anyone who wants a quality hair cut, dye, whatever.

Got my hair fixed at another, better salon (see my reviews), and it just made it even more apparent that the stylist here literally had no clue what she was doing when she did my hair. So overpriced for what this place is. Never coming here again and have already told many people not to come here.

Made an impulsive decision to get my hair cut and was looking for a place open in a Sunday (I thought this would be a long shot). I also have trust issues with stylists after bad experiences in the past when I don’t go to my «normal» stylist. Although I had to wait 20 minutes past my appointment time I wasn’t disappointed. I was offered a selection of beverages to enjoy and I selected a mimosa (what salon offers a mimosa?!?) My stylist Mariann talked with me about what I wanted and showed me some damage I may want to cut off. After talking about everything I was able to keep my length, get rid of some damage and add some layers. I walked out with a cut better than I could’ve imagined.

Based off the reviews alone I decided to schedule an appointment with Sophie. Today was my first visit with her & certainly won’t be my last! I was looking to add bangs (something I haven’t done in over 10 years) & Sophie gave me honest opinions on the various styles. She did a great job with my hair, I love my swooping bangs! The salon is clean, modern & very welcoming. The chairs are so comfortable!

I think every girl can relate when I say that I’ve never walked out of a salon happy. Until I’ve been a client of Jaclyn’s at Fringe. I’ve been the happiest with my hair, ever. I’ll start my saying the salon is absolutely gorgeous. Sophisticated and exceptionally clean!
As for the staff, everyone is welcoming and accommodating to anything you need. But Jaclyn is my girl! I brag about her to everyone especially because like most blondes, I have high expectations and am very picky. With that said, she nails it every time! She is extremely sweet and wants you to walk out happy. I couldn’t say enough great things about her and the salon!
Also when you are on your way out, they have all the best products to keep your hair in the best condition possible.

Fringe Hair Works is fantastic. The staff are all friendly and stylish without the typical salon attitude! I followed Sophie here because she is amazingly talented! Sophie has been doing my gorgeous highlights and extensions for over 4 years and I couldn’t be happier! She truly cares about her clients and wants them elated while looking and feeling beautiful.

I just recently moved to the Connecticut area and my hair was definitely in desperate need of a good cut and color! I cannot be happier about finding Fringe and working with Sophie! She is phenomenal, down to earth, knowledgable and 100% an expert in all things hair related. She really look the time to match my hair and bring in various color samples and double checked that it’s really what I wanted twice (once for color, the second for cut). I felt like she was really listening to what I wanted — which is never easy! Sophie describes herself as «not a salesperson» and in fact she was so much more! She gave honest opinions on hair products and answered all my questions on the endless awry of hair products. Also, I accidentally dropped my hat and the receptionist called me immediately! Everything about Fringe was incredible — highly recommend!

Nice place, way bigger than I thought. I scheduled an appointment with Sophie who did a great job. I was unfortunately late to my appointment due to work but they were flexible and accommodated me when I arrived. They start you off by washing your hair and end the appointment the same way. Really nice place.

I have to share this outstanding superb customer service experience that I had with Fringe! I was traveling from Asia to West Hartford for work. I googled hair salons in the area and Fringe appealed to me. I sent an email to request on a Sunday morning for an appointment on Monday.
I was thrilled and surprised at how quickly Pamela responded. Pamela was insightful, helpful with guiding me to the correct place to secure an appointment… she’s first class in providing world class service.
Here’s what’s amazing (to me) about world class service… any one person from a company can be fantastic, but it truly takes a village to provide seamless service.
Fringe’s experience for me started with Pamela and then a personal follow up from Morgan was delightful.
Next, my hair appointment was with Jacklyn and just like Pamela and Morgan my experience was a delight.
I will continue to frequent Fringe when I’m traveling to West Hartford because I know that there will be wonderful people ensuring that I’m receiving the best possible service.
By the way, my appointment was for hair color and Jacklyn did a superb job of matching my existing color.

Awseome place, awseome atmosphere! Sophie, is the absolute best! She does extensions, and color and cut so good! I would recommend her to anyone, she’s down to earth, and easy going and very professional with hair!

I had such high hopes for this salon. It looks absolutely beautiful and had great reviews, so I figured it was worth a shot.
I went in for a dye and a cut. I saw a stylist named Carmen. She listened to my hair concerns and did a great job selecting the color for me. However, when it came to the cut she ignored my requests. I showed her multiple pictures, and she cut it at least two inches shorter than any of the photos. It was ok though, I thought. My hair had some damage and breakage, so it could have used a good clean cut
The problems started when I got home and really started to look at my hair. There was one big section that wasn’t touched by the dye near my roots, probably around the size of a half dollar. Also the cut was uneven and there were the really awkward long pieces that it looks like she forgot to cut. I called the salon to express my dissatisfaction. They asked me to come in to at least get the dye touched up, but because of my work schedule (6A-​7P for the next five days following that phone call) I wouldn’t be able to come in «in time to get anything comped.» I said that this was unfortunate, and I expected more from a $ 160 hair cut and dye. The receptionist said she would talk to someone and call me back with a resolution. She never called me back.
EDIT: Turns out my voicemail box was full (how embarrassing). They finally got a hold of me and offered me a store credit and gift card, and suggested that I book with a more experienced stylist for my next appointment. I’m very happy with this arrangement, and feel like my concerns have been addressed. I look forward to my next appointment, and updating this review based on my new experience!
EDIT: Ive been back several times to see Nina and am very happy now with my experience. Definitely satisfied with their customer service when all was said and done.

I wish it weren’t so difficult to find a decent hair salon in WeHa or the Greater Hartford region but unfortunately it is. I had high hopes for this place because of the reviews and price point. I don’t doubt that other people have had a better experience (it all depends on the hair stylist after all!) but my experience was mediocre at best. I went in for blonde balayage and showed my stylist a photo of what I wanted. I think the stylist tried really hard to match the color but it was obvious (and I say this after years of experience dying my hair) that she didn’t know what she was doing.
Needless to say I walked out with chunky ‘90s style highlights and terrible yellow/​orange tones in my hair — not anywhere near the photo I showed her. Luckily I was able to fix it with Wella toner and developer from Sally’s Beauty Supply but I shouldn’t have to do that after spending nearly $ 200 at this place. Inexcusable. Yes, this is a nice salon with some fancy features like reclining chairs but I’d rather go to a hole in the wall with better talent.

I was looking for a place that would that would provide a great hair care ever since I moved to Hartford a year ago. Saw this place online and scheduled an appointment. In must say, it has been an amazing experience. Gina, my stylist, was great. She understood exactly the look I was looking for each time I went in. I have been to places where they messed up my hair color, but just by looking at one of my pics, she got the exact color I was looking for.
Even my wife loves the place. Great customer service. And yes they do pamper you with complimentary wine, coffee or tea. Couldn’t ask for a better experience.

First time here. I’ve have long thick blonde hair and have had horrible experiences elsewhere in the area so I finally decided to pay up for a better experience. While Fringe was good, it is pricey. I saw Sophie, who was a perfectionist, and she was wonderful. She listened to what I wanted, which is something most other places hadn’t. When I mentioned I was thinking about getting my eyebrows done they quickly fit me in right after my hair was done. The salon itself is beautiful. When I got there they offered me a drink and I asked for water but after seeing other customers walking around with glasses of wine I’ll know better for next time. I’m just sad that I can never get my hair to look as good as it did leaving the salon that day.

I followed my hair stylist Carmen here to fringe and I absolutely love it! The environment is really welcoming and Carmen is such an amazing stylist. She does the best color, I leave with vibrant beautiful hair every time! I would definitely recommend her!

Followed my hair stylist here and I’m glad I did. Staff is awesome and attentive. Easy parking and great location. Carmen is awesome of course! She listens and gives you what you want not what she thinks you want. Love her!

My hairstylist Nina McFerrin now works at Fringe so of course I had to follow her there! Upon arriving I was greeted by Nina with a hug and a smile. Then the receptionist asked what she could bring me. I asked for white wine, which I was given along with some chocolates!
The service is great and the salon is stunning. It is in the heart of Blue Back Square with free parking in an old historic library that was remodeled exquisitely.
For a new mom that hasn’t left her baby for more than an hour in 9 months this was a real treat for me! Seeing Nina was like seeing an old friend that just happens to cut hair really good and is a color master!

After moving to West Hartford, I needed a new stylist with expertise in handling Asian hair and I found Sophie through Unilocal reviews. After my first haircut with her, I knew my search was over and I’ve been going to her ever since! I love that she takes the time to listen to your needs and makes sure that you leave the salon satisfied with your hair. She has relocated to Fringe Hair Works and the new location is absolutely gorgeous with a lot of natural light.
On my last visit, I went in and asked Sophie for a partial highlight/​glaze and had her pick the colors out for me since I trust her judgment based on the quality of her work! I love how the colors came out and I’ve gotten many compliments on my hair. Thanks Sophie :)

Same great haircut, beautiful new location.
Yesterday was my first visit to Fringe’s new location. It’s a gorgeous building with very convenient parking and rear parking lot entrance. It was the same great haircut that I’ve come to expect from Shane.
