Mandell JCC of Greater Hartford

If only I could afford to join this place I so would! The facilities are extensive, clean, and bright. We’ve gone here for swim meets at their indoor pool. It’s not an Olympic size pool but it’s nice. We’ve also been to their outdoor pool offsite which is bigger with a water slide! The people have always been friendly. They offer all kinds of classes and kid programs. Even for preschoolers. If it’s in your budget it would be worth it.

Very good from weights to swim to spin. A bit pricey though, imop, and the facility has a somewhat strange layout. But it’s good.

I have been going here since high school. Ever since I left for college and finally leaving for D. C, I am always going to be looking for an awesome place like this!

I can’t believe that I am the second person who has reviewed the Mandell JCC of Greater Hartford.
I’m not a member but came here this morning because it was bring a friend day. My colleague took me and I was blown away. It is the safest, cleanest, most innovative exercise facility I’ve ever been. If you go to NYSC at Blue Back, I would terminate your membership and switch over.
I took an early morning spinning class and a core class taught by Jeff. Both classes were challenging. The spinning class was held in a black room and the core was held at the pilates studios. What I really loved that there were many classes offered at all different times during the week.
The gym membership is pricier than a LA Fitness and Anytime Fitness, but it is worth the price because this place makes you want to work out and achieve your fitness goals. Perhaps in the future I could get the student rate…
And the dressing rooms are very clean. Even the gym employees and fellow gym members are so nice too! This is definitely a judgment free zone.

How on earth am I the first to be reviewing the JCC?!?
Ok, first of all, this is a massive complex. Included are the following:
— multiple indoor pools, these include a lap pool, spa and children’s learning pool with a moveable floor. How freaking cool is that? My kids are gonna take lessons here from now on, that’s for sure.
— multiple work out areas, I can’t even begin to explain the sheer number of pieces of equipment, the variety and classes that are offered. We’ve been members since January, so if I start taking classes I’ll report on them. Membership comes with a certain number of «free» minutes of staff guided exercise time, I have yet to explore that.
— a childcare drop off area, with baby sitting (you pay a very nominal fee, this is staffed by wonderful ladies from the attached ECC). I’ve used this, the staff are fantastic.
— café and meeting area
— «family room» which mimics your living room but with cooler toys, and a fish tank! and a small lending library! and private rooms for toddler classes!
— indoor playscape that is 2 stories! Once my kids go in, they aren’t coming out willingly.
— walking track at the 2^nd story of the gym, sorry I forget how many laps make a mile.
— amazing locker facilities. These include mens, womens and family. Infant boys are not permitted in the womens locker room, hence the family locker room. It’s awesome.
— really lovely community room with art work on display, and in the entrance there is handmade goods (jewellry the past several times) for sale
–unbelieably huge outdoor play ground. Once it is warmer, we are checking that thing out.
— full size basketball courts
— raquet ball courts
— pilates
— attached Early Childhood Center (preschool and kindergarten just like Shirley Reaback ECC)
— vast array of individual and group exercise classes
In the summer there are several summer camps associated with this and the satellite swim club.
We’ve only been members for 3 months, and already I love it. I’ve brought out of town friends to share the wealth, and it is completely worth the trek from Glastonbury.
Considering all that is offered here, the quality of the facility and the staff you could much worse on just the gym membership part alone.
