We provide quality residential energy efficiency and renewable energy. We’re locally owned by 440 families. We serve anyone in the community interested in making their home more efficient, safer and more comfortable. Membership is not required, but new members are always welcome!

History

Established in 2004.

Consumers came together to build a more just and sustainable energy future. They wanted to figure out how to end their dependence on fossil fuels and reduce their green house gas emissions. The first project they agreed to support was a recycled oil biodiesel plant. Next, they built out their solar installation, energy efficiency and home heating oil buying group programs. They are currently developing a community solar program where people can work together to install large solar projects.

Meet the Manager

Lynn B.

Manager

Lynn Benander is the President and CEO of Co-​op Power. She has 15 years experience in cooperative development, community facilitation, and education. Co-​op Power is organized as a decentralized network of self-​organizing communities that determine what green energy products and services and what good green jobs are needed in their region. Once a community council selects the project (s) they want to work on, Lynn and others on staff at Co-​op Power help recruit and train future employees, design the business plan, and work with the community council to launch the new product or the new business.
