Huge hospital. Huge parking lot. You can get lost there. This places has many buildings to separate departments yet still confusing. It’s the VA so some stuff suck in terms of being polite and courteous to veterans who are patients here. I got to talk to patient advocacy. The woman there was very nice and enthusiastic in helping me resolve an issue. Also the nurse for OIF/OEF veterans was very helpful when I found out that my apparent was suppose to be in Newington when the stupid staff told me it would be in West Haven. Last but not least another staff worker worked her hardest at helping me stay in New Haven for my allergy specialist appointment. She walked to each apartment with me to make sure I was being properly assisted. This hospital has everything, even a supermarket and retail store, selling DVDs and even wide screen 46″ inch screens. I give the VA and overall 3 stars because although their amenities and certainly great staff, they still have much kinks in their system that they need to work through.

Amazing people work here. Proximity and interaction with Yale is amazing. However, until they solve the parking problem(ha), this review will be low. Rumor has it that a parking structure will be built in 2015; however, this parking will be only for patients. The plan is to move employee parking off-site and then shuttle into work. For docs, this is a huge pain. Other VAs I’ve been to have doc parking near the building but I suppose I can only dream here.
