Pet Medical Center

On Thursday our 13 year old cat began acting ill, and without a regular vet I found myself here looking for a vet people seem to trust. After several hours I found this office. I called, and from the start I was treated with kindness and professionalism. I made an appointment for Saturday and was reminded several times that if his conditioned changed I could bring him in immediately.
Thursday night into Friday it was clear he was deteriorating rapidly, so we packed him up and took him in. Here is where my review goes from 4 to 5 stars.
When we arrived we were not sure what door to use, but the office staff saw us and more importantly our cat, and rushed out of the office to guide us in, we weren’t fully inside the office before we were asked how long he had been this way. We were immediately ushered to an exam room and care began before we even received forms to fill out.
The vet came in and began her diagnostics while I was filling out forms. Sadly the news was what no one wants to hear. We were given time to make our decision, she came in to answer questions, clarify things, and not once when she left to give us a moment, and there were several, did she go so far that she didn’t see us peek out of the door and come back immediately.
Decision made, both the vet and the staff there were kind beyond words. They made sure all the formalities were handled so that we could leave immediately once it was done. Then until the end, asked questions, prompted us to recall happy goofy times, and let us share. When it was over, we were given as much time as we needed. On the way out, office staff I am sorry to say I did not even see on the way in offered heartfelt condolences.
I’ve had animals all my life. There was a level of concern for both pet and human in this office I have never before experienced. The office and exam rooms were clean and the staff without exception were professional and truly concerned.
A sad day for my family, but I think after 15 years of looking, my furry family members finally have a vet that cares for them as much as I do.

This is an excellent neighborhood clinic.
Dr. Buffum and his staff are really great. They are all very kind and love pets.
Knowledgeable and helpful about your pet issues.
Pricing is very responsible and they don’t run unnecessary tests.
The office is clean and open till 9 pm on Wednesday nights.
I recommend them to all my friends with pets.

Been to 2 other West Hills vets-​they were so over priced ! Luv this place So nice people and so fast to get in ! Will never go to any other vet again

Dr. Kishimoto has been our vet for years. She treats our pets so well, it’s as if they were her own. She follows up every time, and she’s so great at what she does. Even though we live quite a distance now, we still take our pets to her. Our pets love Dr. K!

We’ve been coming with our dog for a few years now, ever since we adopted her. Mostly for basic checkups, and once for a minor ear issue. They’re always friendly, organized, attentive, and great with our dog.
They went above and beyond when we brought our dog in for follow up care, after she was bitten by a neighbor’ dog. No charge for ANY of the 3 follow up appts! We couldn’t believe it, and we’re so grateful.
We’ve been to some less-​than-​stellar vets, and are so happy to have found this place!

The people that work here are very kind and caring. I love the people at the front desk and the docs. They don’t try to push thousands of dollars worth of tests and when tests are necessary, the price is better than most places. I have a little dog that was not feeling well, felt great by the time we got home but a few days later felt bad again. This place let me bring him in for another look without making us pay for another office visit. They are very level headed about treatment options and don’t attempt to scare you into paying for a lot of unnecessary drugs or tests. (In the end it turned out our doggy is fine, but has allergies and likes to eat things he shouldn’t.) This is the first vet office I have trusted since a wonderful vet retired whom we used to see 11 years ago. I’m glad we found this place.

Dr. Kishimoto is great with our cats. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful.

The only place I truly recommend and believe me I’m picky when it comes to my dog care. Both Drs are great and have taken wonderful care of all my dogs. What I love best is their knowledge and the fact they won’t recommend unnecessary procedures just to drive up costs.
I had one boxer already go through cancer. Truthfully I’m not sure I could/​would trust anyone else. I have no intention of using other places, and it doesn’t hurt that my dogs love love love Dr. K.

Dr. Kishimoto rocks, she’s the most caring veterinarian doctor that we have had with our dogs. highly recommend but be patient.

I ended up here after a bad experience with another vet. I really like Dr kashimoto. Very caring and professional. My old vet contacted me and we tried going back but finally decided to stay here. We are very pleased with our choice.

I called this place trying to make a first time appointment for my dog. After keeping me on hold for over 20 minutes, I was told there was no one available to make the appointment. Nice! I think I will go back to my old vet, even if location a little inconvenient.

I originally put a good review about this place but I went there to do blood and urine test on my dog and when I called back to let them know I was worried my dog was really bruised up due to the urine and blood test (I mean bruised to the point i was worried). I would understand if my dog had little bruise like they said there might be, but her whole stomach and neck is red and black. Instead of them being nice and saying, «well bring her in and we’ll take a quick look to know if she’s ok», they said «you can bring her, but we’re going to charge you $ 56 to see». It’s there fault all and all I wanted was them to glance and see if it was something I should worry about. I will be going to my old vet from now on because these people are only nice when collecting money, so disappointed!

This is an excellent clinic Dr. Buffam and his staff are some of the nicest people. I came in last night after walking my little docker Sasha. She must had step in on something that made her paw irritated and inflamed and could not put her weight on it. It was 8:30pm when this happened and as soon as I noticed it i went in Unilocal to see what veterinarian (if any) was open and found out this clinic was open until 9PM. I rushed to the clinic and was able to arrive 15 mins before they close. They agreed to see my pet and mind you I had never been here before so I was a new patient (other places would have turn me away). In the examination table, Dr Buffan and his staff were super nice and gentle with my precious furchild and their price was decent (way better than going to an emergency clinic). I definitely recommend them!

Hands down, Dr. Buffum is the BEST vet out there. We’ve had nothing but positive experiences here (and I’ve been here a lot!) over the years. Staff is great, I always call last minute and they’re able to fit us in, and pricing is fair. I’d highly recommend them to anyone!

I moved to California from out of state, so I had no idea about the vets in the area. They were very sweet to my Basenji mix Gypsy. The technician was so skilled, she didn’t even realize that she was getting shots! They were very nice and efficient. It was easy to make the appointment and didn’t have to wait very long before she went in to see the vet.
The location is a little tucked away in the shopping center, but if you love your pet like a child, this is the place to go.

We always took our pets to Pet Medical Center, as it was literally a block from our house. Even though I have moved a little farther away, I still prefer Pet Medical Center for my cat. Not only are they great vets, but the staff is so caring and friendly. The prices aren’t bad either.

So, this morning, I woke up to find my poor little Frenchy bleeding from her anus. Of course, the first thing I did was go to the internet to research her symptoms. Most sites said, «Run to the vet NOW or she will die die DIE!» Not a great thing when you still have 2 kids to get ready for school and have try to keep it all together without crying. I called my usual vet but they said they were completely booked up with teeth cleaning even though it was obvious my dog was having some serious problems by having blood seep out of her ass. *OMG! If I were a vet, I’d totally take emergency calls over TEETH CLEANING!!! Have a heart, people!!!*
So, being in a bind, I did what I usually do and went on Unilocal.And thanks to all you Unilocal buddies, I managed to find Pet Medical Center. The gal who answered the phone was so nice and understanding & had us come right in even though they were fully booked. That’s dedication right there, folks.
We raced over there Mario Andretti style and luckily didn’t get a ticket. We got to the office and well, you could tell it would’ve been nice but they were right in the middle of a remodeling and had no flooring. This somehow made my Frankie dog wanna pee all over it which was a nightmare. The vet tech took us right into the examination rooms and got us a doctor immediately even before I had to sign any paperwork. So AWESOME. Let me just say that Dr. Rabwin is probably one of the nicest veterinarians you’ll ever meet. She has such great energy and was very informative & caring. Needless to say, Frankie didn’t die as the internet said she would. She had an anal abscess and just needed some expelling and meds. After getting the good news, I was ready to fork over my firstborn for payment but surprisingly enough the bill was really affordable and once again my daughter was saved from being used as payment for services.
This is definitely be our new vet from here on out. Couldn’t recommend them enough.

This is a great veterinary clinic! I took my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel here (who had a severe heart problem and needed to be checked regularly). Our neighbors, who are big dog enthusiasts, enthusiastically recommended Dr. Buffam when we first got her as a puppy. He spayed her when she was about 6 months old and she healed up nicely, with no complications.
As wonderful as our girl was, she had a lot of health problems due to her breed. She occasionally got eye infections in her adorable brown bug eyes and was diagnosed with a heart murmur at only a year old (most Cavaliers get them a few years later than that) which eventually became MVD. But Dr. Buffam was always thorough in his examinations of her and always knew exactly how to treat her. He gave us eye drops that cleared her eyes immediately and told us to keep an eye on her occasional coughing (a common side effect of the heart condition).
When she was about seven, her coughing grew a lot worse, so we took her in. Her heart condition had worsened, and she would need to take a variety of pills every morning and night for the rest of her life. Dr. Buffam referred us to a dog cardiologist (no idea those actually existed!) and he grimly informed us she had around six months left to live and didn’t adjust the medication Dr. Buffam gave her — just told us to keep giving them to her and hope for the best. Dr. Buffam was more optimistic, and each visit he was happy to tell us her condition was stable. She wound up living two more years before her heart gave out a few months ago, and I highly credit Dr. Buffam for giving us that extra time with our baby before she passed on.
My aunt had a similar ordeal. She took her beloved Shih Tzu to a clinic in Calabasas. He began having a variety of eye problems, and they recommended removing the eye. But she came to Dr. Buffam and he managed to save the eye. Other than old-​age cataracts, he is perfectly fine at the present time, thanks to Dr. Buffam. He is a great veterinarian and I would recommend him to anyone! He’s an older guy, so he may not be around the clinic much longer, but we once took our dog in to his apprentice and she was just as knowledgeable and thorough. When and if we get another dog, we’ll definitely be taking our new puppy to her.
The ambiance is not the best — it’s simple — but I don’t take my pets to places based on how fancy they are. And their pricing is fair. You’re paying for wonderful doctors who genuinely love animals. The only cons I can think of is that the front desk staff can be inconsistent and the hours are pretty short. Other than that, if you’re looking for experienced and reliable vets, look no further.
