I stayed at the Hollywood by the Sea B&B with my mum for the last 4 nights of a recent vacation. I was a little disappointed in a couple of areas: one being we thought the B&B was actually by the sea with some of the rooms having sea views(inc one we had booked for mum). Ok, so the beach and boardwalk is about 20 metres away but the room with a sea view had another building in between and a partial view of a little bit of beach. I was also given a room which led directly onto the pool but as this was decorated in purple and black, was quite dark. In fact the bathroom was so dark I had to go in with all lights blazing as this was decorated completely in black — tiles and all! Décor is ‘electic’ to say the least. Mums room was a complete contrast and had a lovely four poster bed decorated in yellow with loads of windows. Very sunny and nice. The pool was lovely. There were hardly any other guests and the owner really asks you to treat it as if it were home. The kitchen is open to use and the fridge stocked with cokes, waters and beers to help yourself at no extra charge. The owner also makes breakfasts to order in the morning and all the guests sit around the main large kitchen table while he cooks. The omelettes and pancakes he made were amazing. Really really good. We didn’t pay the published rates on the website and one of the rooms(my mums) was ‘upgraded’ without charge. The owner can also give you a parking permit so you can park at the metres outside the B&B. We really did enjoy our stay apart from a couple of little niggly irritations.
