King Valet Parking

My experience with this business boils down to two words: Attempted Extortion.
I parked my car at 1:30 AM on a Saturday night. I was picking up some friends who were partying in West Hollywood and I didn’t feel like circling to find parking. I was running a bit early, so I pulled into the Valet and went to grab a slice of pizza while I waited.
After I found everyone I returned to the lot at 2:20 AM to find the gate locked, my car gone, and nobody in sight. Although the attendant had no trouble charging me their full $ 12 rate, he didn’t bother to tell me that he would be closing soon. There was also no sign stating their hours or any instructions for where to go or what number to call in the event the lot is unsupervised.
My first thought was to call but the phone number on the claim ticket (800) 978‑2538, but the number is disconnected. I searched Unilocal and found another number (310) 659‑1085 which was also not also not in service. Finally, I hopped the fence to see if I could find any clues. Inside the lot was the valet podium and i sign with a phone number written at the bottom (213) 382‑2703.
This number didn’t seem to be disconnected but it rang until it went to voicemail. I tried about 5 times to get a hold of someone before finally cashing in my chips and ordering a taxi from West Hollywood to Encino. This cost me almost $ 20
When I woke up in the morning I called the 213 number and someone named Otto picked up the phone and gave me the cell phone number of another guy named John. John told me my car was back in the same lot.
I called another taxi back to West Hollywood to sort it out. This is where things begin to get a little more intense, if you could believe that.
I arrive back at the parking lot. The man at the valet station pointed me across the street to a bigger parking lot and told me to go speak to them for «more information» on my car.
I walk up to the attendant across the street showed him my ticket and asked if he has my car. He takes my ticket and writes $ 34 on the back with a pen. He explains that that is the overnight charge and the charge for the next day. I explained what happened the night before, and that I’m not paying one more cent to get my car back. So he hands me back the ticket and says «Then this is yours, until you have some money» and with that he walks away.
I was pretty livid at this point but I know that causing a scene will not solve anything, so I walked away for a few minutes to take a breather.
I approached him again and said. «Is there anyone from your company you would like to call before I call the police.» His response was that he «doesn’t appreciate being intimidated.» I said to him. «Listen man, I’m not here to intimidate you, but I am calling the police if we can’t sort this out, so I’m offering you the opportunity to reach out to your management.»
He did call management, and (in spanish) they told him to release the car to me.
In the interest of completion it’s worth mentioning that this could have turned out a lot worse. (police, litigation, etc.) But it certainly could have turned out a lot better, for me. Adding up the parking fee, tip and taxi rides, I’m out $ 54 for this debacle.
This all could have been avoided if the attendant who took my car simply said. «Hey, just so you know, I’m closing in 30 minutes.»

Do NOT PARK HERE ! I was only parked for an hour this pass Saturday weekend around 9:30 pm with fransico and I parked my car myself. The lot was empty. Once I came back I saw a huge scratch on my right side front bumper and the car was moved at a different location. I had to go to work right after due that I work graveyard in BH at a hotel. I told him I never had that on the car and he tried to say I had it on (I just got the car 2 days ago) he refuse to give me a name of the owner and I asked if they had cameras. He kept refusing me. I asked for the number and his boss name and he gave me an invalid number. I had to leave and I asked my work valet about the scratch and the confirmed it was fresh and showed me.
I just wanted to confirm over cameras, if it didn’t happen then I would have moved on, and he gave me a fake name of his boss (Cumilio) This company is a stiff DO NOT PARK HERE. Your car is safer on the street.

To better protect the vehicles entrusted to us, all are moved to an enclosed parking structure for their overnight stay. They are then returned to their original lots — unless of course our contract with the lot’s owner does not permit use during daytime hours, at which point they are parked close by.
In terms of pricing, parking after 6pm on weekdays (and all day on weekends) is charged a flat rate of $ 10. Leaving the vehicle overnight is an additional $ 25. If you pick the car up first thing in the morning (9−10am), your total would by $ 35. However, if the vehicle is in our possession longer than that, an additional full-​day flat rate of $ 10 is charged, hence your total of $ 45. Based on your review, we will update our displayed pricing policy to clarify this.
