Red Rock Bar & Eatery

Closed. Sad. Some of my fondest memories of working at Live Nation were behind a beer glass at a table with my co-​workers at Red Rock. We were there for happy hour 3 times a week for 6 months before we learned there was a dance floor on the second floor! Mind was blown.
You will be missed Red Rock. Everyone I know who knows Red Rock has similar fond memories. Whatever you become, it better be worth closing down an iconic establishment.

Not sure if this new establishment that is or has sprung up is owned by the same as Red Rock, but I hope they take a long hard look at what the only, routinely negative aspect was of the previous joint.
WAITING…and waiting, waiting some more.
Fix that and you might be doing pretty darn good.

Interesting place.
Came on a Friday night… parked right across, jaywalked to the bar…
Walked inside, used the tiny little bathroom… SOOOO Small wow…
Came downstairs got a little table and took us about 10 min to get someones attention to get us a drink and menu for food! well the kitchen was closed… UMMM That’s not good! I’m hungry! Oh well, got couple of drinks.
Waitress was super weird… we had repeat everything we said and she would give us attitude before walking away! pssh whatever!
Paid, jaywalked right back to the car, took a picture with the humongous guitar outside and left! =]

Sad that Red Rock is closing; it’s an end of an era…

Not a fan during the weekends. It gets loud and obnoxious. The music, the people… all loud and obnoxious. True to the form of the Sunset strip, Lord and Lady Douchebag preside over this little establishment on Thursday-​Saturday nights. If you enjoy vapid people who love reveling in their own drama and who can’t put two words together without blowing up one’s hopes and dreams for a more intelligent populace, you will love it here!
Having said that, I give it 3 stars for the staff and the fact that it is a good place to go during a weeknight or other non-​crowded time. Drinks can be a bit pricey for a specialty cocktail, but they have some really interesting cocktail ideas.

My friend and I were walking down Sunset Blvd. and decided to stop in for Happy Hour. The place was packed with people watching the Dallas football game. We walked in and were told to find our own seat. That’s cool! The server walked with us as we found our seats and handed us the menu’s. We both ordered Margarita’s. The Margarita’s were terrible. I can’t stress how bad the drink was. I’m not sure if you are suppose to add salt to the actual drink but I took a big drink and swallowed what seemed like a cup of salt. OMG… I almost threw up. Now, I know they have salt on the rim of the glass but in the actual drink itself?
The service wasn’t too bad but not the greatest. It was really loud because of the TV’s and the chatter from other tables. This is expected when you go to any bar and gave that ‘sports grill’ type of feeling. We actually had a great seat to look out onto Sunset Blvd. and watch the sun go down and the beautiful of the lights of the city emerge.
I would give this place another try the next time I am in Los Angeles but it’s not on my ‘Need to Go Back” list. I’m sure there are plenty other bars that are way better tahn this place but it wasn’t all that bad. The only really complaint is they had the bathroom upstairs. What if you are wasted and trying to climb up those stairs… yeah that can be dangerous.
FOOD: I didn’t order food so I can’t comment or review this place on that aspect.
DRINKS: I wasn’t impressed with their drinks. Stay away from the Margaritas!

They have the best little patio area ever that juts out over Sunset Blvd — such a nice place to sit and relax with a pint. I came on a Sunday night, they were playing Violent Femmes songs, I got a table on the patio, it was exactly 75 degrees outside, etc. etc. and best of all — there’s a Unilocal deal here if you check in! $ 5 for $ 10! Considering that a pint of Guinness costs $ 5, that’s a pretty darn good deal.
One star off for very very slow service — waitress was a doll though, but it took a really long time to get anything done. Probably not her fault though, she seemed to be the only one covering a large area.

I’ll keep it short and sweet.
If you’re an East-​Coaster who misses bars that didn’t look like they were assembled at Ikea, this is the place. Saturday night is the best time to go as it’s bumpin’ with some cool tunes that run the gamut of rock to indie to some nice oldies slipped in. It’s also good for Football, came here for a postseason game and it was great!
Everything’s reasonably priced, especially their happy hour. Their cocktail selection is great, and if you’re sick of that they have nice beer, too. Food is decent, but not the highlight.
Red Rock happens to be at a weird intersection of WeHo, The Sunset Strip, and Beverly Hills so there is a ridiculous variety of people here. I’ve seen guidos in Ed Hardy studded jeans sitting next to dudes in camo vests and hunting caps.
Restrooms will get dirtier as the night goes on, but we’re talkin’ like 1AM here.
The back window is excellent to watch drunk people stumble out of the parking lot, which is where all 5 of my stars go to.
JK, the place is awesome, but the window could be a bar on its own called «Hey, He Fell Down Again!»

I’ve got to be honest, I love this place. Sure, it’s a little weathered and the tables have that permanent sticky feel — but I love coming here. My favorite drink is the Tiger’s Blood. Who cares if the name is a little last year, this drink is still «winning!» in my book! Only $ 4 a pop and pretty strong, I’m not even sure what’s in here. They used to be served in bigger glasses which was awesome when I worked close by and needed an occasional lunch time adult beverage to deal with my job. The Tiger’s Blood is always $ 4, so you don’t need to worry about grabbing Happy Hour.
But speaking of Happy Hour, they have a pretty good one. The appetizers are only $ 6, I think, and drinks are half off. So sometimes, when the Tiger’s Bloods are getting a little sweet I’ll switch it up for a vodka soda, which even with the nicer vodkas is only $ 4 — $ 5 bucks. For appetizers I like the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla, the Chicken Satay, and the Ahi something or another (pile of Ahi with some wonton crisps!)
The waitresses are super nice and service is usually pretty good. During Happy Hour this place isn’t too packed up, which is also nice. I like to park across the street, just East of the Coffee Bean. It’s a lot where you prepay but it’s only $ 1 an hour or $ 5 — $ 7 for the entire night depending on which day it is.
So come to Red Rocks, and you too can be WINNING!!!

What better way to spend your Saturday evening/​early Sunday morning than to hit up a bar in Hollywood. Probably would have been on the scene a lot earlier but the boo had to work late (on a Saturday I know total bummer).
This review is based on the fact that my boyfriend’s friend threw his birthday party here, so I don’t really know the gist of the bar. With that in mind, this bar was pretty nice. We were upstairs in the private party lounge that was decent in size. Couches, mini tables, stools, full bar ;], enough space for people to dance about and an outdoor area. Windows that looked out onto the street and there was even space for a DJ (not sure if he was included ha ha). Had a blast!!! Beer was $ 6 from the tap and $ 8 for a Crown and Sprite. I’m pretty sure that’s the regular bar prices, some places give special deals to guests of the particular person’s party.
I’ll have to come back for the regular bar scene and check it out but I will say that it’s a nice place for a party like what we went to on Saturday. I would have a party here or host one here for a friend.
Like always Hollywood and parking do not mix well like a bad drink. If you’re lucky snag that meter parking. They do valet, just don’t know how much.

Chef Cody ruined Red Rock!
One of the regular places I go. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good, but they had these awesome potato skins (sometimes called Irish Nachos), thin, crunchy slices with tons of melted cheese and bacon and chives and a big thing of sour cream to dip in. Yum!
I go last week and they’ve changed them to «loaded» potato WEDGES! Wha?! You can’t load a potato wedge, all the stuff will fall off. That’s like putting the ice cream scoop on the bottom of the cone! So now you get this big old chunk of potato with a bit of topping that clung on while being cooked, boiled or fried, or whatever Chef Cody does in his laboratory. And then he went further and messed with the sour cream, adding… more sour somehow? Or was it just bad sour cream.
Please give Chef Cody a stern warning and bring back the original skins!

Fun bar. Nice bartenders. Delicious drinks. Awesome.
Great (normal) alternative to the heavy metal venues, swanky hotels, and tourist traps on the Sunset Strip.

I had a private party here — in the upstairs gig room. it was a «big» birthday… my 40^th… and my friends talked me into having a party. we visited many places searching for the right one. I wanted my party to be fun, not stuffy — and I honestly was about ready to give up until we ran over to red rock.
the management (viviane) was super helpful, friendly and accommodating — everything went off perfectly. we had our own bartender (dave) who was a lot of fun and super cool with my guests, we brought in 150 cupcakes Hansens and set up a girly cupcake tower, decorations, balloons, bowls of M&M’s for the tables, played music from my iPod — honestly, there was not one thing that I would say could have been better! Everyone had a blast, danced, drank, talked — it was fantastic! we ordered some food for the party and they set up chafing dishes on a table off to the side. (bring your own table cloth)
red rock surprised me — it was painless to plan, no drama, no insane fees and everyone had a freakin great time. all of my friends commented on how awesome the party was — how great the service was. we’re loyalists now. thanks for a great 40^th, red rock! xoxoxo

I can’t comment on the food because I didn’t eat any. I was here for a gig in the room upstairs. I’ve driven past this place hundreds of times and I had no idea they had live music. It is an AWESOME room to watch or play a show. You feel like you are in someone’s huge attic. The sound is really good and the performers don’t have monitors. It just blares out of the PA behind the stage and the band and the audience hear the same thing, which is actually the best thing for rock and roll.
You can valet your car for $ 7, which is really good considering it is a block away from the Viper Room. The bartenders don’t have a snotty attitude. Drinks are very strong and pretty cheap too. There is only one reason why it doesn’t get five stars: No Guinness.

I spent about 3 hours here while waiting for my husband’s band to start at another venue. I had a fabulous time! I ordered during happy hour so I got amazing deals on the half off drinks and cheap food. I especially loved the succulent tender Calamari. My bartender was sooo good! Everything I ordered was perfect. He made the perfect Pomegranate Martini that wasn’t too sweet… the kind you can drink tons of and not have that sicky headache that next day from all the sugar drinks. :)
After such an awesome time with friends and lots of drink orders, our Bartender — Mark continues his hospitality with smiles and great service. After chatting him up a bit we let him know we were heading to another venue and he met us there just to buy us a round of drinks. Wow! Who does that? We were floored at the kindness and hospitality he was showing us. Red Rock Bar is seriously my place to go on Sunset now. You just can’t be that!

This place has become my bestie’s and my default bar… if we are somewhere else & it sucks we head over to Red Rock. Been coming here for years and have so many great memories.
I like this place cuz it has a dance floor upstairs… hang out downstairs or go upstairs and dance. It’s the prefect combo!

Red Rock Bar is a chill double decker joint that attracts a very random crowd. I came on Friday the 13^th and there was a Halloween party going on upstairs. The place was decorated with cob webs, skeletons, and tomb stones. People actually came in costumes, so it was super rad… except i didnt get the memo.
Regardless, Red Rock isn’t a place i would want to go for a wild night out, but it is still a good time. The crowd isnt very attractive, and after everyone has a couple drinks they get even more unattractive lol.
LOTS of interesting people = GREAT people watching!

I went into Red Rock last week for my kickball league’s end of the season party and I couldn’t have been happier with their choice of venue.
Funny thing for me was that after a few moments I realized that I’d actually been in a few years back — a few friends and I swung through Red Rock on our way to a show at the Viper Room. We were crunched on time so we grabbed a quick beer at their downstairs bar and vowed we would return so we could actually enjoy our experience.
It’s bustling with activity and there’s a constant ebb and flow of concert hoppers meandering their way through Hollywood; perf for people watching!
There are two floors which gives you ample room to move around and get your groove on. The Friday night DJ upstairs was on point — spinning electro, house and top 40 for our dancing needs but I’m pretty sure that during the week they span all genres of music. My only qualm is that I haven’t had a chance to get in on their happy hour (5 – 7) — but there’s always next time!

I’ve wanted to eat at Red Rock for at least two years now, and after finally trying it, I wish I would have come a lot earlier. The inside was pretty empty, and the weather outside was perfect so we decided to dine on the outdoor patio. This is probably one of, if not the best location on the Strip for people watching.
We ordered the chili cheese fries to split and then I ordered the Red Rock burger (two beef patties, cheese, onion, lettuce, and tomato) and my friend ordered the four cheese pizza. Wow. Just wow. the plate of fries was simply gigantic and my burger… are they serious? It was a mountain. everything was amazing, very tastey, and huge portions. This place is a bar though, therefore they serve bar food. Gross, yet amazing bar food. After my last bite I could feel my arteries clogging. Oh well. A brisk walk down the entire strip and back is a good way to burn off the meal.
