I just got my first tattoo ever at this shop yesterday. I’ve been researching forever to find an artist that specializes in fine-​line single-​needle tattoos and East is definitely the man. He was so awesome and understanding (first tattoo fears, duh) and answered any questions I had. He was so awesome… I ended up getting TWO tattoos! And I love them!
All the other artists are really cool too. My tattoos are tiny and kinda wimpy compared to the amount of ink those guys have… So I thought it was really nice of the other artists (and another super inked up customer) to compliment my itty bitty tattoos. Lol.
I know others have complained about their prices being kinda high, which may be true. But honestly I’m very happy with my tattoos so I think the price is appropriate. After all, who wants to skimp on something that is very permanent and have to look at every single day?
If I ever decide to get a third tattoo, this is where you’ll find me.

Legendary –yet expensive– place in Hollywood, but worth the price as some amazing artists are working here. Got tattoos from both Dr Woo and from East (obviously took my appointments months in advance) and couldn’t be happier with the results.

Shamrock definitely lives up to the hype! After admiring East’s work on Instagram for quite awhile, a friend and I decided to make an appointment. Tattoo artists are generally not known for their warm demeanor but everyone we came into contact with was totally nice and helpful.
East’s work is absolutely amazing! As someone who cannot draw a straight line with a ruler, I absolutely appreciate someone who has the talent to make a tattoo absolutely perfect. The only question I left with was wondering what should I get next?

I have one tattoo from Danny Romo and two, soon to be three from East. I absolutely love the single needle, fine line work I’ve gotten done here. The attention to detail is amazing and I couldn’t be happier with them. Any single needle work, East is my go to.

Went there with a friend to get a small finger tattoo, we were told that Rick wouldn’t tattoo fingers and to come back after 7PM. We came back and were told that Rick didn’t care anymore and would do it. They were dismissive and ignored us completely until Rick was ready. Rick was older and since it was only an outline I don’t think he could see well enough for detail. As soon as I left I noticed that he had messed up several of the lines. He also placed my friends tattoo higher on her finger than he did mine. For $ 100 for 10 minutes, you would think they would have cared a little bit to take time to make sure it was done right. Whether or not that is the place to go in LA, they messed up my finger and now I have to go pay another $ 100 to get it fixed.

I’ve had 3 tattoos in the last year here from East and his work is simply amazing. Each time I think he can’t wow me more and each time he does.
The first time I text an idea of a tattoo with some rough idea of what I was looking for. When I went in for my appointment what he’d drawn was beyond my wildest dreams. A few months later I got an itch for another one, and being a lover of elephants I came up with the crazy idea of having an elephant filled with a thumbprint. Instead of calling me crazy, I went in, East drew something freehand and even though I already loved it, added some shading, which I never would have thought of and which took the tattoo to a whole new level. The intricacy on the tattoo is insane. Finally, I decided I wanted a palm tree, and again East not only helped me position it in the best place, but has somehow managed to make something finer and more intricate than my wildest dreams.
Dealing with East is a pleasure, he’s a true artist and will ensure your tattoo is the best it can be. He’s not going to do things he’s not comfortable with just because you ask for it, we’re talking about permanent ink that has his name forever associated with it. But if you trust him he’ll come up with something better than you could have ever imagined… and he’s courteous and helpful with it. He’s always offered for me to text if I have questions and offered to touch up if the fine lines didn’t take after 6 weeks or so.
I always book via text on his instagram. This place isn’t cheap but why would you want a cheap tattoo?!

So, this is my first tattoo experience ever and I decided I might as well go to the best in town, so I was told. Let me say, I pretty much never write reviews because whatever I have in mind to do in any aspect– nails, hair, etc it is always worse than what I envisioned to be. So I will go ahead and tell you that the tattoo Louie did, exceed all my expectations. It looks way better than I had in mind, so this right there is a huuuuge thing for me. I was pretty annoying since it’s my first tattoo and I wanted to be perfect. I could tell they got pretty impatient and annoyed with me also, but hey, I’ll take it, if they are about to do a good job. I wasn’t very easy either:) Louis told me I got super lucky because with no appointment and clear picture of what exactly I wanted, I got in and out in about 2 hours with a beautiful tattoo on my forearm. It’s an atom and the Theory of Relativity Formula next to it. The owner, Mark, came and we were chatting about quantum physics and physics in general and he was just super nice and wonderful guy, as well as Louie:)) By the time I walked out I was in a great mood and super happy and excited from the result. They were also very supportive and super cool. It’s pricey, but for the quality it was absolutely worth it. It is my second day and it already looks absolutely healed and nice. Overall great experience and they met and exceeded my expectations. Way to go guys! I will be back for more:)))

There is a reason this place is labeled as world famous. The artist roster is stacked with some of the most talented guys in the industry, and the shop is run by a living legend himself, Mark Mahoney. If you want a perfect tattoo, this is where you go. And yes, you absolutely get what you pay for, so if you’re looking for something cheap, find someone practicing in their garage. This is a place for people who take the art seriously.
I went to Dr. Woo a few years back and was blown away, all good things to say about that experience. This time I went for it and booked Mark, and I don’t even have words to say how incredible the experience was. It is a day I’ll remember forever, and I can’t wait to book with him again.
Perfectly clean shop, professional artists and shop-​help alike. Like I said, anyone here will give you a fantastic piece of art. If you want someone specific, definitely call and book an appointment, as many artists can have a 6+ month waiting list. If you’re looking to walk-​in, you may have to wait awhile, but rest assured because anyone you get paired with will take care of you and have you leaving with a fantastic tattoo.
Especially being a young girl, sometimes you get treated like shit in tattoo shops. It’s a big deal to me when I can walk into an all-​male shop (especially one of this high reputation and standing) by myself and be treated with as much respect as anyone else. Thank you guys for being awesome. Can’t wait to come back for round 3.

I was so excited that the day came to finally get my tattoo covered. I have a small moon phase that gets mistaken all the time for a birthmark. I currently live and work in San Francisco. I took the time off and flew to Los Angeles. I work for an airline so flying standby during a three day weekend is NOT easy. I arrived 15 minutes early to my appointment and my tattoo artist arrived 30 minutes late. My appointment was at 2 and he showed up at 2:30. But because I was so excited I was like, whatever! So before my appointment I sent pictures of my tattoo and what I wanted. I figured since East specializes in small detailed tattoos, turning my moon phase into a lotus flower would be easy. He was surprised when he saw my tattoo and said it might be kind of difficult. But should be possible. He started to sketch and when he couldn’t figure something out. He started to tell me the picture I sent him weren’t good. I sent him many pictures of lotus flowers from Pinterest (@ravalos) He then began to draw again and the final product looked NOTHING like a lotus. It was HUGE and looked like a wilted rose. I asked if he can change certain details and he told me no. He made excuses to why the flower had to look the way her drew it. My appointment at this point went down hill. He referred me to a Dr. To get my moon phase removed. I basically flew all the way to LA, wasted my Presidents’ Day holiday sitting at a tattoo parlor just to get referred to a Tattoo removal Dr. WASTE OF TIME! I sent all the pictures and pictures of my tattoo to WINTER STONE. He tattoos in the same single needle tattoo style. He couldn’t believe that he couldn’t work with my tattoo and cover it. He was so much nicer and had a will to make what I have pictured in my head come true! I didn’t have time to get it done, but I have an appointment to go back and get what I want. I recommend to reach out to winter stone first before wasting your time here. I’m sad that what I thought was going to be a positive experience turned out negative.

Was a walk-​in for my first tattoo. I got someone within an hour so that was awesome. My tat was SUPER small and simple just four words. I got Freddy and sadly, the font on the bottom is smaller than the font on the top so it looks a little funny. The tattoo also cost $ 200 which is kinda crazy. I wouldn’t go back but to each their own.

I’ve driven by this place hundreds of times. On Sunset Strip across from the old Billboard Live, then Key Club, now One Oak. I only had one tattoo in my life and I made an appointment here with a legend in the industry. Since it was a large chest piece I wanted to go with someone that was highly regarded in the Tattoo business. They actually have many very highly regarded tattoo artists here that are world renown but I chose Freddy Negrete.
I was immediately impressed with the level of cleanliness and hygiene exhibited in the place. The bathroom was spotless. Even though the «parlor» has a ton of history and character, they apparently know well the importance of being a clean and sanitary operation. Freddy took time and great care to design exactly what I wanted and made sure I was comfortable with how things would look, even if it took multiple shots at it. I wasnt going to «settle» on something so I appreciated the extra effort and not being frustrated with my wanting to make things perfect.
My tattoo came out really amazing but I need to go in for a second session to finish. I would highly recommend Freddy Negrete and the Shamrock Social Club for anyone who wants to get an amazing, professional tattoo from one of the worlds greatest tattoo artists. Check out the artists’ Instagram pages where they show lots of their latest work. Each artist has hundreds of thousands of followers.

Mark Mahoney did an amazing job on my inside bicep. He took an idea that I had, drew an outline, then had it ready to go. He is very professional and has the greatest style of black and grey single needle tattooing. I will be back again in a few months for another. Thanks Mark

I went and had a piece done by Dr. Woo. He was great. He was on time, sat with me and went over what I wanted and then designed the piece based off the pictures I brought it, and went to work. the piece turned out awesome though it did require a touch up, which is totally par for the course and not at all a criticism on him (just to be clear for those reading this who may never have gotten tattoos before — touch ups are totally normal, esp with black). if i were just reviewing Dr Woo this would be a 5 star review, hands down.
HOWEVER, needing a touch up meant having to have long protracted interactions with the front desk people and for someone who has social anxiety, that was pretty intimidating honestly, which kind of sucked. i get that this is a super popular destination to get tattoos, and i also get that they have a bunch of big name artists on their roster as well as in their clientele, but man, i can’t think of any other time where people working at a tattoo parlor made me feel like such a loser. i ended up having my husband deal with scheduling my touch up because it just unnerved me.

So yeah, i love my tattoo, am totally planning on going back to see Dr Woo when his book opens again, but man, i really wish the front desk staff wasn’t half as intimidating as they are.

I got my Tattoo done by Freddy Negrete. He deserves not only Five stars… He deserves all Ten (10) Stars!
However the place it self, just stay away. The owner of the place is so fkn GREEDY!!!
He charged me for the touch up. Really!!!

I got my tattoo from the one and only Mark Mahoney about 10 yrs ago and it still looks new never had a touch-​up he is just that talented and awesome! My boyfriend at the time got me in after he did his he usually has a 6 month waiting list… I was so happy but I had to do it in one 4 hour sitting… It was painful not gonna lie, but I wanted to do something special in memory of my mom… I let him know what I wanted and we came up with a design together and I get so many compliments on it… THX so much Mark and when i’m ready for another tattoo I will be coming back!

Love this place, East is a class act and has enough talent to spare. He’s been working on one of my pieces for a while now and is fixing my girls terrible tattoo, don’t laugh it’s bad! Lol… Don’t waste your time on other shops without the talent or experience these guys have. Remember you get what you pay for as this cover up proves!

Got tattooed here a week ago. Had an appointment with East which is a great artist. My review isn’t about him though; It’s about the place itself and other people who work there.
Agreeing with other reviewers– the front desk kid is a complete douche. Major attitude for nothing, like he can’t be bothered.
This place is insanely overpriced and they don’t even have the courtesy to have as little as a water filter available for their clients. Overall, just very, very, very poor customer service.
NOTE: they charge 10% fee if you’re not paying cash. Be prepared since they don’t bother telling you this upfront.
Given that all tats start at $ 150 to $ 200 and up, either pay cash or you’ll be forced to pay a credit/​debit fee that could otherwise be used to tip your artist.

This tattoo shop bring back lots of memories. I just turned 18 and wanted my first professional tattoo. I already had one which was poorly done at someone’s house long ago (yes I was an insane teenager my mother should have chained me in my room and never let me out of the house), but considering it was done by an individual who had the shakiest hand I’ve ever come across it looked like pure crap.
This place isn’t cheap I’ll tell you that, but again it’s a legendary shop and its on Sunset Strip so what do you expect. Andrew was the one who did my ink. I recall him being quiet yet polite and professional. Always. He did 5 out of my 14 tats and I was a happy camper, however I was young and his price was killing me. I found a new tattoo artist (Abl at Graffiti Palace) whose pricing is a lot more fair (I guess he doesn’t have crazy expensive rent on Sunset Blvd) and he is mad talented and passionate about art as well. I’ve stuck with him ever since, but Andrew would have been my boy for life has his pricing been just a tad bit lower.
I don’t remember much else about my experience at Shamrock because it was so long ago, but writing this review did bring back memories of what a crazy 18 year old I was. And by the way I take the worst care of my tattoos, I’m always in the sun, I almost always forget to sunblock; yet the tattoos Andrew did are there bright as day and haven’t faded many years later even one bit.

Nice guys that try to attend to their customers! I got my second tattoo here and i brought in a design and they told me they could do it! I had found them on instagram and seen that their shop does very fine lines which was what I wanted for this design. This tattoo took roughly an hour and was pretty painful. The only downside to this shop is that it is not cheap but they have good service and quality work.

This review has been over a year in the making.
Not that it took a year to get my tattoo, or that I got it a year ago and haven’t written about it. I mean, from deciding on the artist in mid ’13 to calmly walking through the door for the actual appointment in the last week of February — every step of the way — I knew and was positive Shamrock was the right tattoo shop for me.
By writing this review, I hope that I communicate to the guys at Shamrock and anyone that considers this shop for tattoos, especially for first-​time-​tattoo folks: you will be treated with the utmost respect, professionalism and consideration by everyone there, and after my tattoo experience, they’ve got a loyal client.
Tattoos mark a monumental moment in a person’s life, and no less so when in 1994 I had a brother pass away. It was the first time I SERIOUSLY considered it a legitimate reason to get a tattoo. Problem was, in the mid-90’s I didn’t know where to go looking for quality artists. But, I never lost interest in tattoos and I started casually looking at tattooers and studios about 7 — 10 years ago.
Then, in 2009, after meeting a wonderful young lady and eventually becoming a husband and daddy, I decided to revisit the notion of permanent displays of pride instead of loss, and center them around having a son and daughter! I started narrowing down the artists I liked and the type of tattoo I wanted, and they all seemed to point towards the Shamrock Social Club.
When I finally made the decision to stop by, I went to the shop right after work, still dressed in a suit. No matter; Cody respectfully shook my hand and said that my guy would be booked though the rest of the year. This was in APRIL, 2014. Instead of being dismissive, though, Cody mentioned that the books would open up in late August, early September and to try again then.
September came, I returned to the shop, and Whitman took time out of what looked like a busy night to talk with me and said that the definitive date was October 1^st, right at opening bell, 1pm.
On Oct 1^st, I went to the shop and got in line — who gets in line for a tattoo? — for an appointment with Woo, and watched Wes wade through several calls of people trying to get an appointment with him as well. Thanks for your patience Wes, that couldn’t have been fun…
For four and a half months, I waited. After a mix-​up with appointments for that day, though, I finally walked in, no nerves, happy as can be, for my appointment with Woo.
He introduced himself, and I gave him several bits of art and an idea: a helmet for my son Liam, flanked by scrolls or filigree. He went to work, and I started talking to a young chef who was getting Picasso’s «Guernica» finished around his leg in a 6+ hour session with Freddy Negrete.
About an hour later, maybe less, Woo produced a detailed stencil of a side-​profiled medieval helmet for my inside forearm, much more ornate than I was expecting! It looked amazing.
The pain was minimal, exactly described as an annoying scratch. After two hours of talking about foie gras, True Detective and family, my tribute to my boy was done. I couldn’t believe it.
After a few words with Jake about aftercare, my arm wrapped up in plastic wrap, I walked out elated and thankful to Mark, Mark’s whole crew and Woo for «being nice» and helping me realize my dream for my first tattoo. Until next time, guys…
