The Humble Abode Spa

I wanted to write an update because I ended up purchasing a package after my 3-​session groupon with Amber.
I’m halfway through a 10-​session package and it’s just been so great. I can’t go more than once/​week due to financial constraints and Amber has been wonderful with really making sure she gives me extremely focused training in the areas that are giving me trouble and contributing to the injury I’ve been rehabbing. She’s very encouraging and the women at the front desk have been amazingly supportive and so wonderful to work with.
I’m super happy and hope to continue my training as much as money allows because it’s been such a great experience. Highly recommend.

Hands down best place to come to for all of your spa needs!!! The whole experience of this place is so relaxing!

Nicky was AWESOME! she was very knowledgeable and professional and i had this huge blackhead on my neck and she got most of it out! she did a great job for keeping my skin nice and clear and hydrated. The most part about her and the spa is they dont try to sell products to me. i really hate when i go to facial and end up getting pressured to spend a lot on products and i dont even use much after! the place is also very discrete and very nice and relaxing. highly recommended! I got so much compliment on skin after having facial there :)

Such a great experience here! I received a gift for a massage and they were able to take me today when I called. The building is lovely as is their boutique which is filled with candles, soaps, etc. It smells wonderful too! My massage therapist Eddie was absolutely kind, respectful and incredibly skilled. I’ve never had a better massage in my life and I’ll be sure to book all of my future services here.

I came here last weekend to use my Travelzoo voucher for a 50-​minute facial. The place is cute, with a very cottage-​like feel. I came a bit early so they asked me to wait outside the the courtyard. I think my facialist was also running late as I didn’t start my facial in time.
The facial itself was good but nothing extraordinary. My facialist recommended that I get a chemical peel ($ 30 additional) which I hesitated to do due to a past horrible experience; however, this time it was fine. I think the only thing I would have wished for was some sort of head massage to go with it.
My facialist seemed like she would flip back and forth from being friendly to slightly annoyed with some of my questions. Maybe she just had a different sense of humor that I didn’t get.
At the price I paid, I would maybe go back but at the regular price, I would probably opt to go to a nicer spa.

Wonderful experience. Friendly invite upon walking in the door. You can tell they enjoy their job at the spa. My massage was one of the best I’ve ever had along with my facial by Nikki. I’m just visiting from out of state but I will def be back. Thanks Humble Abode for a great start to our Saturday morning!

I’ve gotten a few facials here and there before, but now I have found my spot. I see Nicky once every 2 months or so, and she is absolutely great. I’ve watched my skin improve (little by little) over the past few months, which I’m very happy about. She’s very gentle, which is perfect for me because I have sensitive skin, but she’s also extremely thorough. In the past my skin has been red after facials and you could definitely tell I had extractions, but that’s not the case with Nicky. I even schedule my sessions during my lunch break and go back to work afterwards — no makeup, but I usually feel like I’m glowing!
Oh, and every time I call in for an appointment and visit in person, everyone has been so sweet :)

I haven’t actually had the pleasure of using the spa yet, but my friends and I purchased a gift certificate here for a mutual friend as a bridal shower gift. We came to the spa on a Sunday not realizing it would be closed, but we were lucky enough to catch Joan, who graciously let us in and let us purchase the certificate. The spa looks truly lovely and I can’t wait to hear what my friend thinks. Thanks Joan!

This is my favorite spa in LA. I think I’ve tried almost every service they offer when I lived in LA. Joan and Liz are amazing and always make me and other customers feel like home. The spa is very inviting and they have many ways (massages, mani, pedi, chiro, etc.) to shake off the LA drama and just relax.
Now that I live in Ohio, I make sure I stop by the Humble Abode when I’m in LA for business or pleasure. I recently stopped in for a chiropractic appointment with Dr. Arlene Johnson. She too is phenomenal and is the only chiropractor that makes me truly feel better each and every time I visit her.
I HIGHLY recommend this spa to anyone in the LA area! I absolutely love it there.

Had a Groupon for a 40-​minute massage and a deep cleansing facial ($ 89 for $ 180 value).
Making an appointment over the phone was easy and quick. Parking (to my surprise) also was easy. The Humble Abode is located in a little shopping area and it somehow manages to feel like an enchanted forest in the middle of West Hollywood. Very cute.
After a friendly and efficient check-​in, I was taken upstairs for the treatments. Both technicians offered me an upsell option before we got started — telling me what could be added on for an additional small amount. Usually, this sort of thing would annoy me, but in this case it really didn’t feel aggressive. Regardless, I was up-​sold!
Sabina did my massage and was patient with this stress case. Very relaxing. Nicky did my facial and obviously really knew what she was doing. I felt like a new person upon emerging from my candle scented treatment area.
When checking out, some more selling happened — they offer packages at really discounted prices if you pre-​pay for services. It’s a good idea, but I was seriously too zoned out to think about all that.
Humble Abode is a lovely place for some pampering for you, or a terrific idea for a gift certificate for someone you really really like! If you see a good deal for this place, I highly recommend you grab it. And even if you don’t, this is worth checking out — their regular prices don’t seem to be out of line with similar places in WeHo.

Humble Abode feels like the kind of place your older Aunt owns in some out of the way town. ‘Quaint’ and ‘rustic’ come to mind; it’s fine but not my style.
I had a massage there and it wasn’t great. The masseuse was friendly but her technique was lacking; there was no flow. It felt like a random series of pressing and moves that didn’t match on both sides. It felt like the kind of massage that an untrained friend offers to do as a favor. You’re thinking you can use a massage but they’re not really helping … The massage room was also a bit run down.
The prices are low and the location is very central and I’m sure that appeals to some people. It’s not enough for me, though so I won’t be going back. Salon Soleil is down the street — much better option for price, atmosphere and service.

I heart The Humble Abode. This is a tucked away little oasis just off La Cienega, and you’d never know you’re in the middle of the city. The staff is wonderful and friendly, and I can’t say enough good things about Lisa for her massage skills and Nikki for a facial. Lisa knows the body and what a GOOD deep tissue is — she will really work the kinks out if you need serious work and attention. Nikki’s facial was through, relaxing and she had great suggestions for skincare and was so sweet with my many questions. They seem to always be running great specials for massages, facials or combo services, so you really have no reason to not check this out. I’ve gone for full price many times and it’s worth every penny even then — such an amazing deal when you book w groupon or otherwise. These guys are the real deal!

I have been going to The Humble Abode for several years and truly enjoy the family like atmosphere of the group that works here. Nicky has been giving me facials several times a year and each treatment is relaxing and excellent. I recommend The Humble Abode to clients of mine all the time and no one has ever been disappointed.

I got a 40minute massage with LISA, she knew excactly how to massage my body and could «roll with the punches» very well .she is a strong woman with a very good «flow» and is very knowlegeable. I couldn’t believe it was only 40 minutes! i kept thinking my time would be up because the whole massage was such high quality! there was no bs right from the beginning and i loved it. thank you lisa. many kudos!

I bought a Groupon for a facial and gave it to my mom as part of her birthday gift. My mom’s last facial was close to 20 years ago, as she doesn’t like spas and doesn’t feel comfortable having anyone do anything but her hair. However, she takes pride in her skin, and even though she looks fantastic, I knew she’d appreciate what a facial can do. Alicia turned her around in one session! My mom can’t wait to get her next facial now. She couldn’t get over how fantastic her skin felt and looked, and she was so relaxed afterward. The atmosphere at Humble Abode was lovely, accessible, and put my mom at ease. I haven’t been to Humble Abode before, but I’m definitely going to give it a shot now. Thanks, Alicia and team Humble Abode for making part of my mom’s birthday experience so wonderful!

I bought a 40 minute relaxation massage for $ 39 on groupon. Right away the masseusse offered me an upgrade to deep tissue for $ 20 extra, 20 minutes more for another $ 20, or $ 30 for both. I declined both offers but in retrospect probably should’ve gotten the deep tissue add-​on. While the relaxation massage was nice, it was a bit too gentle, though she did briefly work out some upper back knots. My masseuse was very sweet and talked me through deep breathing while she worked out the knots. (In my experience most people just go for it with no warning!)
The place itself is very soothing, a quaint homey feeling. Just walking through the leafy outdoor path into the place brings a nice charm. The rooms are cozy and warm. She offered me 3 scents to coat the room with– I chose spearmint. I loved that after massaging my back she covered it with warm towels, and also when she asked me to turn over, put my head on a warm toasty pillow… so relaxing.

This is delayed, but I totally agree with the review below about massages vs. facials because I literally had the same experience. I’ve come here twice for massages and was pleasantly surprised how good it was, and it was two different people. One time I friend was also with me and she was happy with her person as well. The check in desk staff is always nice and the treatment rooms seem fine.
Normally I don’t splurge and get both massage/​facial at once, but there was a good offer and I decided to go for it since I had a positive experience in the past. But I was so frustrated with my facial with Niki. First I go in and she starts calling me by not my name, so I nicely corrected her. She was still setting up because I guess she had just arrived at work, so it took a couple of mins to start. Then she put some steam on/​put on a mask and left the room for what felt like a long time. She came back and started the extractions and I winced a little (um, because they hurt!), so she was like ‘ok, i’ll stop’ (as if she was relieved she didn’t have to do any more work). I said no, it’s fine, please keep going… and she did a few more and was done faster than any other facialist I’ve ever had. She also left the room a second time at some point. Finally she put a cream on and was like, ok, done. My «50 min facial» was done in 37 mins, not all of which she was even in the room and working! It was literally the worst, most half-​assed facial I had ever gotten and I didn’t even want to pay… too bad I prepaid.

I bought two deals that Travel Zoo was offering for a massage and facial combo. I took my mom for her birthday and we both had nothing but great things to say about the facility, the staff and the services. It is a quaint spot tucked away and it reflects its name well (it’s not pretentious in the least).
Both my masseuse and esthetician were super knowledgeable and are GREAT at what they do. Although they are not close to my house, I am looking forward to my (much needed) next visit!

After I discovered this place from a Unilocal deal I’ve kept coming back for massages and other treatments. Its a nice oasis in the middle of WeHo. I love the staff, everyone is so warm and friendly. I’ve had massages from probably every therapist and they’ve been great. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
There is metered parking out front that I haven’t had trouble finding except its only 2 hours so watch out because I got a ticket once which wasn’t fun.

I came here for the Spa Week specials and I will totally be back. Mostly because I purchased two other procedures as I was leaving. It was that good. I had a massage with Leia and a facial with Joan. The massage was excellent. Just the right amount of pressure and her touch was perfect. I usually get deep tissue in an effort to work out tension and knots, but I really just wanted to relax and not have someone dig in and ‘hurt me’. There’s nothing pleasurable to me about having the knots soothed out by someone’s elbow. Anyway, after explaining to Leia what I wanted, while still have a firm pressure, she gave me exactly what I needed and put me in that zone where you’re just so relaxed and peaceful. At the same time, I could feel that she moved a lot in my body, so it was a great benefit. I will totally come back to see her and would recommend her.
The facial with Joan was just okay. Her touch was very light, I don’t feel like there was a lot of deep cleansing going on and she spent more time on the facial massage than anything else. I will say she did steam a lot and did a fair amount of extractions, but because she spent so much time on the massage, there was no time for a mask at the end. She also applied a scrub a second time after she did the extractions — which I found odd. She also needs to replace her scrub brush — I could feel the bristles that were frayed and ready to be retired.
As a former aesthetician, I’m sorry to say she didn’t come off as comfortable in her skill level. I could be totally off, but that was my take. My skin looks fine, but it wasn’t anything that I couldn’t have done at home.
The receptionist couldn’t have been any nicer — both on the phone and in person. She even fed my parking meter for me! Parking is not an issue here. As someone else said, I found a spot right out in front of this quiet and charming little spot. What a lovely discovery.
