The Real Juice

I tried this cleanse because of all the great reveiws and write up in New Beauty magazine. The ordering process was a breeze, great customer service and quick response to questions.
Delivery was great and right on time with an email letting me know it had arrived.
I have never done a juice cleanse before so maybe I am just not used to what it is like, but I had imagined yummy juices for the amount of time chose and that it would be a breeze.
I only ordered the one day cleanse, level 1, so I could try the juice and see how it went. I made it until 5pm and by them was so starving I was dizzy. My stomach was screaming so loud every one around me could hear it. The first juice of the day was really the only one I would ever choose to drink. The green ones were downright disgusting and tasted like pureed cucumber, which is an ingrediant but I was hoping for something to mask the strong flavor. I felt they needed sweetener and more fruit flavor to cover up the veggies. Another flavor had red peper which made it undrinkable in my opinion. I had tried to drink that one to avoid the other green one because it started to make me gag. I basically held my nose closed as I drank them to try to just get it overwith.
Anyway, by 3pm I was so hungry I could not stand it and I gave in and had two bananas thinking that would help. By 5pm I could not take it any longer and ate a meal. I did not do anything more than go to work this day, did not excercise or burn crazy calories, so I have no idea how anyone could do this for 3 days or even a week as suggested.

The mental hurdle of a juice cleanse is… well, a hurdle.
Thankfully, doing my first juice cleanse with The Real Juice was pretty much as easy as it gets. I was so incredibly nervous, but after taking the plunge and deciding to do a 3 day cleanse, it ended up being so much easier than expected. Don’t get me wrong — it’s certainly a challenge. But the juices from this place are awesome… even the dreaded green one.
Day one was pretty easy. Day two was a bit tougher, but I stuck it through. Day three? I felt like a champion. I had been getting better and better sleep throughout, my skin blemishes had cleared up, and I had so much energy. It was kind of incredible. On top of everything, I’d essentially retrained myself to enjoy vegetables… I craved them after having finished all the juices!
Of all the juices, I loved the Fantasize and the Replenish the most. Drinking the Indulge juice at the end of the day was a welcome treat… almost like a milkshake. Also, I loved getting a cooler so I could bring each day’s juices to work. The customer service and support through email was great. I would have never thought I’d have said this before doing it, but I loved doing this juice cleanse.

This is the real stuff! It’s fresh, tastes great and has probably been the best customer service experience I’ve had. I’m coming back for my next cleanse for sure.

So now that I’ve been eating real food all week, I’ve come to appreciate the recent 3-​day juice cleanse I embarked on as a journey to cleanse out my 20s. As someone who just dipped her toe in the shallow end of the 30s pool, I was looking for ways to start fresh (mind, body, spirit — and by spirit, I mean find a new adult liquid to call my own), and was approached by The Real Juice at such a moment when nothing sounded more perfect than spending 3 days bringing my body back to life by giving it only the nutrients it really needs to survive (sadly, as much as I love pizza, I’m pretty sure I could do with out it and that I won’t disintegrate into nothing if I stop eating it for a handful of days).
Shila emailed me my options (1, 2, 3 or 5 Day), as well as the two different style cleanses I could do depending on how green I wanted to get. The Cleanse I phase offers a more balanced fruit to vegetables option than the Cleanse II, which is much more leafy (read: detoxy) and intimidating if you’re not an avid juicer. I was also given a regimen to follow a few days before the cleanse to prepare my body for the jolt of liquids it would be consuming. To be honest, I wasn’t great about following that. The idea is to wean off certain food types that the body is used to eating. I asked her about working out, and she said that was perfectly fine on the cleanse, but that as you would expect, you might be more fatigued during your workouts than normal. She also suggested choosing a 3-​day scenario where I would be preoccupied so I wasn’t just sitting around thinking about the fact that all I can do is drink juice. I chose a weekend since weekdays/​nights are crazy for me, and although she was surprised at my choice, I think it worked out perfectly.
I got home late on Thursday to find the package at my door. I loved how effortless the ordering/​delivering process was and the cooler was a nice perk! Unloading the 18 juices into my fridge was a little overwhelming, as it is a ridiculous amount of juice. Like you could fill a bathtub with it and just let your body soak up the nutrients that way instead. It’s 6, 16.9 oz bottles… PER DAY! It did look like a little army of juices lined up in the fridge — a colorful, rid your body of all toxins, kind of brotherhood. The ingredients of each was pretty subtle, so I wasn’t nervous about the taste, I just really couldn’t believe how much liquid it was. Here’s the breakdown in order:
1. Fantasize: Carrot, apple, pineapple, orange
2. Energize: Kale, cucumber, apple, celery, lemon
3. Replenish: Carrot, apple, beet, orange, pineapple, parsley
2 repeated
4. Anti-​Age: Apple, carrot, grapefruit, lemon, red pepper
5. Indulge: Cashew, filtered water, date, pure vanilla extract, Mediterranean sea salt
I found all of them drinkable (4 was my favorite in taste), however because it was so much juice/​liquid and I don’t have a very programmed meal pattern in the real world, I couldn’t really ever get to Indulge because I would be ready for bed at that point and the last thing I wanted to do was drink another beverage. I had some of it the first night but that one pretty much sat untouched for the cleanse. Shila did warn me to drink water (yay more liquid!) in between each juice, as you still need to stay hydrated and it also helps your teeth adjust to the program, too.
I felt super productive all weekend keeping myself busy, cleaning the house, assembling furniture, running errands, I went and saw a concert at The Getty, met friends for drinks, worked out, etc. and I never found myself hungry or tempted and it was easy to be on the go because of the cooler and ice packs you could easily throw in your car. I did foolishly go to a dinner and show on Sunday night and they had a two-​order minimum so sadly, I did have to veer off the juice path and get solid food, but I tried to get the most unprocessed, natural items I could. Fortunately for me I didn’t feel sick or gross in doing so, but I do wish I could have finished off like a true juice champion. I also ate a breakfast burrito the next morning when I was supposed to follow another suggested diet to bring my body back into the real world without throwing it in raw, but I carried on the following week eating solid meals, while still incorporating juices into the mix here and there, so it was beneficial in helping me not feel the need to overindulge every time food was involved.
I now realize that it helped me recognize where I store my water weight, which was eye opening and now I’m also conscious of some foods I need to scale back on or eliminate altogether that cause me to be a little chunkily monkily at times. It also helped clear my skin of some imperfections, which is a huge bonus. So while I didn’t expect anything from it other than just starting fresh, it definitely made me more self aware and taught me to listen to my body for once.
$ 65/​day to feel like a newer, purer version of yourself? Sign me up… again!

The Real Juice is AMAZING. Customer service is personal and top-​notch. I got the 3-​day cleanse and everything was delivered (for free!) to my doorstep, packed with ice packs and a cute little carry-​n-​go cooler that fits a days worth of juice (6). This was actually my first cleanse, and The Real Juice now has me as a loyal customer. The juices are so delicious and the cashew milk is such a treat! I honestly never felt hungry or deprived during the three days.
Shila, the owner, was so lovely and offered to help with any questions I may have during the cleanse. But it wasn’t needed because once I purchased the 3-​day package, I received a downloadable file of tips & instructions for before, during and after the cleanse. So helpful for a first timer! I highly recommend! The pricing is a bit less than Pressed or Bluprint, so that’s a nice plus. Right now they’re doing a Grand Opening special of $ 65/​day. I know it sounds pricey, but it is SO worth it.
