History

Established in 2009.

We are the third owners of this restaurant. Our boss is a local lady that has loved here her entire life. She comes from a family of restaurant owners and really knows her stuff. We take pride in our food and we are a family. In July of 2013 the previous owners decided they had too many other businesses to run and contacted our new owner. She decided this was what she was meant to do and they agreed. It then became When Pigs Fly of Ashe and it started out a little rough. It took a while to get things under control due to the fact she was so young. However, after employing a small group of her friends and working long hours it has seemed to pay off for this group that we call our work family. Come see it for yourself and taste the homecooked, fresh smoked goodness!

Meet the Business Owner

Kristin H.

Business Owner

I became the owner and operator and daytime cook of When Pigs Fly of Ashe in 2013. I was scared at first to take on such a large venture but I have worked diligently to overcome that initial fear. I was a single mother and was working multiple jobs to make ends meet. I had worked in a lot of the restaurants around tow as a waitress, a cook, a hostess and a manager and knew that this type of undertaking was something I knew how to do. I grew up in a restaurant. My mothers family owns Shatley Springs and I learned a lot from being around that successful business, so I took this place head on and have really made something of it. As most small towns go, you have a lot of people who don’t want to see you succeed, but I have ignored all that and pushed through spite the bad mouthing and jealousy. I have an awesome crew and wonderful customers. I am thankful every day for this opportunity and hope that you will come see for yourself how amazing our small restaurant is. See y’all soon!
