Fabric Center specializes in providing high-​quality quilting cottons, flannels and especially cuddle/​minky. We are the largest supplier of cuddle and minky fabric in not only Salt Lake City but along the Wasatch Front!

History

Established in 1983.

Fabric Center is a family owned and operated business started by Ken and Joan Cahoon. They started in a tiny storefront offering flatfold quilting cottons and trims at a strip mall adjoining our current location. It was truly a family undertaking; Joan and Ken’s daughter Lisa fondly recalls hours spent re-​rolling and straightening flatfold fabric stacks.

After 29 years in business, a huge growth in product selection & services and several moves around West Jordan, Ken and Joan decided to retire and left the business in the hands of their daughter and son-​in-​law, Lisa and Jon Conrad. Lisa and Jon continue the spirit of Fabric Center that was created by Ken and Joan: large selection, exceptional customer service and competitive prices.

Business Owner

Lisa grew up working at the Fabric Center, which was started by her parents Joan and Ken in 1983. When it came time for Joan and Ken to retire, Lisa eagerly took up the reins and purchased the business from her parents. Now she works to keep the business going as her parent’s legacy and to meet the needs of the sewing and quilting community in Salt Lake City and beyond.

I’ve just recently found out about Fabric Center and only been there twice, but both times the staff couldn’t have been more cordial or helpful. I love the hemstitched receiving blanket and burb cloth kits. On one side of the display are baby girl-​appropriate kits and on the other side ones for boys. To make it even more convenient, across the aisle are crochet threads to match the kits. Now every mother-​to-​be among my family & friends receives a blanket & burb cloth set personalized with whatever crocheted edging suits my fancy.
Actually, it’s good I don’t live close to the Fabric Center: I’d spend way too much money there. And I’d have to take their quilting class because it looks like such fun.

Good place for speciality stuff but they don’t take care of their customers! They claim to send coupons to your email address but magically they never show up ! You verify they have the address correct on file and still no coupons. Was advised that the owners don’t accomodate their customers and employees get in trouble for honoring coupons they don’t have printed off. Will not be back ! Try to support small business in Utah, but they rip you off ! Expect to spend a lot and horrible customer service.

I’m rather new to the sewing thing, so my sister and I took a day to tour the fabric stores in Salt Lake Valley. I have to say this was my favorite. The store is well organized and clean. Prices were good and fabric is better quality than what one would get in a craft store. The staff is what earned this store 5 stars, they were helpful and knowledgeable. Associates have different areas of specialties and if one does not know the answer they will find someone who does. I especially enjoyed working with Maquel she is just packed full of fabric facts. This is likely to be my go to store from now on.

I guess the store itself was ok, but the staff was rude and not very helpful at all. Not to mention, it would be nice to know what their sales were and what is included in them. The fabric was REALLY expensive. I would just say go to Joann’s or even online rather than here.
