C & R Cleaning

Their servers was not what was advertised to be. We needed our carpets cleaned for move out. A worker named Karen showed up with a rug doctor. They didn’t not say they were going to use a rug doctor. If i wanted that used, I’d buy it myself. We thought at 100 dollars something more professional and with a deep cleansing capability would be used.
We asked her to inform us by phone call or text when she would be finished. There was two bedrooms and living room that required work. He had other tasks to do and could not stay to watch her «clean» the carpet.
She NEVER did this. She simply left without saying a word, leaving our apartment door unlocked. My friend called their office, because she didn’t leave a receipt. The management company we rent through requires one. She texts us back saying she didn’t know we wanted one. She, of course, never got back to us with a receipt.
We paid the fee for stain removal and needless to say, her methods didn’t produced any tangible results.
Now we have to get the carpets cleaned by an ACTUAL professional.
My advice, Its not worth the cost and its best to go with a company that will use a deep cleaning machine.

I am also a little surprised by the very negative reviews here. I bought a Deal Chicken coupon for carpet cleaning. When I called to make an appointment, I did speak to the aforementioned Kenny. He was professional and respectful during our conversation. He talked to me about add-​ons but wasn’t pushy. I was pleased that he scheduled the carpet cleaning for the next day. His staff person arrived promptly as scheduled, and was friendly. She worked quickly and completed the job in the time frame I was promised. I have no complaints about how the service was delivered.
The carpet cleaning was not the professional level cleaning you might expect from someplace like Stanley Steamer. The person used a unit similar to what you would rent at a hardware store, that gives you a surface clean, not a down deep clean. That was OK by me because Kenny made it clear this was for a carpet shampoo, so I expected it, but it was not the kind of bargain that Deal Chicken make it seem. I would pay $ 50 again to have this type of carpet cleaning, but no way would I pay $ 100 which was the «value» of the service on Deal Chicken. Maybe that is a function of Deal Chicken and not C & R. But whatever. I got what I paid for, in any regard.
My suggestion to those reading these reviews is to take the bad ones with a grain of salt. My experience with C & R was not at all like described in other reviews.

Please do NOT sure this service. Kenny is a rude business person who does not know how to treat customers. He tells customers to «get off their high horse» & «the world does not revolve around you» when the customer can’t reschedule. I purchased their «groupon/​deal chicken» coupon and wow — difficult situations all the way around. I rescheduled days — beginning of the month to end of the month. As Kenny will tell you «No problem! We’ll take care of you!» Right! They do NOT take care of you. In the two days they were to provide cleaning services they rescheduled 3 times! What respectable company does that? None! They don’t tell you there is an extra cost in the coupon to move furniture. I didn’t mind paying for the extra services if they were provided! As the employees left who didn’t provide the extra services left — she made sure to pick up that cashier’s check! Company who talks down to customers and steals. Wow. So far Kenny has hung up on me, and called me back three times with leaving a voice mail once. The last call I told him to stop calling me. The only thing this «company» can do is refund my money! Please stay away from this company! Don’t waste your time, energy, and money on this sad excuse for a business.
Also C&R does not have a true address. The address listed was an empty apartment! When I asked Kenny about it he said «oh we use the apt for storage». I’m thinking it’s a safety harness so he doesn’t have to deal with people face to face. Only a true coward would speak to customers the way he does.

Please do not use this company! We hired this business to clean our carpets after purchasing a Deal Chicken coupon for them to clean 3 rooms and a hallway for $ 49 (½ price). When scheduling the appointment, they charged us 2 upcharges for adding a stairway ($ 10) and pretreatment ($ 10) which I paid by check when the cleaning lady Karen had finished. When I hired this company, I had expected «Professional carpet cleaning» as touted on the Deal Chicken and the C&R website, and when C&R arrived, it was just Karen and a Rug Doctor machine. She used all our hot water (they did not provide their own), and dumped the dirty water down the toilets, one of which had backed up and caused a mess. Luckily we were able to fix that problem ourselves and did not have to have a plumber come repair it. By the next day, our downstairs carpet was still slightly damp and smelled moldy/​mildewy (and we had ample circulation in place for the carpet to dry). Because of the holiday weekend (Labor Day), I was unable to call the company until Tuesday morning to file a complaint with them. When I called and talked with Kenny, he was unwilling to make any adjustments or even offer a refund of the extra $ 20 I had spent upon arrival. He said if I had filed a complaint before Karen had left then he may have made an adjustment, but once she leaves, he will not refund any money due to customer dissatisfaction. The carpet is still filthy and many stains remain — even though we paid for the «pretreatment» (some spray on stuff in a can that resembled scrubbing bubbles or Resolve foam), so now we are paying to have our carpets cleaned again by real professionals so our carpet doesn’t continue to mold.

I was surprised to see all of the negative reviews of C&R on here. I have had all good experiences with C&R. The owner has always been very nice, professional, and friendly. I initially used them because I had a DealChicken and I was so pleased with them that I started regular service. They do thorough cleanings, and if there is anything specific that I ask them to do, they will do it (for example, I noticed some buildup of hard water stains in the tub and asked if they could try to get them out, and when they were done, it was perfectly clean). The people who come to clean aren’t extremely friendly, but they aren’t unfriendly — they are serious, they come, they do their job, and they go.

One star is way too high. Rude owner called me some very vulgar words and hung up on me. Deal chicken really needs to stop advertising them. It really makes deal chicken look bad

Avoid like the plague. Or anything that will raise your blood pressure, make you crazy, and take money out of your pocket. The cleaners walk around like they’re half asleep and, since they give you a limited amount of time, not much gets done. But the real problem is with the management. Nasty, unprofessional, and downright misrepresenting what they do, how they work, and what they charge. The only way C&R can survive by continually offering Groupons and sucking in new customers. This won’t work for long since Lafayette/​West Lafayette is a small town, and their reputation have been getting around. I wish I had talked to a woman at work who had a similar experience with C&R before I hired them. I could have avoided many headaches by going with another cleaning service. Unambiguously terrible.

I cannot believe the terrible service of this company. From the very beginning I had issues with them.
I am on the board of students advisors for my apartment building and we regularly test services around the West Lafayette area. C&R cleaning ran a
ad and we decided to try them out.
When I called to make an appointment the woman who answered the call was extremely rude. She insisted that the deal was over and kept arguing with me until I had to read the dealchicken voucher word for word to her. Then she informed me that with deal chicken ads they could only work 9am-​5pm Mon– Fri and we had to supply our own cleaning supplies. I thought this was odd because these terms were not listen anywhere on the dealchicken voucher and the women admitted to having open spots available. Nevertheless, I booked for 9am the following Monday.
At 9:05am on the Monday C&R called and told me that they could not make it. Not only that but they refused to compensate for the fact that we had to make arrangements to ensure we were there to let them in. When we expressed our displeasure about being given such short notice, the woman on the phone flipped out saying things like,
«Those are the terms, so take it or leave it»
«Well we called so if you don’t like what I am saying call DealChicken for a refund»
«I don’t need your lecture on customer service, if you are just going to criticize my business I am going to hang up on you»
«I don’t know where you are going with this, so get to the point or I have other things to go do»
By the time I came off the phone I was so angry and emotionally drained. I could not believe that a business would treat a potential customer. When I told her who we were and the amount of possible business she could receive by being our apartment building’s official cleaner she replied
«So what, we don’t need your business»
«I don’t care if you tell anyone about this, Unilocal is not important to us. If that is what you are going to call me and tell me then I am going to go.»
Well. There you have it. She is obviously never going to get our business. We have contracted DealChicken for a refund. After speaking with others I have realized that they may have been purposely rude because we were voucher holders and they wanted to schedule a higher paying client. Which is completely unprofessional and cost them a ton of business.
NEVER GO WITH C&R CLEANING. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS.
