Route 66 — when Triple XXX is too busy but you still want a Purvis and some root beer. Yes, it’s the same menu, but there’s more room and less drunk kids. I stopped in for a quick lunch on a Sunday and had to wait about 10 mins for a table. The place was a little chaotic with seemingly nobody sure of how to efficiently seat people. But no matter, I eventually got a spot at the counter and was muching on a burger dripping with peanut butter in no time. Pro tip: come with a friend and then split the Purvis and the Brees, that way you get the best of both worlds. Oh, and don’t forget a frosty mug of root beer. I’m not sure how you can’t have a good day after a combo like that.

Go to triple X. This place is a total knock off of triple X food. Service was terrible(server got 2⁄3 of our orders wrong and it wasn’t even busy), the food was half the portion I normally got at triple X. I’m not returning here again.

My wife, daughter, son-in-law and I had Sunday breakfast here a week or so ago. I enjoyed the old-time-diner atmosphere, and the food was very good as well. My daughter and I had the Drew Brees: scrambled eggs, potatoes(she had the hash browns, I had the fried potatoes); biscuits; chicken fried steak. It was very good, although having taste-tested both kinds of potatoes, I think my daughter made the right choice in getting the hash browns. I was thinking my potatoes would be thin-sliced, but they were cubed and not very crispy. My wife had a grilled cheese sandwich with homemade potato chips. She enjoyed her meal too, but neither she nor I thought the potato chips lived up to their hype. Prices were reasonable, but one major irritant was that they do not offer free refills on coca-cola. I can’t bring myself to pay close to two dollars for coke that I could buy at the grocery store for about thirty cents, so I had coffee instead. They do offer free refills on that. This annoyance notwithstanding, this is certainly a place I’d recommend for breakfast, and if I lived in West Lafayette I’d be sure to give it a try for lunch or dinner as well.

My wife, young son, and I went to Route 66 for dinner tonight and it was great. My wife loved the Drew Bree’s breakfast and I highly recommend the Duane purvis burger. Our server was very friendly and prompt.

I tried one more time. This morning they where busy but not that busy they couldn’t analogy that be with able to take order in few minutes. Again the person setting people down could have taken drink order. Nothing for 5 minutes. I went to christos got sat down order taken and drink in few minutes. Not going back to 66.

Great food! Friendly and fast service. Enjoyed décor. They have mugs and nostalgic candy for sale. Definitely our new stop on our trips to Ohio.

This is the sister restaurant to Triple XXX — same menu, prices and delicious greasy spoon food, but has a better(in my opinion) ambiance(tables as well as counter seating, plus more space and a less dated interior), much shorter wait times, and is conveniently located closer to our house. Unlike Triple XXX, they take credit cards. I’ve only had breakfast here(and at Triple XXX) but there’s nothing I don’t like about it. The Drew Brees(eggs, potatoes, chicken fried steak and grilled biscuits) is especially good.

Over the past year we have dined here about a handful of times. The food is always good, not great but for the area it is good. Try the Drew Brees for breakfast. You won’t leave hungry. But this last weekend I was delighted by how the staff considered the safety of their staff and customers by not allowing a highchair to be placed in a walkway. This always annoys me at other establishments. The staff has always treated us like old friends. Get there early as they can be very packed for breakfast.

My husband and I go here pretty often. It’s not the best diner food I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty good and is also inexpensive. Their milkshakes are delicious! A lot of the items are a la cart, so you can customize your meal. For example, the breakfast sandwiches have options of a few different meats and cheeses and are without a side, so you can order and combination of sides you want. Their menu is expansive, but we have only ever ordered breakfast items. The service here is really friendly and will remember you after you drop by a few times. On weekends it can get a little crazy after noon, but even then we are seated within 20 minutes and the service doesn’t suffer.

I have to disagree with lesser reviews of this restaurant because I could eat there at least twice daily. The breakfast menu is so wonderfully varied that you can eat light or like a lumberjack if you choose. The biscuits and gravy are really good which is a litmus test for any restaurant that serves breakfast. The chili is classic good diner chili and the burgers, whatever kind you get with whatever condiments, are amazing. The owners are good, kind, charitable people, which wouldn’t matter if the food wasn’t so doggone good.

I just moved to West Lafayette and I’ve already been here like 6 times. It’s great. They make really good hashbrowns and the staff is super friendly. I’ve only been for breakfast but I’ve heard their burgers are good as well.

I have been to this place quite a few times, and unfortunately it seems like playing roulette when you go, sometimes the food can be quite delicious and other times it is disappointing enough that I swear off of them for awhile. Most recent instance was the complete botching of grilled cheese. The bread was not grilled barely toasted, thes cheese had just barelt melted, and this is over three bucks a sandwich for that. The other infuriating factor is the lack of free refills on soda… if you are going to charge over two bucks for a large fountain drink, you should be able to get a refill on said soda too.

Better for dinner. I had the Purvis burger, again, and it did not disappoint. My wife got the tenderloin and LOVEDIT!

Tasty food, friendly waitstaff, old timey feel. Breakfast all day. We hadn’t ever been here before and stopped in based on the other Unilocal reviews, and I’m incredibly glad we did.

I started a Unilocal account so that I could give this review. When I was considering locations for my baby shower I will admit this wasn’t my first idea. When it was suggested I thought hey good food, fun vibe, why not? When we first contacted the the staff I was welcomed with open arms! I expected a reservation and a few tables set aside but they did so much more! I was in contact with the general manger and the owner who worked directly with me and the host to make everything we could wish for come true! When we arrived the day of the shower they had an adorable chalkboard set up with our parties name and helped us set up balloons, and other decorations. Everyone was so nice and inviting everyone raved about how friendly the staff was, a few members even help my mother in law carry some of her gifts in! Above and beyond doesn’t say enough.

Great local diner! Perfectly cooked eggs every time we come. Fast service, friendly staff. Portions are good-sized, not annoyingly large. Haven’t tried anything but breakfast yet, but the other menu choices look really good. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Triple XXX’s slightly more sophisticated big sister. I have stopped in here several times, and I am always pleased I have. I tend to always think of this place as an offshoot of Triple XXX, but this place is much more than that. Sure you have the standard burgers, fries and shakes on the menu(delicious by the way), but there is so much more. Here you’ll find a menu that is sure to please everyone in your family. From your weird gluten free cousin to your picky chicken tenders loving little brother, you’ll find something on the menu. They don’t list their menu online, but trust me there is some yummy stuff here. Recently I was drooling over a wrap with turkey and avocado! Milkshakes are off the chain here people. These really taste like the homemade milkshakes you grew up with– none of that fast food«chocolate» stuff. I recently enjoyed a chocolate milkshake here that was amazing. So simple yet classically delicious. However, I wish there was a smaller option available– I had to order a 16 oz milkshake and leave half. Maybe you can split with a friend if you aren’t in the mood for a big shake.

This was one of the best experiences of my life! Great food and such a variety! The service was stupendous! And the prices were reasonable considering their quality of food and smiles! My server was absolutely delightful. I have to say this place is my favorite restaurant in Indiana. I suggest the Purvis which is their famous burger with peanut butter and onion rings and a large Oreo marshmallow shake! Go here! You won’t be disappointed! Ps. Weekends are super busy so get ready to wait for amazing food!(And a table)

Peanut Butter on a burger= GENIUS. The shakes and root beer floats are great too! of course always with a side of sweet potato fries :) I hate when I read reviews and see people saying its too expensive or comparing the food to mc donalds. You are supporting small family business here! The food is very decently priced!

If you love triple XXX food but you don’t like the cleanliness of the building then this is the place for you. Exact same menu but a much cleaner facility and super friendly staff. From breakfast to burgers to their world famous root beer you can’t go wrong
