The Kids’ Dentist

With two young children (3 & 7), I wanted a dentist who was an expert in the field of pediatric dentistry. Dr. Yip and his team have gone above and beyond to provide expert care for our daughters. I would highly recommend Dr. Yip!

I was nervous about taking my 2.5 year old there as I know he HATES to have me helping him brush his teeth & fishing in his mouth. I knew the appointment may not be that effective and go that well but wanted to make sure I was proactive and got him into the dentist. He did AMAZING, Dr. Yip and his team were very explanatory and were kid friendly and explained things in kid fashion. My son choose the «chocolate» toothpaste for the cleaning and they kept telling him we need to put chocolate in your mouth & to «kiss the straw» for suction etc., they related and made him feel so comfortable he did everything they needed him to do and the appointment turned out fabulous, the added picture of him in the chair was a bonus since I was in the chair with him and wasn’t able to get any photos. We already have our next 6 month appointment set. Thanks Dr. Yip and team!

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr Yip! The littles are always asking if it’s time for a check up and hate to leave when they’re done. The staff is always helpful and very friendly. Highly recommend.

Best Kids Dentist Ever! My son has had intense dental issues since he was 10 months old, Dr Yipp has taken care of him for 7 yes now. My daughter is now 2 and learning all about going to the dentist! When I was younger I was fearful of the dentist… My kids look forward to going to see Dr Yipp! as a mom I couldn’t be more happy about their dental care!

Granted my kids haven’t seen any other dentist, but I have to say this place is awesome! I really do wish I had a dentist like this when I was a kid!
Growing up, I was one of those tragic stories of patients whose dentist pulled perfectly healthy teeth just so he could charge our insurance. I grew up hating my dentist or anything to do with teeth in general. Now to my amazement, my kids LOVE going to the dentist. There are tons of games for them to play, toys, movies playing in every corner — I sometimes have a hard time taking them home. Not to mention the cool animals (chameleon, fish, gecko) that always make my kids ask for a pet. (My answer is still a firm no).
The staff is excellent, especially Dr Yip. He’s goofy with the kids and can talk to them about kid stuff so earns their trust quickly. He also seems to make an effort to hire folks who genuinely enjoy being around kids. We see familiar faces every time we come in so the kids are definitely comfortable now. And when they were new and nervous, the staff was very patient and kind. Both kids even had procedures done (preventative fillings on each) which I thought would traumatize them, but they did great! The staff was very gentle, and super quick. They do fabulous work.
My kids always look forward to going to the dentist, so I will definitely be bringing in baby #3 as a new patient once she’s ready. I would absolutely recommend this place!

My kids love The Kids Dentist! The staff is all super friendly. Everything in the office is geared towards kids. They have awesome décor and lots of toys and games to entertain the kids while they wait. They always make my kids feel comfortable and they always look forward to their appointments. Dr. Yip is one of the best pediatric dentists around:)

We have been going to this office for about three years. First off, Dr. Yip’s office staff is the best– all of them from the front office staff to the gals working with the kids on their teeth. My boys (6 & 8) always look forward to coming to their appointments (even if it is a cavity). The cost and billing have always been very upfront, and I like that I don’t feel pressured to get everything that needs to be done right away. Dr. Yip’s model works, and he is a very nice man who also has younger kids. We will be going there till the kids are too big and no longer need a pediatric dentist.

Best dentist for kids in the portland metro area. We have tried several and our kids actually look forward to going to the dentist. As crazy as that seems its true. Do yourself a favor and give them a try!

Due to a friend’s recommendation, we first visited Dr. Yip when our 3 year old son turned 1. We have always found the office staff, dental assistants and dentist to be a delight to work with and my son talks happily of his visits to the dentist months after the fact. The parents and children we have met in the waiting room have always been happy customers. We highly recommend this dental office.

The staff here and Dr. Yip saved us from a scary dental experience elsewhere. From the first call back (fast) through each visit our treatment was careful, professional and exactly what was needed. Dr. Yip took X-​rays and did an exam on my 4 year old without any problems– he took the time to review the X-​ray (which the other dentist I went to for her didn’t even X-​ray just gave me an estimate) — he showed me what was priority to take care of and explained what was more cosmetic. He is very non-​threatening to the kids, and patient. He showed me where her adult teeth were (cool to see) and got her fillings done in two efficient visits. His dental assistant was great and they are just firm enough but kind to keep your child safe during the procedure. They have movies, scented nitrous and blankets for «during» and prizes and encouragement for after. They gave me an easy to read itemized estimate mate (about half the cost as the other place leaving us room for any other needs for the plan year) –they listed both fillig options (we did white). Oh and months later the front desk called to confirm my address for a refund check because insurance paid more than expected-​honest Folks! Worth the drive!

Hands down the best children’s Dentist EVER. I have a high anxiety kiddo and we were referred to Dr. Yip because he brings in an anesthesiologist to help those kids who are very afraid of the Dentist. Of course, as a Mom I was very afraid of my daughter being put under for dental work. Not only did Dr. Yip help my kiddo without anesthesiology, she left smiling, saying, «He’s the best DENTIST ever and I didn’t feel afraid once!» I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Yip and his team!

I am not going to be contacting your office. Yes, my son was a patient of yours for about 1.5 years back in 06 – 07. This was a few years back so I can hope your office has changed for the better. I am sorry you feel the need to say my story is untrue. I just do not want to deal with your office as we have a wonderful relationship with his dentist now, Dr. Pike.

We have been going to see Dr. Yip for about a year and have not had any issues. The office is clean and modern. The kids enjoy the toys, video games and reptiles. The Dr and staff seemed very attentive. All in all a relatively good experience until now.
My 4 year old had to have a couple of cavaties filled so we separated into 2 appts. Seeing as this was her first in depth dental procedure needless to say the intial appt was difficult to say the least. She was super scared and had a hard time especially with the nitrous (which we opted out of) and the mouth prop (which we ended up doing without). After a very long visit we finally made it through and scheduled her followup to complete. Upon arriving for her second visit a different assistant came out to review the plan and during that time I noticed a comment on my daughters chart in caps and highlighted stating the following «The Most Horrible Op». I was a little floored by the comment not because I didn’t agree but because it seemed very unprofessional to write a comment like that in a chart. My major concern was now my daughter was labeled as a «problem child» and would be treated «differently» for any other appts we had there. Fortunately she made it through the second appt with flying colors (According to Dr. Yip, as I didn’t sit in on the appt because I thought my daughter would do better without me within eyeshot, they did employ a little bit different techniques to help her. Quieter drill and different mouth opening techniques). She didn’t cry and was all in all a good patient but now it was too late. Normally I would have probably just let the comment slide but in retrospect thinking back to the initial appt I could see the frustration in the assistants face and mannerisms and I wish I would have just ended the appt and not upset my daughter so much.
Sadly I hate moving dentists but I am just not willing to worry every time I take my kids in that they are being talked about or treated differently because of one time when my 4 year old acted like a 4 year old.
I will say Dr Yip did follow up and let me know that he met with his staff to review, I just hope other patients have not been «commented» about like this in what I view as such a mean and hurtful way as to cause others to form unnecessary opinions. Granted this is a possibility in any practice I unfortunately experienced here though.
I strongly suggest all parents review their charts as well as their childrens to completey understand the level of care they are given. This does not only hold true for Dr. Yip’s office but of any medical/​dental provider.
When asked why I rated the office a 2 the ratings guide stated a 2 as «Meh. I’ve experienced better» which I have. While a 3 is «A-​Ok» which obviously I am not «A-​Ok.»

We moved to Oregon 4 years ago and were recommended this office through a friend of a relative. We have three kids ranging in ages from 21 months-​6 years. All have been in to see Dr. Yip and his staff. They have been in for routine cleanings and just recently my oldest had to have sealants placed. We have been very satisfied with the care we received. They find it so much fun to go the dentist’s office and get special prizes afterwards. They really do make it a friendly place and the support staff is wonderful. Living in West Linn ourselves, we are especially pleased to see his office so active in the community, sponsoring events like Music in the Park, Santa Brunch, etc, to name a few.
