Price Self Storage

Customer service here is horrible!!! First they charge you for a protection plan when I already have homeowners insurance which covers my belongings. Then after I had already made my reservation for a closer unit, I get there to only have my unit far from the reservation location issued to me. Then as I am speaking with the manager regarding the «protection plan» one of the employees tells me that I should just take my business elsewhere. I asked him did he just advise me to take my business elsewhere and he replied yes, if you’re not happy. LOL I was like really??? It’s already dark and I had already called around to find a better and closer storage facility and my wife’s furniture is on the U-​Haul truck that needs to be returned as well. Trust me, I would have!!!
Today, I’m returning emails from yesterday and saw I had an email with my invoice for the month. We notice that there is a $ 30 late fee. Call in to speak with someone regarding the late fee and to pay the bill. The lady advised me that they several messages on my voicemail to contact them regarding my bill. I advised them that I have yet to check my emails due to us just getting back into the country from our honeymoon. The lady basically said oh well we called and there’s nothing that can be done. Mind you the only reason we have a few things in storage is because we consolidated households and room is being made in my garage. But we need it for a few months so it is what it is. I asked, how I was supposed to return a call that I never knew about while we were out of the country? I asked if the fees could be waived as a courtesy and was told no because they contacted me to advise me that a payment was due. I was like really, even though we weren’t even in the country? Can we get a break considering we were out of the country? We haven’t been late and even paid early last month. The Mgr. replied stating we didn’t pay early last month that it was due on the 23^rd and we paid on the 19^th –_​– LOL I’m no rocket scientist, but I would lay my life down convinced that paying on the 19^th is considered to be early when a bill isn’t due until the 23^rd!!! I was totally outdone. Need I say more?
Update: As I’m writing this review, I get a call from Ryan, I believe he said he was GM. I went over the sequence of events with him and he stated he was going to waive the late fees as a onetime courtesy. That’s all I wanted and this could have been avoided. Thanks again Ryan!
Why does a situation need to go this far for «Customer Service» to kick in??? The first 2 ladies I spoke with weren’t sympathetic or empathetic. The impression I got from the both of them was, uhuh yeah, yeah, pay me!!! We tried to contact you and you are late. I could see if we were deadbeats with paying our bill, but for the first time being late and it being the Holidays when most people aren’t in town… Customer service was definitely missed in this ordeal.

Came here with a friend a while back who does a lot of conventions and trade shows. He had a ton of stuff to store and I helped lug most of his stuff here. Staff was friendly and Janet was very thorough with the breakdown of their services. I don’t have much stuff to store, but if I did I’d definitely check them out. The prices seemed reasonable and the facilities were clean.

I just completed a migration from Public Storage – where I was a 20 year customer – to this Price Self Storage facility and I could not be happier. Their facility is immaculate, safe, and high quality, and most importantly, their STAFF is fantastic. There is a rental office that is always staffed by multiple people, every one of them knowledgeable and professional, and they couldn’t be nicer. I was assisted by four different people during the process of considering different spaces at and renting my space: Nick, Janet, Judith, and Sergio. ALL FOUR of these people were extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with. To me, that kind of consistency in quality customer service is impressive, and makes me happy to bring my business to Price.

I think this place is terrific. It’s spotless. It’s well lit and has good security. I used them for a couple of years and everyone of the staff was professional and accommodating that I dealt with. I personally can’t say enough about the staff or the facility. I no longer need a storage facility, but if I do again in the future, I’d use them again in a heartbeat. They were great.

I work as an interior stylist/​interior designer. I had the need for a large space to warehouse furniture for about a week during our photo shoot.
I had the miraculous pleasure to have worked with Shylo Byard /​Assistant Manager at the Price Storage on 3430 S. La Brea in West LA. 90 016.
Shylo was more than accommodating and even came in early a few days so that we could load our trucks each day for the location shoot. All with a very sweet demeanor.
We rented the large 12 X 25′ space and were immediately allowed to download and keep moving. I already had 2 other units at the same location and chose Price once again as it was centrally located to our different locations each day
Without Shylo’s help, the job would not have been the success it was.

The staff are really helpful and super friendly. Shylo is always willing to answer any of my question or concerns and they do a great job of keeping this facilty clean. I highly recommend this place!

Horrendous. Not much experience with storage units. I imagine they are all rackets, move your stuff in and then you are stuck. But this one has bad customer service, but why would it need to be good. They hold all your stuff. Look around first.

I’ve been using this facility for 3 years. The rate has gone up 50% in that time consistently every six months. They send out a postcard every 6 months saying «despite there philosophy of minimizing the amount and frequency of increases, a rental increase is necessary at this time.» This comes like clockwork every 6 months. I have a difficult time understanding in what world a storage facilities expenses go up 50% in 3 years. I’ve called the last 3 times (year and half) and complained each time. They say they will pass it on, but nobody has ever called me back. If you plan on using this place for more than 6 months, I would look elsewhere. There philosophy is very different than what they state. Based on my 3 year experience, there actual philosophy to make as much money on each unit as they possibly can once you are there. They are nice when you are moving in. Not so nice once you’ve moved in.

I’ve been using their services for almost 3 years, I came back to LA just to find out that a rat or rats ate all my books, towels, bed sheets and boxes, I’ve been paying for a protection plan that doesn’t cover rodents, if a plane crashed on the building that’s cover but something more common like rats is not…
I made a complaint to the person in charge and she pretty much called me a liar, not only she was extremely rude, she tried to blame me, she pretended I was lying until i showed her the pictures and her reaction was even worst, «we don’t have rats here, and we are not responsible for your damage»
BTW, The rat is pretty much alive, it came out of my unit as soon as I opened it.

My best friend and I and also my mother have had probably 7 or 8 different units there and up to 5 at a time since at least 2008. We have since moved out of LA and rental associate JANETH was very, very helpful in assisting our final move-​out. Very efficient, friendly and personable, she is the type of person that a company should have dealing with customers. Price has a great policy of calling customers to give them a friendly reminder that their rent is coming due. I would recommend Price to friends and business associates. The other girls in the office have also always been very friendly and professional.

Ryan, the district manager of Price, personally called me to apologize and make amends for an experience that I had. He offered to comp my storage for the month.
I really appreciate this gesture. It speaks volumes as to how Price does value their customers. It shows great hospitality and great business!

I happened to have a conversation with the manager soon after posting my review. I have to say that I was impressed by the concern that was conveyed about my unpleasant experience. This was a good sign of good customer service. He informed me that their employees are being trained to give clear explanations of the rate hikes outlined in their contract. He explained the reason behind the rate hikes. He also informed me that I signed my contract right before they started instituting the more than once a year rate hikes. All of this information was extremely helpful.
Unfortunately, the information that I posted prior about the systematic rate hikes is still true. So, just be informed when you consider renting here. I continue to hold my opinion that this facility is good for short-​term only due to the systematic rate hikes.

Recently moved here due to my old facility closing, and the staff here has been awesome. They’ve been friendly and have readily answered any questions I’ve had. A well run place, from the top down.
And the access is unique in that you can drive up in a completely covered building.

Excellent facility with a very attentive and professional staff… competitive prices as well.

If it were possible to give this location zero stars I would. The level of indifference is uncanny. Rochelle does not care… Do not be fooled and Ryan is worse. He can stay on the phone with you and explain things but he could not care less about the rate at which they are increasing prices. Customer service sucks. They absolutely will not get back to you when they say they will. The market is thriving… So therefore the explain they need to increase prices. Instead they raise the prices on customers and use deceptive practices to reel you in. I am not stuck. I will not be trapped. I have options and I will exercise them. This location used to be a rat free safe and customer friendly environment. All that is changed. The biggest rats are the humans to pretend to care about the customers. I am disgusted with the level of shadiness that goes on here. Absolutely do not bother calling in for any help you need to understand that they just don’t care you don’t matter. Keep it moving. I hate shady people

It’s the worst coustemer service I ever had the worst ppls I could ever meet… I’m very unsatesfied… they gave me to wait an hour without any results… and over charged me… never do business with this guys… they tried to charge me 50 $ to get in they used me and my money… the only reason I’m putting 1 star it’s because I have to put something and if I’m not putting its not giving me the option to publish… don’t go with them…

UPDATE: So I just got a phone call from Ryan, the district manager for Price Self Storage, and he very nicely and professionally asked if he could answer any questions, after having seen my review.
He did point out that the rate increase was only 6%, not 14%, as that number included the «protection plan» that I had signed up for ($ 8/​mo).
We talked about the rental market in LA and he explained a few things, which was very helpful. I did mention to him that I should have been told upon signing up that there are two mandatory rate increases per year, but then again, that’s somewhat of a deterrent. That’s the storage market for you, I guess.
So, not crooks.
And he held off this rate increase until the next round of increases as a measure of goodwill.

I’ve been with Price storage for about a year now. I REALLY love this facility it’s nice and clean. Rochell and Chelser are AWESOME. On my first day there Rochell was such a great help she showed me around the facility and answered all my questions I had. I really appreciate GREAT customer service from these 2 ladies :)

Rochell is a really genuine friendly, caring person who does want to help whenever she is able. Ryan is also a very savy reasonable business person, who understands the value of customer service. I just signed up for a unit and have very high expectations for customer service. If my first meeting is reflective of how they are long term, I would say they definitely meet my expectations. Security, pests, and customer service are the most important factors for me, and I was assured none would be an issue.
Public Storage in Culver City has very disjointed management, unorganized systems, and when I came by (since they never called me back), I found my unit was cancelled and they tried to charge me a higher rate. This included all the managers that the woman called when I stood there for 45 minutes. Next to us was another unit owner who was filing a report bc their unit was broken in to, and supposedly 2 other units were broken in to. This is all based on what I overheard, but the customer service alone was not enough. The managers were supposedly regional, so I didn’t even bother to call other Public Storages.
Going back to Price, the location is convenient just off the 10 freeway, central. The unit does have open tops, but you are allowed to cover it within your unit. There are security cameras, and pest control every two weeks. (I have a paralytic fear of roaches.) You can actually drive into the warehouse with a secure code, which makes loading/​unloading very convenient, and they offer use of a free truck/​driver within 15 miles. There is a mandatory insurance program so just be sure to add that to your price when budgeting for your size/​unit.

My experience was very positive.
I looked around and needed a storage unit that was close to my home. I found Price and initially had concerns about the location.
I called and spoke to a woman named Delilah Johnson.
Delilah put my concerns at ease and invited me down to tour the facility.
When I arrived I was greeted by her with a welcoming smile.
I was pleasantly surprised by how secure and clean the place was.
i was most impressed by Delilah’s professionalism.
i only needed the unit for a short time and when I gave my notice Delilah showed the same amount of professionalism.
If and when I need a storage facility in the future I will definitely go back to price.
