I had some appointment with another dread salon but because of the slow response and unprofessionalism I quickly cancelled my appointment (they weren’t slow on responding to reschedule…) and found Hayden!

Below that is what she did to my boyfriends dreads
1. She understands the importance of dread maintenance
During the time she was fixing my boyfriend’s dreads, she was really knowledgable about dreads; washing them, residue, what’s a mature dread, interlocking, and etc.
It was awesome that at the same time she was fixing the dreads that I gained a lot of information about dreads in general.
2. IF YOU ARE BOOKING HER GO TO HER WEBSITE!
I can’t stress this enough but it helps her A LOT more if you went on her website, rather than call her, and fill out the questionnaires about the type of dreads you have/​want like I did.
Think about it how is she supposed to answer the questions you have about your dreads if she doesn’t have a photo to base it off of.
Plus her website probably could answer most of the generic questions about dreads if you take the time to read it.
3. She’s AMAZING
To be honest, my boyfriend and I brought our computers because we had a 4.5 hour session and we didn’t know how the situation would go. We thought she would just work on the dreads and we would do our own thing.
THANK GOD she’s so nice, friendly, and open. Everything she says is interesting to the point where it did not feel like 3.5 hours at all. Seriously she’s just awesome, so stop reading and book her already!

My boyfriend started his dreads at home with his cousins without any professional help.
So I though that I’d surprise him as a Late Birthday/​Early Christmas with a professional dread maintenance.
First thing she emailed me was to have him wash his hair in a CHEAP, cause you know I’m a broke college student, but helpful shampoo the day before he comes in. (If you want to know what it is and why he had to do that, ask her yourself!!)
The main things she fixed was
–to separate all the dreads from each other
–created a more solid foundation
–reattached a dread (it looked like it was about to fall off)
–combined two dreads into one
If you’re interested in any of this, then book her!
She did an incredible job on everything and you know I’m telling the truth because I’ve never written a review this long before. ^^

TLDR: Get your dreads done/​maintained at West LA Dreads; Hayden is the best at her craft!
Once I made the decision to finally get dreads, I wanted them right away. I was so close to just visiting the closest salon to my house. Then I started doing more and more research. And I realized I wanted them done the correct & proper way. I’m so glad I found Hayden at West LA Dreads!
We scheduled an appointment in October, but it kept getting pushed back because she got really sick and had other family business to handle. I did not mind waiting because I knew it would be well worth it after reading her success stories. It gave me time to prepare my scalp, grow my hair, and practice patience (which is a must with dreads).
Her communication is super helpful and on point (even though I’m the worst at responding to text messages). Nice location right next to an elementary school. It is helpful to arrive early and find parking so you don’t have to worry about getting a ticket.
When I got to her place, I was invited inside by a woman and I said to myself, «she looks way older than the pictures». But then I found out it was just the cleaning lady. Right away I knew Hayden had a very busy schedule and her time is of the essence. On top of that, she has to take care of 2 kids. The 3 year old didn’t have a sitter that day, so Hayden had to attend to her every so often. It was fine because Hayden stopped the timer each time she got off my hair to do the usual mommy things. It was actually quite entertaining. Kids are so fun especially when you don’t have any of your own. Her daughter Sienna is so cute and funny.
As we went through the process we shared stories about life, our hobbies & interests, relationships, past lives (or maybe I was just thinking about that one myself) — it was great because we’re very similar! Her 8 year old son even makes cool art. You can tell art/​creativity is already encouraged in the family. I wish I had that when I was a kid.
Hayden is a hard working mother with a creative soul and ambitious spirit. Being the eldest of her siblings, it’s already instilled in her to look out for others. You will totally feel well taken care of when in the presence of Hayden. If she ever takes time off (which she rarely does), she definitely deserves it. Big ups to moms like Hayden who get shit done!
My dreads are still babies right now, so I’ll post pics after about a month or so. I’ll definitely be back for maintenance or just to say «Hi!» She could definitely use an intern or extra assistant and I would do that for free if I had more time. Go to Hayden at West LA Dreads! You will be happy you did. I know I am. I feel like I’ve made a life long friend.

I found west LA dreads on Unilocal.It is the one with best reviews, so I thought I’ll just give it a shot. I’m Asian and I have very silky, thick straight hair. But Hayden makes it look super cool. I never thought my hair would be dreaded that well. She uses crocheting method, so I love the idea that there’s no chemical in my hair. She’s very nice, helpful, talented and patient. She will pay attention to what you want and make it possible. I still go to her for my maintenance sessions and I’m loving the results. My hair is locking well overtime through these maintenance sessions and good care suggested by Hayden. You can ask her everything about dreadlocks. She’s so well informed and would be happy to help you. I’m so glad that I chose west LA dreads. 5 stars for Hayden!

Hayden is amazing! My dreads are almost 2 months old and still look great, with no product used making them or in maintenance. Throughout the session Hayden discussed dreadlocks and had a wealth of information. She also had a very positive energy and was a pleasure to spend the time with as she deadlocked my hair.

I’ve never done dreads in myself but, if I did, this would be the place. I love Jennifer she is awesome! Her work speaks for itself and her dedication to her craft is immeasurable. Go see her if you want amazing locks!

Hayden is amazing! Ive been to other loctitions and she’s the ONLY person Ill let touch my hair. Completely transformed my dreads. She’s also very thorough. full of information when it comes to caring for your locks. Worth the hour drive :)

I had my dreads put in nearly a month ago and have wanted to see how they have held up before leaving a review… let me tell you, I COULDN’T BE HAPPIER.
When you sit in Hayden’s chair it is obvious that you are in the care of an expert. Her awareness of how to pattern your dreads makes for a beautiful and super appealing hair style. She is very thorough, and although the process takes time, it is well worth it.

So it’s been about a month and a half and my dreads are looking great! I have a lot of hair so I spent a good amount of time with Hayden. We talked the entire time and her knowledge in dreads is extensive.
Whether you’re looking to get dreads today or just doing some research, I recommend you calling her. Great work on my dreads but more importantly a great person!

On top of being knowledgable and obviously well-​versed in her craft, Hayden is also so warm and friendly. She is definitely the one to go to for starting dreadlocks off the right way!
She uses a natural crochet method so your dreads are strong and healthy. I came in for maintenance on a couple dreads I had already, and she made a few more new dreads that I absolutely love! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Hayden is the best! I have had dreads for over 10 years and needed maintenance badly! She hooked me up and did a fabulous job. She is very good at her craft and my roots are nice and tight and tidy! After a month of travels and keeping my hair up in a bun, swimming in salt water, etc my hair was a knotted DISASTER.
I found Hayden and even though she’s booked through August she fit me in and saved my life.
I can’t say enough about her.
While I’m not in the dread community we went through photos of what she does and she explained the care she takes this is her art and she’s awesome at it. She’s definitely above the dread norm and I can’t suggest her enough.

Hayden is so great at what she does and so nice! When I came to Hayden I was in desperate need of some dread help! After looking for a new place for maintenance, I found West La Dreads and couldn’t have been happier to find someone who uses the crochet technique.
I had done my dreads and dread extensions myself and had also gone to one place in LA for maintenance. They just put string in my hair and they said it would bring the hair together over time and then just absorb into the dread or fall off (which neither happened!) My dreads weren’t locking up and had so much residue stuck in them! So I started fresh… We took out my old dreads (which was pretty easy since they weren’t locked) Hayden crocheted all new dreads and added extensions to them. I am BEYOND happy with the result and am so much happier with my dreads now!

Hayden is extremely nice, helpful, and good at what she does. I felt bad having to go back and forth with her in the beginning to schedule my appt because I had such a specific time frame, but she was super sweet and accommodating throughout it all!
I came in for maintenance (I did my dreads myself and after 3 years of basically free-​form, they were super frizzy and had lots of loose hairs). Hayden was super agile with her fingers and able to fix the mess on my head. For the first time I had tight dreads at the root and I felt like Predator! haha. I was able to buy the hard-​to-​find tiny crochet hook off of her too so I could keep it up myself.
All-​in-​all, I would highly recommend Hayden to people with any sort of dreadlock need. She knows how to do it the right way, without product or unhealthy knots.

After years of wanting dreadlocks I figured that as a graduation present to myself I would have someone put them in. I did a quick Unilocal search and found West LA Dreads. I really didn’t know much about the whole process other than that I didn’t want to use any products like wax. So Hayden being against that made me feel pretty good about calling her up.
The day before I was supposed to get the dreads put in I got a call from a deathly ill Hayden and she asked if there was any chance I could move my appointment. Unfortunately for the both of us I couldn’t because I was leaving LA to head back to Oakland. Fortunately she was feeling better the next day although still sick. She spent the next 6 hours doing my hair and finished up the next day on the other 4 hours. After all that work I got really nicely sectioned dreads and a little crochet hook so I could do a little maintenance. Really happy and wish I lived closer so I could go to her for maintenance.

I’ve had dreads for about 13 years. I maintain them mostly myself, but sometimes you just need someone to really get in there and do it for ya. Hayden was great. Punctual, friendly and professional. I enjoyed the work she did on my dreads and will return there in the future. Thanks Hayden for your work :)

If you are in any of the western states, do yourself a favor and come to West LA Dreads! Hayden is amazing! She goes out of her way to make her clients feel comfortable! Hayden uses the crochet hook method without any product so there isn’t any sticky mess in your hair. Just beautiful natural dreads! I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my little dread babies!

Definitely the best place to get dreaded. My girl friend had been looking into getting dreads for a while. We even checked out places but no one was as helpful as Hayden from west LA dreads. We set up an appt and i gotta say my gf was the happiest.
She has now had her dreads for 7 months and they are beautiful. She had an issue with a dread that was made by a previous locktician that thinned out and came off. HAYDEN re-​attached it. She is GREAT! I reccomend her 100%. She is efficient helpful and does a great job.

Hayden is very good with the crochet hook. She does not use wax or any other product in your hair. She is able to even out inconsistencies of older dread work as well as form the root area cleanly. I will come to her again.
