Mr Sullivan is the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with, he is rude and extremely unhelpful. I would never hire him for any job after dealing with him! Go else where and save yourself the aggravation.

It has been an ongoing since May of 2012. I like everyone else received several estimates to replace the access window that leads out to our roof deck. And as some, I thought Frank was a trust worthy guy who seemed to know what he was doing. He stated he had been in the business for many years and his knowledge of the brownstones in the city seemed to be right on point. Frank informed us that he would order the access window through a separate company and that as soon as it was ready his crew would be by to install it. He sent us a quote with specifics of what would be done. We sent our deposit in and within a few weeks the window was ready. His foreman came by to install the access window while Frank sat outside in his truck, never coming in to inspect installation. Toward the end of the install I looked at the new window and the width was 4 inches less than what was stated in the quote. When I asked about the measurement I was told that yes it was smaller, but that this is window that came in. When I asked him why he would knowingly install a window smaller than what was specified, he then told me that this is what Frank told him to do. When I then contacted Frank, I was told that the company had already put a curb on the window and then Franks «guys’ put a second curb on without knowing.
He came to the house shortly after that to inspect the measurements, stating that this was not his fault. Again, never once taking responsibility. As for his foreman, he knowingly installed the wrong window and could have cared in the least.
The second window was installed and it was clear that again it was a sloppy installation with very little consideration toward quality of work and outcome. Shingles were lifting when the door was opened. The seams on the window were buckled. When I asked if the seams could be smoothed out and made even, random nails were hammered in making it worse than it was. I was then asked for final payment prior to Frank’s foreman leaving my house. Frank was not on site but within 5 minutes I received a phone call from Frank asking for final payment. When I stated that I would not send a final payment without a final bill, and full inspection from my boyfriend he stated that he would expect final payment as soon as possible now that the job was complete.
With the first rainfall after the second installation the access window leaked all day and night. The rain was coming from under the seam of the window. We took photos and video of the leak and sent them to Frank. He then came by again to inspect where the leak had come from. He blamed it on shingles that were there that must have been «wearing down», never once taking responsibility for two horrible installations and poor work. When I asked about the flashing I was told that the window came with flashing and then they installed a second flashing over that. With such redundancy you would think I would never have to worry about a leak again.
It has been leaking ever since.

They installed a new exterior door at our place last year. I had difficulty getting a quote and ordering the door with other companies, and Mr. Sullivan ordered the door we chose and for the price we anticipated. However, he never called when he said he would and never came when he said he would. His crew was seriously late for the job, and when I called to see where they were (as I took a morning off work), he said he did not have a helicopter, if he did, he would have gotten his people on time at my house (!). Dealing with Mr. Sullivan was a hassle.

Newton Exteriors Has done work on both my home in Acton and My place in Buzzards Bay. They installed all new windows and doors in Acton and also did my Master Bath and Kitchen. Even after a leak after hours Frank’s plumber came out to my house to correct it. The cape they ripped my roof off including the plywood and rebuilt the whole thing I was very pleased with the price and the work.

From 2009 to 2010

I used this company back in 2002. I had several companies give me an estimate for roofing my house — a colonial with a main roof and a roof on both the front and back entryways. I chose Newton Exteriors not because they were the cheapest (they weren’t), but because Frank seemed to know what he was doing and seemed relatively trust-​worthy. I was wrong.
When they cut the roof for the ridge vent, they called it quits for the evening without covering it — leaving my house open to the elements. I spent the evening hoping we wouldn’t have any rain.
As they finished working I was asked for the final payment. When I asked why they hadn’t done the front roof as it was spelled out in the estimate, Frank informed me that the inclusion of the front roof was just a typo. That alone is enough to give Newton Exteriors the lowest ranking, but in addition to the «typo» in the estimate, the back roof began to leak after the first rain within the first few weeks. Frank informed me that the problem wasn’t with the roof, but with how the siding was installed. I asked him why it hadn’t leaked before the the roof was replaced. After a couple of back and fourths over the phone, Frank agreed to send someone over to correct the problem. In the meantime the drop-​ceiling in the room was extensively damaged by the leaking. After more conversations about fixing the damage, Frank agreed to replace the ceiling tiles. I have yet to see those replacement ceiling tiles — I gave up calling after a number of months calling every week.
Steer clear of this company (if they’re still even in business).
