Description

Specialties

Hospice is not a place, but rather a philosophy of care.

This care philosophy is one of true compassion and the belief that people have the right to make decisions regarding their lives and the type of healthcare they desire. Since 1978, we’ve offered the type of care where a patient’s healthcare wishes are heard and honored.

Because we are a not-for-profit, our services extend much farther than the basic Medicare benefit, from music therapy to clinical massage. We’re also one of only 4% of hospices IN THE NATION who can give discretionary admission for patients receiving non-curative chemotherapy, radiation, transfusions and IV medications.

Most importantly, because we are a not-for-profit, we offer 6 months of tender care to ANYONE who wants and is eligible for hospice care. We never turn someone away because of inability to pay.

Recent note: we were proud to receive the first Deyta Award for Quality of Care — one of the Top 100 hospices in the nation!

History

Established in 1978.

Hospice of Palm Beach County is the leading provider of hospice care in the community. We were founded shortly after the first hospice in America, and our C.W. Gerstenberg Hospice Unit was the first free-standing unit east of the Mississippi. Over the last 34 years, our medical staff have served more than 70,000 families. We are honored to have been a part of each of their lives.
