I loved the safari part of your park because of the way you guys treat the animals. But then I got to a walking part of a park and my heart broke.
Animals are caged just as in all the rest of the zoos. And what killed me is a POOR HUGE ALLIGATOR IN A BOX SIZE AQUARIUM. Come on. It looked so sad surrounded by millions of yelling kids that I thought he is about to either cry or die. Please respect him just like you respect the rest of your animals in the safari. He doesn’t deserve to be kept like this! I beg you for the love of Mother Nature

A must see when in South Florida. Best to go early in the morning or late afternoon when animals come out.

A truly great experience. The walking park was amazing! We will be back! Make sure to pet the goats a feed the giraffes! Two ladies in the concessions trailer were so nice! Make sure management gives them a high five. This truly is secret old school Florida! We had a ball! Something for each member of our family of five! Next time we will try to stay at the KOA!

My family attended (two adults and four year old). My four year old had a great time, which was only because he didn’t see how careless the owners are to take care of the planet that gave them such beautiful animals. A couple of the most basic examples (of many)… they give out plastic straws in all drinks (without asking if they’re wanted) and they don’t recycle. Our family had just visited the gumbo limbo nature center the day prior and plastic straws were high on the no no list! Then to come here and see them given out without any care… i never thought I’d be so upset about plastic straws but it just flys in the face of the very thing they say they value. Funny and sad at the same time.

I’ve been wanting to come to this place for years, it’s definitely worth the drive and the price for a first time visit. How many chances in your lifetime will you have to be inches from a white rhino?
We came as soon as they opened on a Sunday and it was a great experience. Not too many cars, we could take our time driving through without worrying about backing up the line. There are signs everywhere telling you, for your safety and the safety of the animals, to drive very slowly and to keep your windows closed. We definitely listened to the first rule, taking a lot of time in each drive through area and letting the animals cross the road in front of us. The second rule, keeping the windows closed, we listened to a degree — we didn’t try to bother the animals and we kept our hands in the car, but we did roll down the windows for a while with the more peaceful animals. No one bothered us, human or animal, but I can see it causing a problem if you don’t use common sense.
The lions are disappointing — do not come here expecting to see them very well. They are behind several fences and are far from the road. You see lions better in traditional zoos than here. Every other species was amazing, especially the rhinos. We were lucky enough to have a few cross the road near us. We were inches from them, it was the highlight of our trip.
After you drive through there is a whole zoo to walk through, though it is mostly geared toward toddlers with different experiences for young children. If I had a toddler, the yearly pass would be worth the price. Otherwise I can only see myself visiting when someone comes in town to visit or maybe once a year on my own. I did enjoy the petting zoo and feeding the giraffes.
This is a one of a kind experience, I don’t think there is anything else like it in the entire state, if not the southeast.

I used to come here a lot as a kid. I’ve even camped here numerous times with my Girl Scout troop growing up. I have so many great memories here that I can still remember. Fast forward many years later to today. I came here with my 5 year old son and boyfriend. It was originally $ 90 plus tax for the 3 of us but the lady asked us if we had a coupon, we didn’t and asked us if we had AAA. My boyfriend and I both use AAA and we were given a discount (wasn’t even asked for proof) and that took off $ 18 of our admission– awesome!
We drove through the safari and usually have an encounter at least with an ostrich pecking at our car but today we didn’t get much action. The animals all seemed to be very happy in their habitat and looked well fed and taken care of.
After our safari ride, we walked around the park and saw a few more animals, fed the fish, played some mini golf, and got some ice cream. My favorite part was feeding the giraffes. What a cool thing to offer! For $ 2.50 they give you 4 big leaves of lettuce to feed them and they come right up to you and grab the leaves from your hand ever so gently with their large purple tongues.
The entire staff here were very helpful and extremely nice. I love a place where employees show their pride for where they work by being helpful and genuinely friendly.
We all enjoyed our day here and will be back soon. Keep up the good work!

So much cool stuff to see in this drive thru safari, walk thru zoo and mini water park rolled into one! Designed mainly for children, but definitely fun for people of all ages.
Safari includes an informative CD that will tell you all about the animals as you’re driving through each area. Countless cool African animals to watch, but it doesn’t end there!
Walk-​through zoo area includes highlights such as giraffe feeding, an aviary and a petting zoo. Kid friendly activities and awesome photo ops are everywhere.
Bring your bathing suit! There’s a mini water park (for kids, really, but if I’d have remembered my suit there’d have been no stopping me.)
Cafeteria-​style eating area next to the gift shop includes some classic grab-​and-​go items as well as build your own sandwiches, burgers, pretzels and other classics. Oh, and beer too! Don’t expect quality food, but at least there’s a good variety.
Gift shop is mostly comprised of stuffed animals, but they have some other cool things available so it’s worth a looksee.
$ 33 for adults, $ 24 for kids and $ 7 for parking. Season passes are available as well. Both fun and informative, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Lion Country Safari is great for kids but not so much for teens/​adults.
For kids, you have a few small kid rides, water sprout (where kids can run around), water slide and animal shows. If you like wild life then this might be your cup of tea. The main attraction is the self tour that you do in your own car. Its a 10 — 20 mph zone (unless of they changed the rule) while you take your car and go around roads to see the animals. During special times of the year, the animals might not be out in public walking around or wondering around most of them sleep. After the self-​tour, you can then get off go inside the park buy merch, or even pay to self-​feed Giraffes lettuce from your hand.
Note: If you have a loud exhaust on your car, they may or may not let you in due to the fact that it will disturb the animals.

It’s a nice place to go see some unusual animals. It’s not cheap by the way, but we go there everytime we have people visiting from Italy.
A nice afternoon among nature and animal can’t hurt for the spirit. We do it once a year

Lions and Cars and Tourists! Oh My!
Where you are part of the fun, and the animals come to you seems a bit strange at first, but at Lion Country Safari, there is so much more than just the strange but awesome drive through experience. Yes, you do drive your own car through a flat land of lions, zebra, antelope, birds, rhino’s and so many other amazing wildlife, but once complete with the course, you park and then enter the park where more magic awaits.
We were there during winter break, which of course meant many families with children; and this park does cater well to them. There is a water park section, paddle boat rides, petting zoo areas, ice cream, and so much more for youngsters and older folks alike. I believe we thought we might be there for an hour or two and ended up staying close to four or five. There was that much to do and that much fun, even without children.
I enjoyed the layout and walk through of the park mostly as it was clean, inviting and really well kept. The staff who gave us a boat ride and helped us on and off the paddle boats were also very friendly and made us feel very welcomed. I cannot wait to go back and suggest giving Lion Country a try!

I really enjoyed the safari and the theme park.
The safari is a drive-​thru with your own vehicle and they provide a CD to listen with information about each area. I was actually a little nervous because I’ve seen all those videos of animals opening car doors and doing damage. This is a very safe safari. All the animals but the lions roam freely here. The lions are gated so it’s very safe. There are ostriches that do like to peck windows though but its more amusing than anything.
It was so amazing to see wildlife in an open environment where they can roam freely.
The theme park is free with a safari admission. A lot of the things require a payment though like rides and feeding the animals. There is a small ferry that’s free that goes around some islands with monkeys. There is a petting zoo with goats and an area to feed the giraffes.

My boyfriend took me through the safari part, which is the most fun section of this «zoo» type of attraction. It takes up about an hour of your day, which is just the perfect amount of time to be riding through a safe version of a safari before your butt starts to hurt haha. The animals roam around freely which makes you feel a closer connection with them. The only animals that are fenced in are the lions, which all look healthy and strong by the way! I hate seeing skinny animals but every single wild animal, whether it’s a beast or lion or giraffe, look very healthy and well taken care of! There are lots of babies you will see too, super cute.
The animals are not afraid to come up to your car, so be extra careful to keep your windows up, especially with ostriches haha. But every animal minds their own business, shows curiosity, and carries on their way peacefully.
We only went through the safari section because we felt like the other walk through section was only more entertaining for kids.

This place is very family friendly and great to bring the little ones and grandparents. For me, it was a let-​down. For starters, the older lady at the ticketing booth got impatient, raising her voice when we asked her a question; it was not the kind of start I was hoping for. The safari experience itself was sub par. If you’ve been to the Animal Kingdom safari, that one is far more superior and interactive. Here they give you a CD that explains all the animals as you enter each section of the park. The best animals were by far the ostriches, they would come up to your car and peck at the windows. Aside from that up-​close interaction with the animals, everything else we just appreciated from afar.
All the primates are put on islands and all the lions are fenced in, so rather than having the real safari experience, it’s more like being in a caged zoo, except you can’t get out of your car. We finished the safari in an hour.
After the safari, there’s an area you can go to for mini-​golf, a mini-​boat ride, carousal, etc. They have an aviary (which was closed by the time we got there), and different stations to feed fish.

We enjoyed both the campsite and the theme park of Lion Country Safari.
During the time that we camped, Lion Country Safari had a Trick or Treat event that was so cute! From 5 – 6 pm all the kids came to the different campers and trick or treated. From my understanding, Lion Country Safari has many events similar to this throughout the year depending on what holidays are approaching. I love that they cater to children and keep the schedule packed with events for families. The campground was also very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the pool and the playground during our stay too.
The theme park part of Lion Country is very much tailored for children. They have many rides that kids would love. The «safari» part of Lion Country is entertaining for both kids and adults. Lion Country gives you a CD to play in your car as you drive. This CD explains and identifies which animals you are passing along your «safari». Additionally, the CD gives fun facts about the animals and the habitats. It was neat seeing all the animals in their «natural» settings. There were also places to pull off if you wanted to take pictures from your car. Obviously, you are not allowed to get out of your car. It was a nice ride but if I had to be honest, I was slightly bored until the ostrich came to peck at my window!
Overall I found the camping and safari experience to be incredibly fun! It was a weekend well spent. The price for the campsite and the admission to the theme park was also EXTREMELY reasonable. I will definitely be coming back!

Better than expectes. The best part is the ride-​on safari (your own car). The other part is great for kids!
Animals are in good shape, many zebras, white rhinos, impalas, chimps, nyus, buffalos, …bring your binoculars if you have, you will see animals much better. Around 1 pm they feed them so they are active by that time.
Best part, the small rhino. Lions are sleeping naps like there is no tomorrow so you will only see them laying down.
Ostriches are hungry and will beat your windows, but no harm.

This was a lot more fun than many of the zoos I’ve been to. For one, the animals have a lot more room to roam here. I actually think that the people in cars might be the ones in cages. The CD was really interesting to listen to as we went through the various zones, however, I got distracted quite a few times because nature, so I don’t think I learned as much as I was supposed to.
I have to say that the lions were the least interesting part of the excursion, but I usually feel that way, especially knowing that they pretty much don’t move during the day.
The park itself is fun, but is a little more games and rides than animals. However, it’s worth it to go and feed the giraffes. That’s one of the most fun things I’ve ever done at a zoo!
Overall, I had a great time here and would recommend it for animal lovers of any age.

Most of the other reviews are pretty accurate and do read up on the suggestions.
I highly recommend printing out the coupon for free parking, fortunately I misplaced my coupon but told the lady we are from out of town and she went ahead and discounted me seven dollars.
We happened to go on a day that ended up raining and it slowed things down and made some of the animals hard to see as they were hiding. So definitely going today there’s no rain.
There are quite a few animals that are very interesting and it was very neat to see them up and very close.
I did not realize how big rhinoceros was until we drove right past them!
They also have a little walk through area with different animals that was very neat after you go to the safari park. I highly recommend not going through there when it is very hot or very humid! Because the humidity was so bad, we didn’t get to go through the entire place but like what we saw.
Check out their website and plan to spend about two hours there, maybe three. It is worth going at least once.

Another great local attraction and fun for the whole group. The last time I went to Lion Country Safari was in the late 70’s when i used to visit my aunt and uncle who lived in WPB. Now I’m bringing my grand kids back.
I’ve also been to Africa and did Safari for a week but this was the next best thing.
Tip #1– google before going to score some online coupons. We saved $ 21 for 3 people so worth it.
Tip #2– Pack some snacks and drinks in a cooler, not to feed the animals but the kiddos in the car.
Be patient so you can take it all in. The 4mile road will take you all around the park and there’s 6 – 7 different areas where all the animals are. We made several stops along the way to enjoy the animals and snap some pics. We were able to see Kudu, Ostriches, white Rhinocerous, Buffalo, Zebra, Chimpanzees, Llama, various Antelopes such as Blackbuck, Kudu, Waterbucks and Eland.
I would definitely go back, maybe take my sin since he says we «skipped» his generation, lol

Safari life with no fences or obstruction is what you will find here that makes driving through exciting and one with the animals! We decided to make a day trip out of Valentines Day to go to the Safari. We purchased their bogo deal off of TravelZoo and were so glad we found it! I would say paying full price for this adventure is a bit too much. Before coming search for coupons or deals!
Arrive early to avoid rush-​hour inside the park. Stopping at the gates to pay they give you a pretty cool CD to listen to. This will guide you through each section of your drive. It explains the animals and gives you facts about the wildlife. The only species that are in a fenced area are the lions for obvious reasons.
The animals we got to see wild include Rhinos, Zebras, Monkeys, Ostriches, Donkeys, and a wide range of antelope species. The Ostriches definitely over run the place being the main attraction but they are pretty fun to watch. One of them loved rims and looking at himself through the reflection of car windows! :D
The drive through part was the best part as the reason for my review rating is mostly because of the walk through park. There is not much special there and it seemed we were there during «off» season?!? Geared more towards the little ones. There are Pink Flamingos, Tortoises, Parrots, Camel Rides, Petting Zoo, Small Rides, Food Stands and the Giraffe Feeding. I absolutely loved the Giraffe feeding but for $ 5 you get two stocks of lettuce which is gone in two seconds~ Those Giraffes are hungry! They also have paddle boats and a boat tour inside.
Overall, this park looks like it was prime in the 80’s. Don’t get me wrong it was a fun experience and very cool to see the animals in «their element» but I was a little disappointed once we parked and went inside. It only took us an hour and a half to go through the whole experience with about 15 mins being actually on foot.

Lion Country Safari was always a highlight for me growing up, but I’ve been hesitant to take my kids during frequent trips to Florida because who wants to waste a perfectly nice day in the car. However, I heard the newest (or at least new to me) addition to LCS– an outdoor amusement park. Sold!
The first part of LCS is similar to what I remember as a kid, although not nearly as exciting. You drive for about an hour looking at lions, zebras and other wildlife. As a kid I remember them coming up to the car, but many of the animals (specifically lions) are now kept at a distance. It’s basically like being at a zoo in your own car, but my kids were bored after about 10 minutes and begging us for all forms of technology (phones, ipads, etc) we had in the car. It’s also about a 30 min drive from my house so probably just too long for 2 little ones (and myself) to be in the car. On the other hand my husband seemed to really enjoy the «zoo show.»
Once we made it to the amusement park the kids had a fabulous time. Highlights included feeding the goats and birds, mini train ride, carousel, dumbo ride, paddle boating and mini golf. We engaged in so many activities while visiting the area last week, but if you ask my daughter what her favorite activity was she’s likely to say Lion Country Safari.
I’d definitely go back, although I wish there was a way to skip the driving part (perhaps there is?) and head straight for the outdoor fun.
If you happen to visit LCS look for a coupon ahead of time. It’s an expensive day and considering they ask for your coupon when you first drive up most people use them.
