The Country Bride & Gent

SO far so good… Bought my dress on my first trip out and trying on dresses. Went back a few weeks ago to try it on and set up fittings… VEry happy with everything so far… Cannot wait to start working with my seamstress who was amazing on the first meeting!

So upset when I left the store today. It’s not like it used to be. I brought many of prom gowns and my mother of the bride gowns in this store. But after today I’ll never patronize this store again. My daughters senior prom, and we were there for maybe 2 hours, we were just about to decide between 2 dresses, when the lady told us we are taking to long, that they only allow 1 hour for customers to find a dress. I was shocked. I also brought in some pictures from there website for dresses we wanted to see, and the lady was not familar with the dresses from there own website. Place went down hill. Sad!

I have really mixed reviews about this place. I bought my wedding dress here last summer and my bridesmaids (8 of them) got their dresses here. And my husband and groomsmen also got their tuxedos. The place is extremely cramped, out dated, and too small for the crowds they attract. I’ve been here so many times over the past year and any evening you’re going to be squeezing by people or waiting to look in a mirror. There aren’t enough mirror viewing spaces for brides to be, and the space around them is so small. You always have other people in your «area.» Given their high volume and business with expensive formal wear, I would expect them to be able to expand the store a little more or at least redo it so it looks nicer and updated– especially for a bride! It’s not too welcoming or «fancy» feeling. Some of the staff can also be rude. I’ve seen the ladies snap at each other and bicker about customers and appointments… But Maybe I would too if I worked in that tight space and was understaffed for the amount of appointments they have. I showed up a few minutes early to one of my appointments and the one lady very rudely told me I was too early followed by a condescending «giggle.» Also, like some other reviews said, they had all 8 of my girls buy larger dresses and they all needed a LOT taken in with alterations which seems like a money making scheme for them. They do steam even the bridesmaids dresses though which is nice. The person who does your alterations is assigned to a «day» and you must go back that same day each week. My seamstress was on vacation the two weeks before my wedding, which I think was horrible they didn’t tell me this when I picked my «day», and they wouldn’t let me switch people, so I had my final fittings just a few days before the wedding which made me sooo nervous. My wedding dress also came in a plastic garment bag that looked like the cheap kind you get at a dry cleaners. I’ve never bought a wedding dress before but I assumed after the money I’ve given to this place, I would have at least gotten a decent garment bag for transporting my wedding dress!
Now, on the plus side. I did end up buying my dress here so I obviously did like their selection. I was on a budget so they have dresses for all budgets and definitely helped me find one. So as long as brides are okay with the non flattering atmosphere and cramped spaces, I’d still recommend looking here. The tuxedo side was great. We had no issues getting the tuxes and they worked well with us. My very last trip there to finally pick up my dress, the ladies (who I’ve seen be nasty to each other) very kindly wished me well and couldn’t be nicer that day. Again, very mixed reviews about this place. If I had to do it all over again, I would really look harder in other stores before coming here.

I purchased my Mother of the Bride gown for my daughters wedding from this store. Initially I was thrilled because after searching through many other stores, I finally found a dress that I loved. The store does have a large selection of dresses. My excitement faded when I went for my first fitting. When I chose the dress, the salesperson measured me and as I was concerned about the dress possibly being snug she checked the measurements with the sizing chart and told me we would go up a size and that would be the correct size for me. The gown was extremely large when it came in. The seamstress was very vocal with her complaints about having to alter so much of the gown. She even hinted that It was my idea to order a larger size. At each fitting the seamstress was increasingly more vocal in her complaints about altering my gown even stating she had practically remade part of the gown. The alterations were certainly not free. In fact they were very costly. Customer service at this store was appalling. If you purchase a gown from this store take it elsewhere for alterations. What should have been a happy, exciting experience was anything but.

While The Country Bride and Gent had a nice selection their service was awful. My mom purchased her mother-​of-​the-​bride gown here. The sales staff had her order at least 1 size larger than needed. Each time we went for a fitting, the seamstress became very frustrated with my mom when she had to basically re-​make the entire dress. My mom went with the store’s recommendation on sizing but she was talked down to during every fitting when she asked to have something altered to fit her. On top of bad service, the alterations came at an exorbitant cost. If you purchase a dress here, save yourself money and hassle AND TAKE IT ELSEWHERE FOR ALTERATIONS!!! What should have been a happy experience became a horror story.

I got married in June and had my groomsman and father get three piece suits from CB&G. I had a suit made by Indochino in Philadelphia because I am very particular about fit, length, material etc. The communication with Ed was ok but I had to call him more often then he reached out to to ensure everything was taken care of. All of the guys went in for fittings and seemed to have been fitted properly.
However when the suits came in the fits were atrocious. The day of the wedding I felt so bad for my groomsman as the vests (they were told they didn’t need to try on) were too tight, jackets were too tight and pants were too big. In our pics the guys had to have their jackets unbuttoned. As a side my mom also went looking for a dress and was not very happy with the customers service either. She has gone through two previous weddings with my sisters and still felt that Country Bride was just not up to par. I would not recommend them to any family friends.

All the tuxes for a recent wedding I was in were rented from this establishment. My boyfriend was a groomsman and I escorted him to the store several times for measurements and fittings. The owner really seems to take pride in his work and was willing to go above and beyond to make sure everything looked right. For the measurements, we were only in town over the Christmas holiday but the owner offered to open the store up for us to take measurements the morning after Christmas, normally a holiday for them! He definitely had an eye for what would look good, and suggested a slim fit suit jacket that indeed looked great. The alterations were done perfectly — no additional altering needed. On a side note, I was also impressed that he contacted us because we left something in the suit pocket. He could have as easily just thrown it out and not bothered.
All the guys looked great. I can’t comment on any women’s dresses, but I’d definitely recommend this place for rental tuxes!

We bought our entire wedding parties atire at Country Bride and Gent. Everyone that works there is so friendly, helpful and knowledgable about what they are doing. They made the expierence a very fast and easy one. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the dresses they sell are top notch. If you see somthing online that you like depending on the designer they are able to get it in for you to try, or they will order it for you. The store looks small on the outside but when you get inside they have a ton of options to look at and colors to choose from. I highly reccomend going here if you want a higher quality expierence and options to choose from. You want to look good on your wedding day and they make sure it happens.

They tried on customer service. I went in on a Saturday check out a bridesmaid dress and was told they are appt only on Saturdays. After I explained that «appt only» was listed no where on their website or on the door as I walked in and that I knew the dress and style I was looking for and could I just try it on. She located the shorter version of the dress and because the place was packed I was allowed to use the restroom to try it on. I do believe she tried her best at customer service for me but I was ready to run! The tiny store was packed. If I wanted dress shopping to be special even an appt would not have helped. It was too much in there!
Also there were older women with walkers in there and someone parked in the no parking zone right in front of the entrance. I pointed it out and was told it was a bride who couldn’t find parking. I told the woman there are open spots now and I was leaving so that she could have them move the car. Blocking an entrance is just not okay!

Frankly, in my opinion, the perfect amount of attention. An initial greeting upon entry and pointing out the location of prom dresses and the sizes we were looking for … and then backed off. When she saw we had a dress or two in hand, again offered to start a dressing room … yes, thanks. Once we started, assisted us otherwise, did we want to see from the big tri mirror, want a picture, need another size? yes, yes, yes. Pleasant, friendly, not overbearing … and according to my daughter, the best selection of dresses we had seen so far.

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Sold my younger sister a dress for junior prom, then two weeks later sold the same dress (in a different color) to a girl who goes to the same school.
They will sell the same dress to people from the same school if it is a different color. I wouldn’t go here for your prom dress.

I’m only giving one star because 0 stars is not an option. When I called to make an appointment for my bridesmaids to look at dresses. They assured me they had a specific designer in stock as well as plus size samples. They also said they would pull the samples for my appointment. When we arrived it was to the most unorganized chaos. We had to dig through the racks to find samples of the designer we liked and there were NO plus sizes. The sales women were no help so we left within 15 minutes. All I can say is they lost my business as I was planning on looking for accessories for my wedding gown as well as the business of my 5 bridesmaids, mother of the bride and grandmother of the bride. I will also let any of my friends who are getting married to stay as far away as possible.

I truly think your experience here depends on who your consultant is. Last time we came here for bridesmaid dresses our consultant went above and beyond and was super helpful. This week we went back and had a different consultant who was TERRIBLE.
WE pulled all our own dresses and dressed ourselves, figuring out clips and stuff. When we asked for similar styles or other dresses she would pretend to look but come back empty handed and just stand there without telling us the verdict. Most of the time she was more concerned with whoever was walking in the door than helping us. To top off the experience, as we were changing out of our final dresses, she opened the curtain to our changing room to peek in and see if it was open when CLEARLY we were still in there! We were so annoyed with the whole experience.

I was in for a bridesmaid dress fitting and All I can say is is that they are expensive to alter and the ladies were quite unattentive to me. The seamstress also stuck me like 4 times with the pins and I was like «oww» and she said very rudely, «what?» Very disappointed. The dress is nice at least.

My groomsmen needed tuxedos that were higher quality than what is offered by places like Men’s Wearhouse and other big box tux shops. Also, service was a big part of the equation for me… I wanted to try on a few different tuxedos before deciding.
Ed (the manager /​owner) is a true specialist when it comes to tuxedos… he got me and 5 groomsmen set up perfectly and for a fair price. I would recommend him to anyone. After all, if you look good on your wedding day, you will feel good, if you feel good, well, it shows.

Great place. Ed took care of myself and my husband from the very beginning. Ed and his team were very efficient. I went in there thinking I knew what I wanted for our wedding, but Ed made a few gentle suggestions which we wound up taking. For example my husband and I wanted classic black bowties, but Ed took out straight ties just to show us what they looked like, and we wound up changing our minds and went with the straight ties. Overall we were quite pleased with the experience in the Tux department and would definitely recommend Ed to others!

I had to use this place for my friend’s wedding as a bridesmaid. My original consultant at Country Bride was FABULOUS, but the second time I went I had someone new (the original girl found a better job, go figure) and it was a terrible experience from there on out. The dress fit perfectly without alterations, but the seamstress insisted I have half an inch taken in at the bust. This was my very first bridesmaid experience and I was all by myself when I went. The alterations were close to $ 150 with no warning that the estimated cost would be so high on a bridesmaid dress – that’s more than half the price of the dress. Then, when the dress came back, it was too tight – they needed two people to zip me in, and the seamstress assured me it would «stretch out» despite my pleas that I could not breathe in the dress. But, as a naïve newbie I just assumed that they were the professionals so I should trust their judgement.
THEN, the consultant talked me into buying shoes that were a full size and a half smaller than my regular shoe (I’m 8.5 and they had me pick 7 shoes) because they said I would likely trip or fall out of the shoe if I chose my regular size. I could barely wear my shoes beyond the ceremony. When I put my feet on top of the shoe with the straps under my sole, you could tell immediately that those shoes were not made to fit my feet.
I was in agony all night and it ruined what should have been a great, memorable experience enjoyed by celebrating the marriage of one of my oldest friends. I couldn’t even drive in the dress because it was so tight I couldn’t sit down in my car. I was in so much pain (feet and back) that I couldn’t stomach any of the food. And the dress certainly did NOT stretch – in fact it BROKE at the reception and I had to wear my date’s jacket for the evening because the dress was so tight that the zipper broke.
When I showed the pics of the wedding at work, every single person could identify which bridesmaids paid for Country Bride alterations and which ones picked their own seamstress because the ones from Country Bride were all stuffed into their dresses.

This store had a good selection of bridal gowns, and tons of bridesmaid dresses. My consultant Cary was extremely friendly and helpful. She was professional and efficient, helping me in and out of gowns with ease!

This place was wonderful. They did EVERYTHING to help me! The price was right for me because I got a dress that was «old» and the last one they had ($ 300). It was amazingly beautiful! The price on all the dresses was way above $ 1,000 bucks… way out of my price range…
Tailoring on the other hand… I wanted my dress to be tailored an inch higher and the tailor wouldn’t do it! I was tripping over myself on my wedding day and I was mad about that. I paid for it… its MY dress… ITS MY WEDDING… please let me choose the length of my own wedding dress… Other than the tailor who doesn’t listen to you AT ALL the shop is amazing.

Do NOT be fooled with the name «country» or the countrified décor of the store, they have a GREAT selection and the kindest staff!
We got my wedding gown there, my bridesmaid dresses, AND our tuxedos! They are VERY reasonably priced and have a lot of options.
The saleswoman who helped me find my dress was extremely polite and helpful. The salesman who assisted my fiancé in getting his tuxedo was also nice and patient with all of our questions.
Their PROM dresses, however… could clothe any willing drag queen! They are HIDEOUS but since we were only getting bridal gear, it didn’t matter.
