Fid’s Smog & Tune

When I need my car worked on, this is the only place I trust! They explain things to me and do not seem to get frustrated with all my questions. I’ve been coming here for years (as my cars get old), and their hard work and dedication to their business is still as strong as ever.

These guys figured out what was wrong with my car when another shop couldn’t! They had it done in about a day (as promised), gave me a fair price and did quality work. They didn’t talk down to me and treated me well.
I need to get my car smogged for registration this year and I’ll be going to Fid’s to get it done.

They got my car in on a early morning without an appointment to check my Alternator real quick. Thankfully it checked out good after a dead battery the day before. They were awesome enough to not charge me for the test. Makes me want to come back to them for future needs. Thank you Fid’s!

I have brought all my vehicles here for the past two years, for smog checks and repairs. They have been great in explaining all work needed, thorough in their diagnostics, and even thrown in some minor repairs without charging me labor costs. I cannot recommend them highly enough. It is priceless to have mechanics you can trust like Ernie and Fid.

went to her car to find it wont start. i, without her knowledge, i had it looked at, and was going to wait until further repairs, IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP THAT HAD 7 PSI TO SHREADER VALVE, a week i went to her, and the car was gone, i took it to FIDS, she said, so. did you have it fixed? i asked mom, she said no, it needs a motor???(so it came in with a no start) (it still turned over) and it had spark, i asked them how did you know the motor was no good, they replied, i took a camera into the cylinder and can see that the connecting rod is not attached to the piston, wouldent you assest the no start first?? and if so, why did they go straight to the camera? you are suppose to use a compression tester (basic auto text book) a asked the guy at fids if he can pull a spark plug out so i can verify, and he replied that you cant get to the back plug, then how do they do a tune up?? how did you get the camera in their? i mean why take advantage of an older woman? in the end they made her pay the tow bill and talked her into selling them the car for $ 300, and gave her absolutely no paperwork of the diag, THEY BOUGHT HER CAR,
the first case i let go, this i wont
the first case is simple, ithe spark plug wires were crossed on a 93 camero, they couldn’t find out what was wrong, so they told him it might be a blown head gasket, they tear it appart and tell him that the spark plug wires were crossed, THEY STILL HAD HIM PAY FOR THEIR MISS DIAG $ 800 money they should have eaten
2^nd case
blue ford focas new motor installed by FIDS, had a rod knock less that a year later after their work, and the lady found out the motor was not new, they did pay for the new motor
none of this would have ever come up if they did not buy that car, mind you i am a local and herd of many bad cases and let them go, also some good,
but they lied, they should have never bought that car, ‚

These guys rock! Went in for smog and I was in-​and-​out in about 45 mins (there were other cars before me getting smog’d).
It’s a little off the beaten path, in West Sacramento, but well worth the visit. Small waiting room. But, man, this business is busy. Always a good sign!

don’t take your mercedes there what a big joke they are i had a cap award. they look at my car and said i need this and that it had nothing to do with smog i think the asshole in the office was lazy and i had appt to be there and he was on the phone… not asking to please wait he kept up answering his phone im paying customer too. so i went to a smog place in sacramento and guess what it passed inspection with flying colors if you want a really nice place you can trust… sacramento had good ones this guys are idiots!!! they are not mercedes friendly!!! excuses lol

I have been doing business with these guys for 25 years. Fid and Ernie absolutely exemplify how a business should run an operation. I have sent my daughters, friends, mother in law and pastor to these guys and they have consistently provided excellent service with every kind of repair from basic diagnostic to tune ups, smogs and overheating issues to mention a few. Always priced right and fast. They always go the extra extra mile when it comes to customer service and thoroughness. I can’t say enough about these guys… but Thanks Again for all you guys have done for me and my referrals… no need to look any further for a GREAT service you have found one of the BEST!!!

This is my first and so far only experience with Fid’s.
Made an appointment for smog through email, came in on a Saturday morning and was in and out within 20 minutes.
Super easy, fast service, and very nice people. If I have car trouble in the future, I would feel comfortable bringing it back here.

Was in Sac for business and needed to get vehicle smogged. Found Fids on Unilocal.Fast service, great price. Waiting area with TV. Exactly what I needed.

Fid & family have taken great care of all 3 of our cars for the last couple years since I was referred to them. They have provided me honest, cost effective auto maintenance on a constant. When I needed a lift home, it has always been cheerfully provided. The prices are fair and the service is attentive. I cant imagine visiting another shop in the area so long as Fid is there. Competitive pricing and knowledgeable guys. Took my son’s car in for a smog check and the darn maintenance light that kept flashing. They identified the problem, fixed it and were very reasonable. Definitely will go back again!

I didn’t even know this place was here, and I’ve lived in West Sac my whole life. It’s kind of behind the Chevron station, and definitely weathered, but I was in and out for my Smog check in 20 minutes on a Saturday morning. (They’re open till 12:30pm on Saturdays.) The certificate was sent electronically to DMV. Cost: $ 48.50. Much lower than the standard $ 65 I was getting when I checked around. No hassle involved, either.

$ 48.50 for a smock check, including certification. they are fast, friendly and reasonably priced. i called in the morning to get a smog check, and was seen in 30 minutes. the smog check (plus changing out a headlight bulb) was done in less than 45 minutes, with the certification electronically sent to dmv.

I took my car to Fid’s for a Smog check. They are very professional and offer competitive pricing. They answer the phone quickly and are very polite. Was able to schedule a Smog checking within one hour.
