Fitness 19

I’ve been going to this location since it opened 4 – 5 years ago. It’s a great gym. Clean, maintained, roomy, and organized.
They do not host classes or anything of that nature but personal trainers are not hard to find– some employees of Fitness 19 others who specialize in their own equipment.
They open early (5am) and often (usually offering holiday hours when others are closed).

Horrible customer service. The ponytailed guy at the front desk constantly is talking or on his phone. He doesn’t say hello when you walk in, bye when you leave let alone acknowledge you. Business is literally an old store front. Came on a week guest pass and will not be back. That’s why other gyms cost more. Whoever is the bald meathead trainer (Randy I believe?) maybe when training somebody you should put down your phone and quit texting the entire time. He did that two separate sessions with me and I finally had enough. Felt like I was working out while he texted on his phone. Horribly run gym!

I have been going to the West Seneca Fitness 19 for about 3 years after joining one of the other local Fitness 19s, but the WS one is closer for me.
If you are looking for a no-​frills gym where you can lift, use a treadmill, etc pretty easily, this is the place for you. They occasionally will run short «camps» for different specialty classes, but other than that you get a couple small changing rooms, basic restrooms, lockers, and a child care room (no kids, so I have no experience, but the room looks nice and clean, plenty of toys). They have a key fob tag system for check in which is easy to use.
I have gone at all times of day to the gym and have never really had to wait to use equipment. It is usually all working and have only ever seen a cardio machine out once. Wide variety of weight training machines, etc. For about a year, they posted signs that they would be periodically cleaning the machines every hour or so, but then went back to the terry cloth towels and bottles of spray. I don’t think that using the same towel does much and would rather see pre-​soaked wipes or paper towels since the re-​usable ones are usually pretty icky and I am not sure how often they replace them. The rest of the gym seems clean and looked after. They have TVs along the front for the cardio machines and some around the perimeter in the back for the lifting, but you are stuck looking out the window at the parking lot if you can only get a spot for the front row of cardio. They don’t have any hookup to sound, but usually have the captions for the shows and play pop/​rock music over the sound system. Only one scale to use. It used to be in the changing room, but now in this side nook behind the consultation desks.
I utilized a trainer for about 6 mos a couple years ago in conjunction with one of their bi-​annual weight loss competitions. He was really nice, competent, easy to communicate with, and helped me a lot. He was no longer working at the gym about 6 mo after I stopped, but I benefited from his work.
I also had a situation this summer where I left my keys in the bin they provide at the front desk and someone took them (even though there were only 1 – 2 other sets in there). One of the desk guys was nice enough to offer to drive me to my house so I could try to get a spare set of car keys. He made me feel comfortable and I appreciated him helping me out. I emailed the address on their location-​specific facebook pages to let the managers know, but I never heard back. The only issue was that I left a description of my keys and my name/​number and asked them to call if someone turned them in. Someone later in the day returned my keys, but even with the note at the front desk, they did not call me back. I happened to call later just to make sure and lucky enough, they were there (but they put them back in the general «bin» where people working out were and almost couldn’t find them when I called back). I have since held onto my keys…
Look for specials or see if someone you know works out to get a deal as they have various pricing. They usually have a 7-​day pass in the mail or sometimes online so you can see for yourself. If you need the basics and don’t want to pay more than $ 15 a mon, Fitness 19 is a good choice.
