Specialties

We offer 34 different specialty hot dogs, along with soups, sandwiches and sides. For dessert, we have hand dipped ice creams, milkshakes, sundaes, and banana splits.

History

Established in 2013.

In 1998, the owners purchased an old general store in Gassaway, West Virginia, and used the furnishings to recreate the old fashioned ice cream shop, including the marble countertops and complete wood showcases. All of the furnishings are authentic and are nearly 100 years old.

Had a really great time at Panhandlers. Deep menu with several options for dogs. The food was fantastic, the family that owns the place couldn’t have been nicer. Give them a shot!

Better than Hillbilly hotdogs. More variety and better atmosphere. Gary makes a mean chocolate malt the old fashioned way. It’s like stepping back in time and enjoying the good things in life the way they used to be. Where else can you go and get homemade beans and cornbread? I like to pair it with a hotdog with kraut and mustard. My daughters like the macaroni and cheese dog. There are so many choices you could get a different hotdog every day, probably for a year. My favorite place to go when I’m in west union.

The menu is unique, and something you normally would not find in a rural area.
They have a hot dog for every state, and currently have finished around 30+ of the states.
Their menu is newly expanded is includes everything from loaded fries, dogs, beans & corn bread, chicken salad, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, etc…
Down home cooking, and the owner originated in West Virginia, and it shines through his menu flavorings.
