The Whiz Stores

i thought this place closed awhile ago but to find out it moved is great love it here. The staff is just the bees knees.

Great selection of board games, miniatures games, and Magic. There’s also a terrific toys section that offers different toys for the kiddos than your used to.
There are lots of events that attract locals. There’s Magic tournaments each week, and you can usually find people playing War Hammer any day of the week. They are just getting into offering open board gaming on Monday nights.
Prices are not discounted, but you can open any board game in the store and try it out.

I just started playing Magic again a year ago, and The Whiz is quite local to me, so I’ve been playing FNM and Modern on Sundays here.
The space is sometimes a bit cozy to accommodate all of the various games going on, and most everything seems to be priced at retail — no discounts here. The prize support for the tournaments is not particularly large (packs are offered at retail, not at cost).
Player community is decent, probably a bit less geared towards PTQing than I might like, but hey, it’s nice to have a shop to sling some cardboard nearby.

This place is great. I get all of my wargaming paints and brushes here. The owner Chris is also crazy knowledgeable about painting miniatures, he’s a mini painting machine. Whenever I have a question I ask him, you can tell he loves it and could talk about the craft for hours. They also host group painting sessions Monday evenings. I haven’t been able to go but I bet it is a load of fun.
The toys are retail priced. (I used to manage an independent Toy Store that sold the same or similar products and I know what they pay for it, so I know the prices are reasonable.) The guys playing games can get noisy or rowdy but I don’t think that is really much of a problem for the customers who are unfamiliar with Wargaming. If anything it makes you more curious.

One of the biggest (hobby) board game selection in the Worcester area I’ve seen! Owners are very friendly and have demoed a new game for me a couple times. In addition, the gaming tables always seem active, there is a section for minis (including GW) which seems to get a lot of store support, and a nice assortment of new and used Magic (CCG) cards. The RPGs are confined to one bookcase, but again, several cases worth of board games!
Prices seem to be retail, but there is a loyalty program which gives coupons when used. The one odd caveat I have is that a few games I’ve bought have had box damage I didn’t notice until I got them home, so just double-​check before buying.
The other half of the store is full of true «toys», with puzzles, crafts, learning toys, science experiments, kids’ games, and other fun stuff for children; a great addition to save my bacon when I need gifts for younger cousins’ birthdays AND want to buy some games!

This is a nice little unique store to browse. It sells a large variety of games and gifts for the young and old, much larger than Eureka about four-​fold. With the closings of Danger Planet and Avid, this is one of the few remaining Games Workshop stores left in the area, catering particularly to them with the gaming area in the back. Warhammer and such are not my thing, personally, but the selection seems to be about par with Battlegrounds in Abington. However, where it definitely has a larger selection is general art supplies for scenery. It is a little lighter on the other gaming supplies such as books, but the store is more catered toward a broad audience. There are a large selection of German puzzles, board games, coffee table iron puzzles, educational toys for all ages, and novelties. The owner always takes time to chat with customers, even a crazy person like myself. I have yet to see ‘double dice’ (dice with one d6 nested inside a clear d6) sold in other gaming stores in the area, and they are but $.50 apiece here. Prices are reasonable and the setting does not alienate non-​gamers at all. It is a nice little shop to peruse.
The plaza can be a bit funny to get to, the entrance to the ‘left’ side of the building when going eastbound on Route 9, after the Wendy’s.

This store is so FUN to visit you could browse for hours!!!
Model train decorations, card game tournaments for kids, little metal men/​figures you can paint and collect, great GIFT IDEAS for kids of all ages and a scant selection of snacks for you in case you spend so long looking around there you’re about to go into a diabetic coma.
I love the science section. I mean, this store is really for kids, but I can’t help but be sent back in time … I love the rocks for the rock collecting kids.
If you join their «club» you can earn points towards whiz bucks too!
Check it out and bring some water or buy it there so you don’t get too dehydrated from your extended stay!
