Emily Main Photography

I unfortunately had a very similar situation to Laura M, which started in the summer of 2015. She rescheduled multiple times, gave us a hard time with selecting the birth announcements, took 2 months to get them straightened out and delivered, and then only delivered half the amount of images I had paid for. Back in October 2015, she agreed to refund half of my money… And then promptly started ignoring me and all methods of contact I have tried to initiate with her. It is the end of January 2016 right now, and I have not received my refund. Like Laura, I am contacting the BBB and I recommend that no one use Emily if you want to get what you’ve paid for.

I had recently hired Emily Main Photography for a family session. With multiple family members involved in this shoot, picking a date became some sort of fête. Emily was more than accommodating to our multiple schedule changes. She was professional, prompt to emails, phone calls regarding basic questions and offered different ideas to help make this session memorable.
Dealing with grown adults and children is one thing, but making them all stay still, smile and look all in the SAME direction at the SAME time, is another thing… a miracle (in my mind). We were thrilled with the photos and were even more surprised with the action shots of the family just spending time together. She captured some great memories between the kids that the adults were missing out on. We were given many different types of photos, more than I had planned and was grateful for that. Everyone was able to choose the different photos/​style they wanted. Can’t wait until the next photo session with Emily Main Photography!
I was actually referred by a friend who had Emily Main Photography at her child’s christening and saw the great work with groups of people and babies of all ages. Unfortunately I see her Unilocal review is not visible or recommended– which is bizarre how this system works.

We had our son’s Baptism this past weekend and hired Emily to shoot the occasion in Nassau County. I hired her after I saw her engagement shots of my best friend, which were stunning. I couldn’t be happier with the experience we had with her. Emily showed utmost professionalism from start to finish. Her turnaround with the pictures was so quick! Most importantly, Emily also has such a sweet and sensitive demeanor with children. My son was so sick with a cold. She was patient and made sure he was comfortable. Emily will definitely be called again.

Emily recently did a shoot with our family in our backyard and the pictures came out great. Couldn’t of asked for more. She caught all the moments, pictures looks beautifull. She was very professional and was very fair on pricing. We received the photos very fast and we are really happy with the outcome. I would def recommend Emily to anyone and will definitely use her again.

Taking photos of two active little boys is not easy, but Emily Main has managed to take some of the most beautiful photos of my sons. She’s captured some very sweet moments of the two of them playing together and some lovely family shots as well. Her beach photos are especially amazing. People often comment that the family photos Emily took of us look like they «are out of a magazine.» Thanks Emily Main Photography!

Emily Main recently took photos for me. She was professional and a pleasure to work with. I’m thrilled with the way the photos came out. I would absolutely hire her again!

I hired Emily Main to photograph my Son’s First Birthday for 3 hours for $ 300 on April 4, 2015.
Her portfolio looked good, a lot of available light photos that were in focus, etc.
Her communication was good along with demeanor at my son’s party
When I received the photos that is really where the real disappointment lay.
Majority of the photos were blurry and out of focus. Major photos such as group photos were all partially out of focus. Major events at the party such as my son getting his birthday cupcake delivered to him and a group shot of myself, husband and son with my Daughter completely out of focus to the point where no details can be seen.
There is little to no evidence of anyone at the party, there were 35 people at this party.
A section outside from our shoot was not even included in the final edits.
We are devastated at the lack of quality and attention given.
For the cost of $ 300 its extremely disappointing to receive photos that are at an amateur level with little consideration made to fix the problem.
I asked for Raw files so I could fix some of the blurry shots, she states she is «having major problems with her computer»
When I emailed her about the problem she stated she was going to refund me the whole amount.
««I will send you the originals without my edits and also mail you a check for $ 300.

She then asked for my chase pay id, in which I did not have one. I waited for a week to see if she was going to refund me the money via check, like she stated. I received a email about how she was not going to refund me the money and that she «did the job she was paid for.»
I do not recommend anyone to book her services. Her positive reviews were clearly from people she knows as they were both written on the same day. There are so many other talented photographers that do follow through, that provide better customer service, that do not lie to their clients and the Better business bureau about sending refunds that were never sent.
As of May 26, 2015 I have not heard, or received anything else from Emily Main Photography. She doesn’t respond to emails. If anyone needs to see the set of blurry /​soft photos please message me on Unilocal.
I have now reported her to the BBB of Westchester County. Situation is pending as she is still refusing to compromise to a resolution and has not answered why major shots are out of focus and blurry. This is an issue of her technique and misrepresenting herself on her portfolio as someone who can take sharp images. IF you look at her recent portfolio you can see that major shots of clients are poorly focused.
June 3, 2015 — we compromised on half back through the BBB complaint board through a resolution from her directly. She offered $ 150 back
June 18, 2015 — refund of half the paying price still has NOT been received
July 29, 2015 — She told the BBB that she would send a check twice already for $ 150. Check has not been received. Case has been reopened with the BBB.
August 3, 2015 — BBB attempted to contact her twice, no response.
Sept. 21, 2015 — No response, no half refund like she suggested. BBB gives her a grade of D+ for poor response and no resolution to dispute.
January 2016 — Nothing resolved — apparently she has done it again by ruining another clients photos.
